Updated deck and latticework, this wonderful and inviting home has amazing wood finishes inside. Hatteras Island is a unique vacation destination. It has it all! The Island is a barrier island with miles of untouched beaches as 80% of the island cannot be developed but has pristine woods, marshes, and bird preserves all of which are worth seeing. See the historic Chicamacomico Life Saving Station in Rodanthe, the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in Buxton, the famous 'Canadian Hole' in Avon, the capitol of wind and kite surfing on the East Coast, and the many small shops and restaurants on the island. Take a 40-minute ferry ride to Ocracoke Island and see the wild ponies, explore the picturesque harbor and small women's and craft shops on the island, see the famous British cemetery actually part of England, and visit the Ocracoke lighthouse. If fishing is your sport, charter a deep sea boat for tuna, cobia, wahoo, mackerel, mahi-mahi and other Gulf Stream fish, or fish off one of island fishing piers, fish in the Sound or just surf cast off the beach for blues, croakers, drum, and flounder. (Note: See price listing for rates and calendar for availability on the bottom of web page.)
The 'Kayak Kingdom' is what this cottage is. It is 30 feet from the Sound and has a large dock to tie up to and expansive views......the Sound is fairly shallow until you get way out so the waters are safe and paddling is easy. The cottage sits on almost two acres near the point which is all pristine with ducks and herons always around.....the shore along the North side of Hatteras Island is very pretty and full of unspoiled acreage.... with setbacks and other regulations of the Federal government and State of No. Carolina keeping it pristine. Explore the many inlets and small bays which have all natural foliage and wildlife. Or, paddle over to the windsurfing capital of the East between Buxton and Avon and watch the daredevils of the surf become airborne in the ever present winds. After several hours of kayaking come back to the cottage, tie up and jump into the six-person hot tub on the landing to the dock to watch the best sunsets on the island....a glass of fine wine caps off this wonderful experience. There are plenty of restaurants around for a great dining experience after relaxing in the hot tub. Come see a sunset that you will never forget.

UFOs 2019 ????????????North Carolina North Carolina Sea via a Ferry
A fleet of mysterious lights appears over the sea near North Carolina, filmed from a ferry.
William Guy was on a ferry traveling from the village of Ocracoke to Swan Quarters, North Carolina on September 18, 2019 when he noticed a fleet of strange bright lights in the sky on which he had begun to record this strange event.
William said there were about 25 people on the ferry who had seen him too. They also registered the fire fleet and nobody has ever seen it before.
We can assume that these lights are not flares, because we can not find any source in the whole area that could have flared flares.
What could these lights be?

Outer Banks Storms and Stars 2018
A 4K time-lapse video of some of my favorite scenes while at the Outer Banks in late May and early June, 2018. Most of this footage was captured within the same 12 hours as a storm system approached the Outer Banks, and then pulled away to reveal the rising Milky Way and then the rising moon. The lighthouse in the video is the Bodie Island Lighthouse, and most of the footage was captured near Rodanthe.
Kiteboarders in the video were visiting from across the world to participate in the Wind Voyager Triple-S Invitational, an international kiteboarding competition. The competition runs from June 3 to June 8, 2018, and June 2 was the opening ceremony.

Sunset On Cape Hattaras to Ocracoke Island Ferry, North Carolina - Highlights
Highlights of a ferry ride from Cape Hattaras to Ocracoke Island via Pamico Sound in North Carolina's outer banks. The breathtaking sunset sets the sky and water ablaze with color. The ferry to and from Cape Hattaras requires no reservation, is free and runs about every half hour depending on the season. See the links below for more accurate info.
Occracoke Island is the crown jewel of the outer banks, awash in history and beauty. While I was there I hung out with locals under a tree that Black Beard himself would frequent when drinking his rum, then the next day watched as kids fished with nets not a dozen yards from where the old pirate was beheaded. I learned the islands WWII history and was treated to a low altitude flyover by a formation of old P51 Mustangs. I enjoyed both fine dining and raucous drinking just a short walk from my historic old hotel. I highly suggest spending at least a day on this almost entirely protected gem of an island.

