The North Downs Way, passes through the Surrey Hills and the Kent Downs from Farnham to Dover and offers magnificent views and fascinating heritage, following the legendary and historic Pilgrim’s Way.
Commissioned by Marketing Peak District and Visit England, a video was created to promote 7 of England's long distance walking trails. Each video aims to showcase highlights of each trail, whilst conveying some of the experience of walking the trail.
Filming the video series was fantastic. We travelled up and down the UK, visiting some beautiful areas and national parks and all the videos were filmed in 6 weeks.

The North Downs way is a long distance footpath through Surrey to the Kent Coast at Dover. UK It is 156 miles long, including a loop via Canterbury at the eastern end. The path runs along the chalk ridge of the North Downs The North Downs Way is 153 miles long. It runs from Farnham on the edge of the Surrey Hills to Dover. The route follows ancient trackways along the chalk ridges and wooded down land of Surrey and Kent through Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, grazing the southern edge of greater London and ending at the celebrated White Cliffs, with an optional loop via Canterbury.

The North Downs Way National Trail broadly follows the historic Pilgrims Way along the Downs to Canterbury. The first 14 miles are over sandy countryside to the south of the Downs. The Downs are first reached at Newlands Corner, east of Guildford and from there on the Trail mainly follows the crest of the southern escarpment of the North Downs or footpaths and tracks along their lower slopes.
There are views over the Weald to the South Downs and several steepish ascents where the ridge is cut by valleys, notably those of the Mole at Box Hill, the Darent at Otford, the Medway at Rochester, and the Stour near Wye.
Generally the route provides comparatively easy walking through woods, over chalk grassland and, especially in Kent, through orchards and farmland. At Boughton Lees there is a choice of routes. The direct one goes through Wye, over the Downs to Folkestone and along the cliffs to Dover..
I have also walked the The alternative follows hills to the west of the river Stour and passes through orchards and the picturesque village of Chilham to Canterbury. From the cathedral city it heads south-east via Barham Downs, Shepherdswell and Waldershare Park to Dover. Canterbury Cathedral, St Augustine's Abbey, and St Martin's Church form a World Heritage Site.
The Pilgrims Way is an ancient track between Winchester and Canterbury. Though not itself a single promoted long distance path, it is approximated by the St Swithun's and North Downs Ways though the Pilgrims Way often keeps to the spingline. Today it is one of the most beautiful and historic cities in England. The medieval city centre bustles with famous name stores and exclusive boutiques while the picturesque side streets are home to smaller specialist shops, pubs and restaurants
The North Downs Way is a long-distance National Trail located in the south-east corner of mainland Britain. The Downs Link is a 37 mile footpath and bridleway linking the North Downs Way at St. Martha's Hill in Surrey with the South Downs Way near Steyning in West Sussex and on via the Coastal Link to Shoreham-by-Sea.

The South Downs Way is an incredible 100-mile path and I'm walking the entire trail!
Stretching from Winchester in Hampshire to Eastbourne in Sussex, the South Downs Way is one of Britain's longest national scenic trails. It's the perfect practice route for anyone beginning to hike longer distances, for practicing wild camping and generally living like a true hiker. I'm hiking the South Downs over two weekends averaging 20 miles a day. The first weekend I'll be hiking to Amberly which marks the halfway point and the following weekend I'll be hiking the rest. I hope you enjoy!

Hiking the UK's Oldest & Most Challenging National Trail: The Pennine Way
I rarely know what to expect when I set off on an adventure and my trip to the Peak District and Derbyshire in the United Kingdom was no different. I must admit, I may have held a slight prejudice in thinking that UK wouldn't quite compare to the exotic beauty of other locations, but man was I wrong. I was constantly surprised at the amount of natural beauty and stunning views to be found along the Pennine Way, Britain’s oldest and most challenging National Trail. Setting off from the Old Nags Head in Edale, and every step along the 268-mile long trail to Scotland, the trail had plenty of adventure.
There are so many charms to the Pennine Way, it was a pleasure to hike. The day that stands out to me the most was the day we hiked from Low Force Falls all the way to High Cup Nick. This 17-mile day had plenty of beauty, capped off by one of the most stunning campsites I've had the pleasure of camping at. The views there will stick with me for a long time.
Getting to climb on world-class grit stone was quite the experience. I can see why so many climbers migrate to the Peak District. Friendly locals, great local fare, caving at Alum Pot, and the opportunity to climb at Stanage was fantastic—Peak District & Derbyshire offers so much more than just great hiking and I hope you enjoy this episode of Trackin’ Dirt as much as I enjoyed my time in England!

BOX HILL CIRCULAR WALKS NEAR LONDON KENT HIKING NEAR DORKING
There are many fine viewpoints on this circular walk and in several places you can see your earlier route from a new perspective. This part of the North Downs is deservedly popular and the famous sites are likely to be busy on fine weekends, but there are some quieter places in between.
Norbury Park Nature Reserve is described by Surrey Wildlife Trust as a ‘working landscape’ which includes a sawmill and three farms. The prominent house at its centre (in private ownership) was built in 1774 and has had several famous owners and tenants, including Leopold Salomons, who donated Box Hill to the National Trust in 1914, and Dr Marie Stopes, the family planning pioneer.
Box Hill and Headley Heath are both owned by the National Trust, which has introduced special breeds of sheep and cattle to restore more of the downland to its original ‘unimproved’ condition; unfertilized land is richer in wild flowers. This diversity also supports many butterflies: 40 of the 58 British species have been found on Box Hill.
