Indianapolis is in the Nine-County Region of Indiana, right at the center of the state. It is the state capital and largest city of Indiana, United States, and is in Marion County. The population within city limits is approximately 830,000 people, making it the 12th largest city in the US. The metropolitan area has about 2 million (23rd in the US). Indianapolis is also known as the Racing Capital of the World due to the proximity of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, home of the Indy 500 and Allstate 400 at the Brickyard (formerly known as the Brickyard 400).
The name Indianapolis is simply Indiana joined with polis, the Greek word for city. The founders of Indianapolis expected it to be the Great Inland Port, but they neglected to consider the fact that the White River is impossible to navigate most of the year; other than during the spring, it is a melange of sandbars and temporary islands. However, this port-desire left the city with a beautiful, if useless, canal district.
The tallest building in Indianapolis is the Salesforce Tower, standing at 830 feet. The second is the One America Tower standings at 533 feet, and the third is the One Indiana Tower standing at a height of 504 feet. The fourth and fifth are the Market Tower (421 feet) and 300 North Meridian (408 feet). The sixth and seventh tallest are the M&I Plaza (401 feet), and the seventh tallest is the JW Marriott Indianapolis (376 feet): the JW Marriott Indianapolis is the tallest hotel in the state and the largest JW Marriott in the world.
Clean-cut Indy is the state capital and a perfectly pleasant place to ogle race cars and take a spin around the renowned speedway. The art museum and White River State Park have their merits, as do the Mass Ave and Broad Ripple hoods for eating and drinking. And fans of author Kurt Vonnegut are in for a treat. A swell walking and biking trail connects it all.
Indianapolis is called the Crossroads of America. The city is warm in the summer, with average highs in the mid-80s in June, July, and August. Indianapolis has a typical mid-western winter. January is the coldest month, with an average high of 34 degrees.

Haan Mansion Museum of Indiana Art
The Haan Museum is three museums in one, all housed in a mansion that served as the Connecticut Building at the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair. The Museum is known for its outstanding collection of historic Indiana paintings, including the best works by T.C. Steele. We also display hundreds of Indiana ceramics – including tables, chairs, figural works, and architectural forms as well as bronze and stone sculptures and glass. A major collection of massive antique American furniture adds to the homey feel.

Indianapolis Museum of Art Wedding | Justin + Claire
|Copyright Northernlight Filmworks|
This was an Indianapolis Museum of Art Wedding we filmed. Claire and Justin are one of those couples that stand out as being very sentimental and obviously in love. One thing about our interview segments is that our couples really seem to open up and are authentic about their relationship. We are always intrigued by how people meet and how things seem to fall into place in a round about way. They both have solid families that have raised them very well, which is a great foundation for their own marriage.
Indiana has experienced a very rainy summer and we were watching the forecast for this outdoor wedding a week out. As we got closer to the date, it was apparent that we would not escape the storm. We know it was heart breaking for Claire as she really wanted the ceremony outside on the beautiful grounds of the Indianapolis Museum of Art. Although we were able to get some photos outside and the first look, the wedding was moved indoors, which still has some of the outdoors as a backdrop. An article published in Huffington Post titled, Only You Can Let Bad Weather Ruin Your Wedding Day. Claire said to us, it's ok, I'm going to get married. It is symbolic to all the storms we have weathered. The article in part mentioned that rain on your wedding day is supposed to be lucky or a symbol of fertility. There you go Justin and Claire.
Inside or outside, this wedding was beautiful, not because of the location or the flowers or the cake. Although those are all important things, it really revolves around the couple, their personality, love for each other, authenticity, their family and friends. It was a great day and we wish them all the best. Thank you for entrusting us with the responsibility of documenting your wedding day.

Newfields, a Place for Nature & the Arts Announcement
There’s always been such a wide variety of experiences available at the IMA—strolling the galleries, walking the gardens, seeing performances in the Toby. As a way of acknowledging that our museum is part of a 152-acre campus filled with both art and nature, we’re uniting our diverse elements—the Indianapolis Museum of Art, Lilly House, The Garden, The Virginia B. Fairbanks Art & Nature Park: 100 Acres, and performance spaces—into a single cultural campus. And we’re calling it Newfields, a Place for Nature & the Arts.