UFO's in Greensboro, NC on 11/11/11
This was taken at 6pm on 11/11/11 in Greensboro, NC. There were more that flew by before I was able to pull over and video. There were also more that came after. I was able to catch 8 on video.
I stopped to make a few phone calls, I wish I had kept filming. It's on a camera phone so it's not the best quality. They were a reddish orange color, the the lights glowed, never blinking (although it seems like it in the video)
After the last one had passed overhead, a low flying plane headed in the same direction but from a different starting angle.
They made no sound, and flowed so smoothly as they passed over. When the got off a distance, they faded away, but later when the plane passed, I could see it's lights blinking for miles upon miles.
I only wish more people would say something, there were just too many for no one to have seen them. Any thoughts? Or similar sightings? Thanks for viewing
Power Outage & Stare of Emergency near NEW North Carolina Island
This story is fishy, y'all. 10,000 Tourists were evacuated & Non-Residents are forbidden to enter the Hatteras & Ocracoke Islands after a Power Company reportedly broke the electricity and the back up generator. Residents are warned that power may not return for weeks to the North Carolina outer banks.
Maybe I am reading too much into this & should stick to Occam's Razor, but it is weird that this happened at the place where a new island showed up almost overnight a few weeks ago.
God bless everyone.,

State of emergency issued after Outer Banks power outage
Thousands were without power on Ocracoke and Hatteras islands on Thursday and officials were unsure when it will be restored.
The Cape Hatteras Electric Cooperative said on Thursday that it could take several days or even weeks before power can be restored on Hatteras and Ocracoke.
A state of emergency was issued Thursday, according to Hyde County officials, and visitors to Ocracoke were told to evacuate so work could proceed on restoring power.
PCL Construction, the company building the new Bonner Bridge, told CHEC that at about 4:30 a.m. on Thursday, its crews drove a steel casing into the underground transmission cable running between the south end of the bridge and the overhead riser pole, causing the outage.
CHEC was working to provide temporary power to Buxton, Frisco and part of Hatteras Village on Thursday using the diesel generating plant. CHEC was bringing in additional portable generators to supplement the plant Thursday evening.
Once in place, CHEC planned to initiate rolling blackouts. But that will only be possible if the load is at a minimum level, CHEC said in a Facebook post. So people in the area were asked to conserve energy by turning off AC units and water heaters and minimizing other electric use.
Tideland Electric said an attempt to run the Ocracoke generator failed Thursday, resulting in damage that could make it inoperable. Three mobile generators were headed to the island and expected on Friday.
There were no impacts to roads or bridges in Dare County as of Thursday, according to county officials.
Gov. Roy Cooper declared a state of emergency for the islands on Thursday, which allows the governor to mobilize resources to respond to the power outage. The order Cooper signed also waives restrictions on weight and hours of service for fuel, utility and other truck drivers who may be working to deliver supplies and other resources needed in the affected areas.
“This declaration will allow us to move much needed resources through the state as quickly as possible to help restore the power to Ocracoke and Hatteras Islands,” Cooper said in a statement.

The Haunting of Ocracoke Island - Our Haunted Travels
The Haunting of Ocracoke Island
Sit back my friends and listen to the tales of this little island off the coast of North Carolina. There are many ghost stories and legends behind the haunting of Ocracoke Island.
Ocracoke is a village on Ocracoke Island, part of North Carolina's coastal Outer Banks region. The landmark 1823 Ocracoke Lighthouse overlooks the village and Pamlico Sound. Set in an early 1900s house, the Ocracoke Preservation Society Museum traces the island’s history. Nearby, the tiny British Cemetery contains the graves of WWII sailors. Silver Lake is dotted with boats, and shops and restaurants line its harbor.

