Michael Grandinetti Talks About Master of Illusion Live at Harrah's Casino on San Diego Living
Illusionist Michael Grandinetti visits the San Diego Living morning show (with fellow guests Nicole Kidman and Jaleel White) to talk about the Masters of Illusion Live tour that is currently in town for a performance at Harrah's Resort Southern California. Michael also performed a fun piece of sleight of hand magic with host Marc Bailey. Masters of Illusion is the largest touring magic production in the country and season 2 of Masters of Illusion on The CW begins in summer 2015.
Michael Grandinetti is not your ordinary magician.
With performances on national and international television, in stadiums, arenas, casinos, and theaters around the country, with symphony orchestras, for Fortune 500 companies, and even at The White House, Michael has made a name for himself around the world as an extremely talented and innovative illusionist. Over the past 20 years, Michael has strived to make magic contemporary and to give it a wide, mainstream appeal while taking his magic in new and daring directions. He has been featured on NBC’s “The World’s Most Dangerous Magic II”, CW’s “Masters of Illusion”, “Entertainment Tonight”, “SportsCenter”, New York Today, FOX & Friends, “The Bold and the Beautiful”, Crook & Chase, and The Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon.
Possessing a true passion for amazing live audiences, Michael has performed at Heinz Hall with Oscar-winning composer Marvin Hamlisch and the Pittsburgh Symphony, Grand Central Station in New York City, Navy Pier in Chicago, John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville, VA, the Four Seasons Resort in Lanai, Hawaii, on the red carpet of ESPN's ESPY Awards in Hollywood, and at The White House Easter Celebration. Last year, Michael was honored to be the first illusionist ever invited to perform in America’s Independence Day Parade in Washington DC. During this national celebration of our country, Michael levitated a girl high above one of the floats as it moved down Constitution Avenue, in front of a live audience of 250,000 people.
Michael was also one of the headlining performers in “Masters of Magic”, a large-scale production show which ran nightly for two months at the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino, in Reno, Nevada, on what is the world's largest indoor stage
Michael's personality and style were introduced to the world when he performed his original creation “The Spike Tower” on the NBC television special “The World’s Most Dangerous Magic II”. While covered with a mixture of gasoline and kerosene and secured by chains, Michael had only sixty seconds to escape before two walls of flaming steel spikes were thrust towards him at over 50mph. Bringing together seven illusionists from around the world, at just 21, Michael was the youngest performer on the show.
In the 2014 CW television series “Masters of Illusion”, hosted by Dean Cain (Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, Hit The Floor), Michael was featured, in five episodes, with his original grand illusions. Also during the show, special guest Ace Young, star of American Idol and Hair on Broadway, assisted Michael onstage for his “Walking Through Steel” illusion.
In addition, Michael has created and developed custom presentations for Fortune 500 companies and major corporations including Mazda, Hewlett Packard, Grainger, Ernst & Young, The American Marketing Association, Harley-Davidson, Rite Aid, and Bayer.
As a respected Creative Consultant, Michael has taught sleight of hand magic to the actors on the CBS Daytime Drama The Bold and the Beautiful, consulted on a national commercial featuring magic for the United States Treasury, and provided historical information for “Spellbound”, a biographical book on famed illusionist Doug Henning. His original illusion designs have been featured around the world, including stage productions in Japan, Korea, and Italy. Michael was even called about the possibility of making Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, magically appear – before it was built!
Michael Grandinetti is making the ancient art of magic charismatic and contemporary. By blurring the line between illusion and reality in a groundbreaking yet personable way, Michael gives the audience an engaging, entertaining, one of a kind experience they will not forget.
Start A New Life Free Of Liberals With “Conservative Move” (HBO)
You can’t pick your family, but you can pick your friends. And if they start to vote differently than you, some families are willing to pick up, leave and find new friends. Sick of states that permit legal marijuana? Same-sex marriages? Laws that permit transgender people to use the bathroom of their choice? What if there were a better way?
