www.MOTRface.com Penske Racing Facility Mooresville NC - video 1 of 2
An amazing facility. Huge and so clean and organized. Located at 200 Penske Way, Mooresville, NC. Drivers: 2 Brad Keselowski 22 Kurt Busch Nationwide Series 22 Brad Keselowski 12 Sam Hornish Jr. Penske Racing's state-of-the-art-facility is located on 105 acres in Mooresville, N.C. The two buildings that once housed the Matsushita Compressor Corp. of America in the Mooresville Business Park total 424,697 square feet. After acquiring the property in June 2004 for $7 million, two construction crews were placed on the project in seven-day-a-week shifts. The main building's interior was gutted and a major facelift begun. Within six months, the race team's administrative department and chassis shop began relocating to the new racing campus. By March 2005, the NASCAR teams' move had been completed. In May 2005, a 4,986-square foot gift shop that provides visitors access to a 432-foot fan walk above the garage floor opened, and before 2005 ended, Penske's sports car series team had moved from Reading, Penn., to the North Carolina facility. By early 2007, all of Penske's race teams called the massive structure home. The IndyCar Series team, located in Reading, Penn., since the early 1970s, completed its move to Mooresville in late 2006. There is a 138-seat cafeteria where employees may enjoy a catered lunch during the work week. A 150-seat auditorium provides Penske's sponsors with the opportunity to conduct meetings in a unique environment. The climate controlled NASCAR transporter bay is often redecorated and used for large social functions. Over the last several years the team's Holiday party was held in that area, along with several media dinners and Miller Brewing Co.'s farewell roast for Rusty Wallace. More than 1,000 linear feet of graphics throughout the facility provide visitors with a glimpse of the organization's racing history. Men's and women's locker rooms exist on each side of the training room. The organization's NASCAR teams occupy 240,781 square feet. That's equivalent to eight acres under roof. Also contained in the building's NASCAR section are 17 surface plates, three paint booths, three body prep stations, a Rapid Prototyping Department and an aero scale model shop. Outside the structure there's a one-mile nature trail and two lighted baseball fields. A separate entrance exists for the IndyCar Series teams, which had its facilities constructed in the main building behind the NASCAR shop. Penske Racing visitors know they've been to a facility that's world class and a place that creates a team environment for preparation and performance.

Abandoned Metrolina Speedway - Charlotte, NC - The Goad Team
The Metrolina track is one of many that populated the Charlotte, NC area since the turn of the 20th century. The Metrolina Expo Trade Center was established in 1960. The exposition center quickly added a half-mile banked dirt raceway naming it Speedworld. Racing on Friday nights, the track drew the area's top drivers on a weekly basis but never hosted what is now considered Sprint Cup events.
The track did hold several secondary NASCAR events after the track was paved in the early 1970's. The most storied of those races came in November 1974 when Harry Gant bested legends Jerry Cook, Bugs Stevens and Richie Evans in a NASCAR Modified Division event. Later that day, Jack Ingram took top honors in a NASCAR Late Model Sportsman race that featured Darrell Waltrip, Dale Earnhardt and Tiny Lund.
Metrolina Speedway was also the site of two other notable events -- Dale Earnhardt's first pavement victory -- and the last race for Speedy Thompson. Thompson suffered a heart attack during a late model race at Metrolina on April 2, 1972 and crashed hard breaking his neck in the process. He died on the way to the hospital.
Eventually, Metrolina was returned to a dirt surface hosting various late model sprint car and motocross races into the mid-1990's. In 2010, plans were announced to refurbish and reopen the track, but those initiatives never came to fruition.
While Metrolina may not ring true as one of NASCAR's most historic raceways, it's important in the respect that it is the only Charlotte area vintage track still in existence.
In the Close Finishes photos included in this article, its obvious Metrolina has seen better days. The overgrown racing surface and grandstand, rusty fences, battered pit and concession buildings have seen much better days.
Despite its deterioration, you can still feel the history echoes of fast cars, loud engines and cheering fans as you sit among the weeds in the grandstand.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.

SUMMARY
=======
Reading ( RED-ing; Pennsylvania German: Reddin) is a city in and the county seat of Berks County, Pennsylvania, United States. With a population of 87,575, it is the fifth-largest city in Pennsylvania. Located in the southeastern part of the state, it is the principal city of the Greater Reading Area, and is furthermore included in the Philadelphia-Reading-Camden PA-NJ-DE-MD Combined Statistical Area.
The city, which is approximately halfway between the state's most populous city, Philadelphia, and the state capital, Harrisburg (as well as about halfway between Allentown and Lancaster) is strategically situated along a major transportation route from Central to Eastern Pennsylvania, and lent its name to the now-defunct Reading Railroad, which transported anthracite coal from the Pennsylvania Coal Region to the eastern United States via the Port of Philadelphia. Reading Railroad is one of the four railroad properties in the classic United States version of the Monopoly board game.
Reading was one of the first localities where outlet shopping became a tourist industry. It has been known as The Pretzel City, because of numerous local pretzel bakeries. Currently, Bachman, Dieffenbach, Tom Sturgis, and Unique Pretzel bakeries call the Reading area home.
According to the 2010 census, Reading has the highest share of citizens living in poverty in the nation. In recent years, the Reading area has become a destination for cyclists. With more than 125 miles of trails in five major preserves, it is an International Mountain Bicycling Association Ride Center and held the Reading Radsport Festival on September 8–9, 2017.In April 2017, it was announced that an indoor velodrome, or cycling track, will be built in Reading as the first of its kind on the East Coast and only the second in the entire country. Albright College and the World Cycling League formally announced plans April 6, 2017, to build the $20 million, 2,500-seat facility, which will be called the National Velodrome and Events Center at Albright College. It will also serve as the Cycling League's world headquarters.
