Exploring Nakano
This is the last video from this trip! There were a few days that either we just didn't do too much, spent the day with family etc and I didn't film much.
But we did explore one of our favourite areas! Nakano Broadway! And ate a lot of yummy things~!
Of course we went to a bunch more parks lol!
Hope you enjoyed our trip as much as we did!!

Tokyo Manga Shop & Anime Studio Mega Tour ★ ONLY in JAPAN #29 東京漫画ショップ&アニメスタジオツアー
Anime and manga fans are increasing world wide! Tokyo is at the center of it all so in this episode, John Daub and Patrick W. Galbraith, author of the Otaku Encyclopedia and Moe Manifesto head to Nakano Broadway and Mandarake, a famous manga shop.
This place is otaku heaven!
Here we discuss:
★ Why is manga and anime becoming more popular?
★ Dragon Ball Z GOKU vs. SUPERMAN
★ Anime vs. Manga
Is the book better than the movie?
We also look at some of Mandarake's collectable toys and some of the oldest manga available at the shop.
Next, we go to Asagaya and WAO Corporation's studio where they are making a crowd-funded anime production called Chuya-den.
Chuya-den, directed by Yoshiyuki “Yoshiko” Kaneko who studied animation under Taku Furukawa, the Japanese Animation Guru!
Chuya-den is using a new crowd-funding model for creating original anime. Connecting fans and creators to make original ideas is the key to the success of budding ideas and many young anime creators start in outfits like Chuya-den. Patrick and John look at the process from character creation to digitalizing and coloring in a small indie studio.

Exploring Japans Parks and Playgrounds
Here is the second week of our trip!
Its funny how I always think I'm filming so much when in reality its a few small clips here and there.
I definitely need to find a good balance of being in the moment and then being able to document that moment. Oh well, Im working on it!
I hope you like this style of vlog a bit more than my previous ones, a little more talking (Im still a bit shy to talk in public lol) and a little less music so you can hear the background sounds too...
Let me know what you think! Id love some feedback about my videos or some suggestions on what to do next time we go to Japan!

Ambient Japan #2 Tokyo ASMR - Nakano Broadway (Japanese Mall Unintentional ASMR)
The ambient sounds of a Tokyo mall, Nakano Broadway. Beautiful live video & vivid audio of the people of Tokyo going about their business. A treat for the eyes and ears for fans of all things Japan.
While I typically make videos about my adventures in Japan, every now and then I'll take a moment to capture a scene that is a perfect opportunity for ASMR (autonomous sensory meridian response). 'Ambient Japan' is my series of these scenes, and I do hope you stay tuned for more Tokyo ASMR and moments of Japanese ambiance. In this case, a Tokyo Mall ASMR that features people walking, talking, and the odd mall announcement. Have you ever been to a Japanese mall?
Nakano Broadway is located in North West Tokyo, in Nakano, and is a geek cathedral. Stay tuned for my video on Nakano Broadway! This Tokyo Mall is perfect for a Mall ASMR with its shopping mall ambience - a shopping mall asmr.
Do check out my previous 'Ambient Japan' video of Shinjuku.
You may find this mall asmr handy as sleep noise, Japanese sleeping music, shopping mall sounds or simply Japanese ambience. I hope you enjoy this unintentional ASMR from a Japanese mall.
I do hope you'll check out my other Japan adventures!

Japan Trip 2013 Hongo Campus Ginkgo tree-lined University of Tokyo 11
University of Tokyo
The University of Tokyo (東京大学 Tōkyō daigaku), abbreviated as Todai (東大 Tōdai?), is a research university located in Bunkyo, Tokyo, Japan. The University has 10 faculties with a total of around 30,000 students, 2,100 of whom are foreign. Its five campuses are in Hongō, Komaba, Kashiwa, Shirokane and Nakano. It is the first of Japan's National Seven Universities, and is considered the most prestigious university in Japan. It ranks as the highest in Asia and 21st in the world according to the Academic Ranking of World Universities 2013.
History
The university was chartered by the Meiji government in 1877 under its current name by amalgamating older government schools for medicine and Western learning. It was renamed the Imperial University (帝國大學 Teikoku daigaku?) in 1886, and then Tokyo Imperial University (東京帝國大學 Tōkyō teikoku daigaku?) in 1897 when the Imperial University system was created. In September 1923, an earthquake and the following fires destroyed about 700,000 volumes of the Imperial University Library.[6] The books lost included the Hoshino Library (星野文庫 Hoshino bunko?), a collection of about 10,000 books. The books were the former possessions of Hoshino Hisashi before becoming part of the library of the university and were mainly about Chinese philosophy and history.
In 1947, after Japan's defeat in World War II, it re-assumed its original name. With the start of the new university system in 1949, Todai swallowed up the former First Higher School (today's Komaba campus) and the former Tokyo Higher School, which henceforth assumed the duty of teaching first- and second-year undergraduates, while the faculties on Hongo main campus took care of third- and fourth-year students.
Although the university was founded during the Meiji period, it has earlier roots in the Astronomy Agency (天文方; 1684), Shoheizaka Study Office (昌平坂学問所; 1797), and the Western Books Translation Agency (蕃書和解御用; 1811).[8] These institutions were government offices established by the 徳川幕府 Tokugawa shogunate (1603--1867), and played an important role in the importation and translation of books from Europe.
Kikuchi Dairoku, an important figure in Japanese education, served as president of Tokyo Imperial University.
For the 1964 Summer Olympics, the university hosted the running portion of the modern pentathlon event.
On 20 January 2012, Todai announced that it would shift the beginning of its academic year from April to September to align its calendar with the international standard. The shift would be phased in over five years.
According to the Japan Times, the university had 1,282 professors in February 2012. Of those, 58 were women.
In the fall of 2012 and for the first time, the University of Tokyo started two undergraduate programs entirely taught in English and geared toward international students — Programs in English at Komaba (PEAK) — the International Program on Japan in East Asia and the International Program on Environmental Sciences.
