Horse Plays Donkey To Escape Death At Killing Facility
FRISCO -- On 200 acres in Frisco, Sue Chapman's life mission is to save as many animals as possible. About once a month Chapman and her non-profit Becky's Hope Horse Rescue make the trek to so-called kill pens in North Texas.
Horse slaughter isn't legal in the United States, and as a result many sick or homeless animals end up on trucks and are sent to Mexico.
Last week's mission wasn't to save a horse... rather to save a mini donkey. Nine of them.
They raised enough money to save the sick, weak animals from near-certain death. As they were loading the trailer they noticed one animal that stood out, way above the crowd.
He just stood there patiently. He didn't try to shoo the donkeys away. He didn't try to fight with them. He just stood there like 'I'm a donkey and you don't realize that I look any different,' said Chapman.
The horse somehow made his way from his pen to Chapman's crews... almost as if he was waiting for a ride home.
I don't know if he just decided at that moment that he loved donkeys, or if he decided at that moment that he's the donkeys' caretaker, Chapman said.
Chapman knew they were likely his last and only chance.
There is no way that a frost-bitten 25-year-old gelding with the personality of a giant lap dog was going to be rescued by someone, she said.
Chapman bought the horse and posted his picture and back story to Facebook -- they named him Bubbles.
In just a few days his post has been shared thousands of times, and the donations have poured in from around the world.
The horse that escaped slaughter by blending in with a group of donkeys.
I sit here with tears in my eye, even now, because it was as if Bubbles became of hope for so many of us.
Today Bubbles is wandering the grass of his new home where he'll live out the rest of his life, and those donkeys... they'll be right there with him.

Ghost Town History
Ghost Town Museum was created in 1954 to preserve a piece of Colorado's Wild West heritage.
In 1858 the cry Pikes Peak or Bust opened up the heartland of the Colorado territory to the gold prospector. Gold mining became a significant factor that led to the statehood of Colorado. The miners and the people who provided services to them quickly populated the western frontier of the United States. They needed transportation, and before long the twin steel ribbons of the railroads were pushing into the mountains to transport ore for processing.
Towns sprang up overnight and by the 1860's and 1870's people had blanketed the west. It was a rough and tumble time. Small encampments became small towns. Small cities along the rocky mountain Front Range provided a central location for supplies and services. The search for gold drove prospectors to every mountain valley, and every mountain peak. If gold or silver were not located, or if the mines played out, the towns were often abandoned to become ghost towns.
Little by little the raw spirit of the frontier died down. By the time gold was discovered in Cripple Creek in 1891, the frontier was almost gone. Today almost nothing remains of those exciting days of the old west. A scattered pile of old lumber, a tumbled pile of rocks marking an old mine, an occasional wagon wheel or a piece of equipment. The rip roaring camps of 100 years ago have become ghost towns now only a memory of a bygone era.

My Boy's First Trail Ride (& Wreck ????)- Mountain Biking Royal Gorge Park outside Cañon City, CO
My family and I went to the Royal Gorge outside of Cañon City, Colorado. I hadn't been there since I was 12 years old, when it was still the tallest suspension bridge in the world. It's still currently the highest suspension bridge in the United States. There are a ton of activities for families, including a few spots to eat, a carousel & playground, a terraced park with a stage for concerts, a crazy swing that goes out over the canyon, ziplines across the canyon, and gondolas that go back and forth all day. Just outside the park there is a trail system that looks pretty cool, and since Owen asked me to go for a ride, I found a green trail with a slight and constant descent to ride with him. We quickly figured out he might not be ready for trail, but at that point it was too late to turn around, and after riding 1/4 of the 2 mile trail, he fell and put his hand into a cactus. Game over. I figured out how to bail out and get him and his bike back to the car, and then I climbed back to my bike and rode the rest of the short trail.