Last year, VICE News went to McKinney, Texas to check out Conservative Move - a real estate company that says it has the solution to living a life free of liberals. They’ll try to find you a place to live, a job with a decent wage, and the best schools for your children, in Texas or any other Republican stronghold.

Winter Storm 2012 Oakland Commercial Part Deux (HD)!
Winter Storm 2012 coming to Oakland Saturday, December 15th!
WinterStorm2012.com
Concept:
At first, many may not understand the relationship between the first and the second films. Upon a little closer inspection however, the relationship between the two is actually quite familiar. In the first commercial, the initial surprise to our viewers was likely due to how we showed seemingly juxtaposing objects within the film with an eclectic mix of hip-hop music, glow sticks and Eritrean tradition. Seeing any of these objects individually however, many of us would not have had the same reaction. One of the issues that we wanted to address was how we imagine Eritreanism and Americanism as two opposite poles that we must oscillate around separately; both physically and mentally. Seeing images from both together may thus initially appear shocking but perhaps, unnecessarily so. Eritrean-Americans are unique in that our history in the United States is somewhat recent and therefore, not too much discourse and attention has been given to defining and understanding this identity. Many of us, as the first generation of Eritrean-Americans raised in America find ourselves in a community with an infrastructure built around a different generation of Eritreans in America. In this commercial, we had a young Eritrean-American woman dressed in attire inspired from the Eritrean revolution and had her march across Downtown Oakland during the Art Murmur Festival with an Eritrean flag. This was in order to illustrate how our organizing as an Eritrean-American community with its newness is an act of pioneering. Obviously, there were mixed reactions from the residents of Oakland as most were either curious or excited to see one of the fastest growing communities in the Oakland expressing themselves with the occupy mentality Oakland is now known for. In summary, we began in the mountains with a new consciousness and marched through the city with dignity. Sound familiar? This is the story of the Eritrean revolution made relevant to our generation of Eritrean-Americans! Welcome to Oakland! See you Saturday December 15th at Winter Storm!
The Revolution is Ongoing!

San Diego Underground Music Flyers 1980s-1990s Top 20 Picks
San Diego has always had a great underground music scene, with lots of clubs and bands. During the 1980s and 1990s, I collected some cool flyers from various concerts around town. I like the art. It's vibrant, raw, and a little uncouth. Plus it's free! Here's some of the flyers featured in this video. Music is by the great San Diego band Dama, from their CD 2000 AD; the song is Less Is More. I saw them play at the Pacific Beach Street Fair many years ago, and the singer gave me this CD personally. It's a great CD!

John Barrowman Strikes Back Arrow Phoenix Comicon Panel Torchwood Doctor Who Myles
He does it again! Sweeping the audience off their feet with his incredible charm. He tells an amazing story of how he pranks Stephen Amell on set during their first meeting.
John Barrowman is an Entertainer with a capital E. He sings, he dances, he acts, he presents, he judges - he is a unique talent in the British entertainment industry.
Born on 11 March 1967 in Glasgow, where he spent his early years, John moved with his family to Illinois in the United States and later studied Musical Theatre at the US International University in San Diego, California.
In 1989, while in the UK to study Shakespeare as part of his university course, he landed his first professional role starring as Billy Crocker opposite Elaine Paige in the Cole Porter musical Anything Goes. Since then, John's career as a leading man in musical theatre has seen him star in many West End shows, including Matador, Miss Saigon, The Phantom Of The Opera, and Sunset Boulevard. He also reprised the role of Joe Gillis in Sunset Boulevard on Broadway. Sam Mendes' premiere production of The Fix at the Donmar Warehouse garnered John an Olivier Award nomination as Best Actor in a Musical, and in 2002 he returned to the role of Billy Crocker for the hugely successful National Theatre revival of Anything Goes.
He appeared in the West End most recently as Albin/Zaza in the Menier Chocolate Factory's award-winning production of La Cage Aux Folles, performing to full houses for nine weeks in 2009. This role won John the 2010 What's On Stage award for Best Take-over in a Role.
