Tallulah Gorge State Park and Campground with Panther Creek Trail side trip
We camped at Tallulah Gorge State Park for 5 days mid September and had a blast. We stayed at the Park’s Campground Terrora Campground.
We had a premium site which meant it was a paved site that had 30/50amp and water. (No sewer but there is a dump station). The regular sites are gravel and like ours have a concrete unmovable picnic table and fire pit. The campground has a paved trail that branches off to all the attractions (the trail to the visitor center from this path is not paved BUT there is a paved path from the visitor center to one of the lookouts)
The rim trails are not strenuous unless you decide to cut across the bridge. (Dogs are not allowed on the bridge) We both did the gorge hike and it was strenuous and it was an unmarked trail. If I did it again I would enter and exit from hurricane falls platform...even if it took longer. It is good for you to know that Whitewater boating releases make kayaking the falls an option the first 3 weekends in Nov from 8-4. The park also does “aesthetic releases” on some weekends for which they post the dates in advance (Just know this means no gorge floor or sliding rock access)
We loved the DAYUSE area across the road with the lake, swim area , kayak launch, Terrora trails, old jail and the paved multi use Shortline trail. Our camphost was helpful and we were allowed to lock up our kayaks at their kayak launch.
While we enjoyed the park trails a lot- We both thought the best overall trail was the nearby (7.5 miles) Panther creek TRAIL (Don’t get this confused with another similar named place called panther creek falls) while this moderate hike was filled with great rock formations and water elements.
It was hard to limit the time on this video and we hope you enjoy it. Please like and subscribe to our channel and you can also follow us on Facebook. Happy Camping!

Panther Creek Falls Georgia Hike
“Live in each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influence of the earth” said Henry David Thoreau. And what better way than to take this quote to heart and begin the 2018 New Year with a walk in the wilderness. A hike in the cold weather, a night under the full moon, and sleeping to the sounds of a roaring waterfall at Panther Creek in North Georgia. This 3.4 (7 miles roundtrip) hike, just outside of Clarksville, takes you through the lush Chattahoochee National Forest through winding dirt trails, past massive rock outcrops, over short wooden bridges and deeper into the mossy woods.

Are you looking for a beautiful place to visit in North Georgia? If so, look no further than Tallulah Gorge State Park.
To be honest I didn't know the name of the park was Tallulah Gorge State Park. You see, I'd heard everyone reference the spot we were visiting as Tallulah Falls (if you watch the video below you'll hear me refer to it as Tallulah Falls). That name isn't too far off considering the town where the state park is located is called Tallulah Falls, however there isn't even a waterfall with the same name.

Desoto Falls Trail is right outside of Helen, GA in the Chattahoochee National Forest. The trail is 2.2 miles round trip, dog-friendly, and easy to moderate. Head up, there is paid parking. $5. At the trailhead you cross a wooden bridge and you can go left to the lower falls or right to the upper falls. Both waterfalls are both beautiful. The trail to the waterfalls are just as beautiful. The trails are through the forest next to a creek. It is a very enjoyable hike.
About 30 minutes from Helen Georgia, legend holds, a piece of armor was found from DeSoto’s expedition in the mid-1500s.

Panther Creek Falls Trail: hiking to one of North Georgia's most beautiful waterfalls
View our complete Panther Creek Falls trail review for directions, maps and detailed info:
Hike or backpack seven miles, round trip, to the stunning Panther Creek Falls, one of North Georgia’s most popular waterfall hikes. Rocky and rooty, the trail is a scenic adventure, trekking to a series of cascading waterfalls and scaling several steep, towering bluffs to reach the hike’s main attraction: the 40+ foot, tumbling cascades on Panther Creek.

Tallulah Falls - Part One
Note:
This video is raw with not editing and audio may not be great neither. This video is intended for you to have an idea of the place and area, and for you to decide or not to make plans to explore it yourself or get in touch with me to put a group together and all of us have fun.
Tallulah Falls
Crossing the George river was an epic experience. It was challenging for me. My son Gabriel Alexander did a great job. The trail in this area arfe just hundreds of boulders, small , big and huge ones. That specific section of the hike was great. we toke 6 bottles ow water and it wasnt enough. Ill suggest 8.
One of the most spectacular canyons in the eastern U.S., Tallulah Gorge is two miles long and nearly 1,000 feet deep. Visitors can hike rim trails to several overlooks, or they can obtain a permit to hike to the gorge floor (100 per day, not available during water releases). A suspension bridge sways 80 feet above the rocky bottom, providing spectacular views of the river and waterfalls.
Free permits are required to access the gorge floor and can be obtained at the Interpretive Center. Visitors must wear proper footwear—no flip-flops or Crocs. Permits will not be issued after 4 p.m. (3 p.m. during daylight savings time).
