Nestucca Bay National Wildlife Refuge is a U.S. National Wildlife Refuge on Oregon's coast. It lies in southern Tillamook County, on the state's northern coast. It is one of six National Wildlife Refuges comprising the Oregon Coast National Wildlife Refuge Complex and supports one tenth of the world's dusky Canada goose population. The refuge contains at least seven types of habitat, including tidal marsh, tidal mudflats, grassland, woodland, pasture, forested lagg—a transition between raised peat bog and mineral soil—and freshwater bogs, including the southernmost coastal Sphagnum bog habitat on the Pacific Coast.The Sphagnum bog provides habitat for many interesting and unusual species, such as the insect-eating sundew plant and the bog cranberry. Scientists have discovered many layers of sand and peat under Neskowin Marsh indicating a long history of tsunami activity which carries sand from the coastal sand dunes. These might be the best record of tsunami activity within the Cascadia subduction zone.Chinook and coho salmon, coastal cutthroat trout and steelhead are all native to the Nestucca Bay and River system. November through April, the refuge’s short grass pastures provide winter habitats for the previously mentioned dusky Canada goose and the Aleutian cackling goose. Notable winged residents include a variety of migrating shorebirds, peregrine falcons and bald eagles.The refuge was established in 1991, and is on Nestucca Bay at the confluence of the Nestucca and Little Nestucca rivers, ranging 3 to 5 miles (5 to 8 km) south of Pacific City. Across the bay to the west is Nestucca Spit and Robert W. Straub state parks.
The refuge is closed to all public use, except during two special events: one in February and one in October. A viewing area is planned for construction, probably in 2008.In 2010, Oregon writer Matt Love published a book about his experience serving as caretaker of the site for nine years during the restoration of the preserve from a one-time dairy farm back to its natural state. Neskowin Oregon

Neskowin is considered an unincorporated community which is located in Tillamook County, Oregon.

The most prominent feature in Neskowin is the large beach where Slab Creek empties into the Pacific Ocean. Just offshore is the tree-lined basalt sea-stack known as Proposal Rock.

In the town of Neskowin, you'll find a general store, restaurant and two golf courses and numerous Rental Homes on the beach. A short drive north will lead you to Nestucca Bay, which is excellent for non-motorized water sports, such as canoeing and kayaking. Neskowin also offers easy access to the Cascade Head Trail which takes you through wonderful stands of spruce and views of the ocean.

We stayed in Room 7 at the Inn at Arch Rock. A quaint place in Depoe Bay Oregon. The view was great. I shot this video with my new Canon Elph camera. It records video in 1080p HD.This camera did a great job IMHO.

At the northern tip of the central Oregon coast lies a small beach town known as Neskowin village. Something of a secret, with a year-around population that hasn’t topped 200, this is a cherished place with a 3 mile stretch of sandy beach along dune-land and basalt cliffs south to the curve of the Cascade Headland and north to Pacific City. The village is known for it’s early 1900’s cottages and is surrounded by hillsides with many small estates and family beach hideaways. At the north end of Neskowin is a casually singular enclave called Sahhali Shores, which is sited above the oceanfront dunes. On the most westerly-built point of Sahhali is the Whale Point Drive home. A modern sculpture of glass and vertical cedar set into the basalt hillside with 180 degrees unobstructed views up and down the coast. Eric Schnell, Design Director with Alan Mascord Design Associates exercised a sublime aesthetic with this statement property using organic materials inside and out to truly blend this home with the indescribably raw and wild beauty of the Oregon coast. This home is a custom design with art glass pieces by Walter Gordinier incorporated into the entry stair landing and the eating bar in the open concept kitchen, the home was built by the very well regarded custom residential builder Emmerson & Morgan, known for the exquisite custom woodwork that is so visually appealing thru-out this residence.
Floors of slate and bamboo, 3 floor stairwell atrium, wood paneled elevator, programmable whole house lighting custom done, 7-zone hydronic floor heat, and recirculating hot water system.
The floor to ceiling glass not only takes in the incredible views from every room but allows for very efficient passive solar, thoughtfulness was in play with the roll-in showers both at the main floor bath and in the master, along with no step level entry to the home itself. The main floor media room includes a home theater projector and also has a custom Pullman bed blending into the built-in shelving; this room would make an easy conversion to a main level 2nd master suite with it’s private deck and adjacent bath.
Many luxurious features, built-in Bose sound system (including master bath and main deck), private decks or patios off all bedrooms and main areas, Wenge wood and granite counter in main bath & Irid glass tiles, Anigree and cherry wood double sink counter in master bath, Marble counters and ocean view jetted tub in guest bath, built –in coffee bar and prep sink in custom gourmet kitchen with granite counters and hand-made custom cabinetry, 8 foot solid wood interior doors, Ipe decking, full double pane glass/commercial aluminum garage door, and standing seam metal roof with 40 year Kynar paint. This home is built to last the millennia.
The location is sited above protected dune land to the west directly overlooking the ocean and to the north the property is adjacent immediately to an easy beach trail though preserved wildlife refuge land.
A property and a place that combined create a seldom achieved art of living.