John has also made his name in American television drama, playing Peter Williams in the Aaron Spelling series Titans for NBC and starring in Darren Star's Central Park West for CBS. He returned to US television in Spring 2010 with a five-episode guest-starring role on ABC's Desperate Housewives. He recently appeared in the recurring role of Malcolm Merlyn (aka The Dark Archer) in Arrow, based on the Green Arrow comic books, for The CW network in the US. He also had a guest-starring role as a political fixer in the ABC series, Scandal.
His most famous television role is undoubtedly that of sci-fi hero Captain Jack Harkness, whose first appearance in the revamped Doctor Who created such an impact that he was given his own spin off series, Torchwood. The show achieved the best viewing figures ever on BBC America and has been broadcast around the world. For the fourth series, titled Torchwood: Miracle Day, the BBC teamed up with the US Starz Channel, filming in Wales and the US. The show aired on the Starz Channel and BBC One from July 2011.
Don't forget to watch him and Stephen Amell talk about their first scene together

Driving Downtown - Hollywood 4K - USA
Driving Downtown Neighborhoods - Hollywood - Los Angeles California USA - Episode 17.
Starting Point: Hollywood Boulevard .
Hollywood is an ethnically diverse, densely populated, relatively low-income neighborhood in the central region of Los Angeles, California. It is notable as the home of the U.S. film industry, including several of its historic studios, and its name has come to be a shorthand reference for the industry and the people in it.
Hollywood was a small community in 1870 and was incorporated as a municipality in 1903. It was consolidated with the city of Los Angeles in 1910, and soon thereafter a prominent film industry emerged, eventually becoming the most recognizable film industry in the world.
Motion Picture Industry
Four major film companies – Paramount, Warner Bros., RKO, and Columbia – had studios in Hollywood, as did several minor companies and rental studios. In the 1920s, Hollywood was the fifth-largest industry in the nation.
Hollywood became known as Tinseltown because of the glittering image of the movie industry. Hollywood has since become a major center for film study in the United States.
Development
In 1923, the Hollywood sign was erected in the Hollywood Hills, reading HOLLYWOODLAND, its purpose being to advertise a housing development. In 1949, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce entered a contract with the City of Los Angeles to repair and rebuild the sign. The contract stipulated that LAND be removed to spell HOLLYWOOD and reflect the district, not the housing development.
During the early 1950s, the Hollywood Freeway was constructed through the northeast corner of Hollywood.
The Capitol Records Building on Vine Street, just north of Hollywood Boulevard, was built in 1956, and the Hollywood Walk of Fame was created in 1958 as a tribute to artists and other significant contributors to the entertainment industry. The official opening was on February 8, 1960.
The Hollywood Boulevard Commercial and Entertainment District was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.
The Dolby Theatre, which opened in 2001 as the Kodak Theatre at the Hollywood & Highland Center mall, is the home of the Oscars. The mall is located where the historic Hollywood Hotel once stood.
Revitalization
After years of serious decline in the 1980s, many Hollywood landmarks were threatened with demolition. Columbia Square, at the northeast corner of Sunset Boulevard and Gower Street, is part of the ongoing rebirth of Hollywood. The Art Deco-style studio complex completed in 1938, which was once the Hollywood headquarters for CBS, became home to a new generation of broadcasters when cable television networks MTV, Comedy Central, BET and Spike TV consolidated their offices here in 2014 as part of a $420-million office, residential and retail complex. Since 2000, Hollywood has been increasingly gentrified due to revitalization by private enterprise and public planners.