Her Dress Was A Map Song
I am not sure of the title of this gag song, but Her Dress Was A Map Song seems likely. It is sure to appeal to geography fans.
Performed by Gary Mitchell and Dave Tweedie, members of Molasses Creek on 17 Sep 2014 at Deepwater Theater on Ocracoke, North Carolina.
Members of Molasses Creek
Gary Mitchell
Vocals, Guitar, Bass
Gary began his performing career at 13 years old with his friend Jim Harper in the folk duet “Ham & Eggs” in Burlington, NC. In his first year at North Carolina State University, he met Gerald Hampton and Stan Brown and discovered bluegrass. After recording 2 albums with “The Wahoo Revue”, Gary went on to play with a number of rock bands (including The Aliens, The Boar Cats, Good Question, and the Ocracoke Rockers) and cabaret theater with his wife Kitty. In 1993 Gary, Kitty and David Tweedie started Molasses Creek and recorded their first album at Doug Rorrer’s studio in Eden, NC. In 1994 Gary began doing his own recording here on the island and has continued engineering and producing numerous albums for Molasses Creek and many other regional artists in his “Soundside Studio”. Gary was responsible for the creation of the “Ocrafolk” label, starting with the “Ocrafolk Music Sampler” series, the “Ocrafolk Opry” variety show, the “Ocrafolk Festival”, and most recently the “Ocrafolk School”.
Fiddler Dave Tweedie
Vocals, Fiddle, Cittern
Fiddler Dave grew up sawing away on the violin in orchestras in Oklahoma. After repeatedly having his tapping foot nailed down by conductors he set aside his fiddle for theatrical pursuits. Halfway through his college career in North Carolina, Dave discovered Appalachian Old-Time and Celtic fiddling. Soon after he became Fiddler Dave (fiddling for breakfast, lunch, and dinner). When Gary Mitchell invited him to Ocracoke Island for the summer of 1993, Molasses Creek was born!
Upon graduation from Davidson College in 1994, he received a Thomas J. Watson Fellowship to travel for a year studying changes in fiddling in the Shetland Islands, Scotland, Ireland, and Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. After many months of walking into villages with his fiddle on his back, hunting down like-minded tune collectors, Fiddler Dave returned to Ocracoke Island, where he married Amy Howard (a descendent of the quartermaster on Blackbeard’s ship!). To this day, he continues his pursuit of great music, food, quality island life, and wrangling his pirate son, Lachlan. He loves gardening, breadbaking, and woodworking with scraps of lumber that wash up on the beach.
Marcy Brenner
Vocals, Mandolin, Banjolin, Guitar, Bass, Cittern, Percussion
Marcy Brenner started her musical career Alexandria, VA, playing flute and violin in the elementary school band. She received a pawn-shop guitar for her 10th birthday and was a classical guitarist until at 14 she joined her first basement rock band. While earning her business degrees at Radford University in the Blue Ridge Mountains she found folk music. She spent twenty years in California on the “other side of the desk” of the music business until returning home to her Southern roots – finding her husband Lou Castro and together, the vibrant artistic community on Ocracoke. Marcy is also a songwriter and breast cancer survivor advocate.
Lou Castro
Guitar, Dobro, Pedal Steel, Bass, Vocals
Lou Castro started his musical career as a child dragging his Mickey Mouse record player behind his bicycle by its power cable in Philadelphia, PA. He soon graduated to the broom, then the badminton racket and then the tennis racket. He took classical piano lessons from age nine until eleven when he picked up a REAL guitar. Louie graduated from Berklee College of Music and is married to band member Marcy Brenner.

Back to the Banks
I have never really been fond of the beach. The sand got in your shorts and shoes. The salt air made everything sticky. When you swam in the ocean, the salt water burned your eyes and left a bad taste in your mouth. Growing up, I spent many a summer at the beach. Whether it was at a little known Minnesott Beach on the Neuse River at my grandparent's cottage, or camping on the tourist filled Myrtle Beach with my parents, I can almost say I grew up at the beach, or at least near the beach. As much fun as that might sound, I really didn't like the beach. Once I had kids of my own and we started going places, it got to the point that I almost loathed the beach. I avoided it almost at all cost. The times that I did go, I went out of my way to avoid the sand and salt water.
But as I have grown older, I have come to realize that I only loathed the beach because I didn't really understand it. I never took the time to get to know it for what it really was and the beauty that it truly holds. I never had the foresight to look beyond the things I disliked about it and immerse myself into the wondrous place it really is. Paddling in the basins, lagoons, sounds and coastal backwaters has reconnected me with the beach. It brought back a flood of memories from my childhood that I wouldn't trade for all the riches in the world. It has allowed me to see the beach and the ocean with new eyes and accept the fact that in everything you dislike, you can always find something to like and in everything you like there are things you dislike. (I still hate sand in my shorts and I swear sand fleas were put here by God to torture us) I have been to the coastal waters three times this year, and more times in the last year than I have in the previous 25. It is becoming one of my favorite places to visit.
On Valentine's weekend Ladybug and I found ourselves again traveling by ferry across the Pamlico Sound to that thin ribbon of sand dunes and tidal marsh on the Outer Banks. This time we were on a mission to Ocracoke to pick up a kayak I purchased for Ladybug from an outfitter on the island. It afforded us a chance to see the Ocracoke Lighthouse and visit a part of the Banks that we had not been to in a long time. We spent the remainder of our weekend in Kitty Hawk and Manteo before making a quick stop on the way home in Plymouth to scout out an upcoming trip in April. Even though the weather really didn't cooperate with us to the point that we were able to get in a little paddling, we still had a wonderful weekend making memories that I will tuck away along with all the rest I have that I wouldn't trade for anything.