Racism in German and American Cinema of the Twenties: From The Ancient Law to The Jazz Singer
Yale University professor and filmmaker Charles Musser explores the historical and contemporary perspectives of race relations in German and American cinema from the 1920s by examining The Ancient Law (1923) and The Jazz Singer (1927). He evaluates how each film addresses anti-Semitism as well as the burning question of the history of blackface as a theatrical convention. Recorded on 10/24/2019. [12/2019] [Show ID: 35016]

Barry Edelstein In Conversation with Jack O'Brien
The Old Globe presented a one-night-only event, Barry Edelstein In Conversation with Jack O'Brien, on Monday, Dec. 2 at 7:00 p.m. This special discussion between Old Globe Artistic Director Barry Edelstein and Old Globe Artistic Director Emeritus Jack O'Brien explored the history of The Old Globe and O'Brien's new memoir about his early years in theater, Jack Be Nimble: The Accidental Education of an Unintentional Director.
Jack O'Brien is an American master and one of San Diego's greatest contributions to American culture, said Edelstein. I am honored to welcome him back to a place that is, after all, his home, and thrilled to be able to bask in his art, wisdom, and abundant wit. His book is delightful and nourishing on many levels, and I'm pleased to commend it to his hometown crowd.
Old Globe Artistic Director Emeritus and three-time Tony Award winner Jack O'Brien served as the Artistic Director of The Old Globe from 1982 through 2007. O'Brien currently serves as director of this season's Broadway production of Macbeth starring Ethan Hawke. His Broadway credits also include The Nance, Dead Accounts, Catch Me If You Can, Impressionism, The Coast of Utopia (Tony Award), Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (Tony nomination), Henry IV (Tony Award), Hairspray (Tony Award), Imaginary Friends, The Invention of Love (Tony nomination, Drama Desk Award), The Full Monty (Tony nomination), More to Love, Getting Away with Murder, Pride's Crossing, The Little Foxes, Hapgood (Lucille Lortel Award, Best Director), Damn Yankees, Two Shakespearean Actors (Tony nomination), and Porgy and Bess (Tony Award). He also directed the Metropolitan Opera production of II Trittico. His London credits include Love Never Dies and Hairspray (Olivier nomination), as well as the National Theatre production of His Girl Friday. He also directed six movies for PBS's American Playhouse. His awards include 2008 Theatre Hall of Fame Inductee, 2005 John Houseman Award, ArtServe Michigan 2008 International Achievement Award, Honorary Doctorate at University of Michigan, and Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters at University of San Diego. Jack Be Nimble: The Accidental Education of an Unintentional Director, his memoir about the early years of his career, was released this summer by Farrar, Straus and Giroux.
Old Globe Artistic Director Barry Edelstein is a stage director, producer, author, and educator. Widely recognized as one of the leading authorities on the works of Shakespeare in the United States, he has directed nearly half of the Bard's works. As Director of the Shakespeare Initiative at The Public Theater (2008-2012), he oversaw all of the company's Shakespearean productions, as well as its extensive educational, community outreach, and artist-training programs. At The Public, Edelstein staged Julius Caesar starring Jeffrey Wright for Shakespeare in the Park and The Merchant of Venice featuring Ron Leibman's Obie Award-winning portrayal of Shylock. He was also Associate Producer of The Public's Broadway production of The Merchant of Venice starring Al Pacino. From 1998-2003 he was Artistic Director of Classic Stage Company, where he produced and directed some of New York's most memorable classical productions. Edelstein's Shakespearean directorial credits include The Winter's Tale with David Strathairn, Timon of Athens with Richard Thomas, As You Like It with Gwyneth Paltrow, and Richard III with John Turturro. His additional credits include the Lucille Lortel Award-winning revival of Arthur Miller's All My Sons; the world premiere of Steve Martin's The Underpants, which he commissioned; Molière's The Misanthrope starring Uma Thurman in her stage debut; and the world premiere of novelist Nathan Englander's play The Twenty-Seventh Man. Edelstein has taught Shakespearean acting at The Juilliard School, NYU's Graduate Acting Program, and the University of Southern California. His book Thinking Shakespeare (called by New York magazine a must-read for actors) was published in 2007 and is now the standard text on American Shakespearean acting. He is also the author of Bardisms: Shakespeare for All Occasions.
