Exploring North Georgia: Tallulah Gorge State Park
Exploring North Georgia: Tallulah Gorge State Park
View the Post -
Are you looking for a beautiful place to visit in North Georgia? If so, look no further than Tallulah Gorge State Park.
To be honest I didn't know the name of the park was Tallulah Gorge State Park. You see, I'd heard everyone reference the spot we were visiting as Tallulah Falls (if you watch the video below you'll hear me refer to it as Tallulah Falls). That name isn't too far off considering the town where the state park is located is called Tallulah Falls, however there isn't even a waterfall with the same name.

Hello friends! I hope you enjoy this trip to the gorge and falls.
The gorge is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Georgia. (#6)

The gorge is approximately 2 miles (3 km) long and features rocky cliffs up to 1,000 feet (300 m) high. This video was filmed in 1080p, but I upscaled to 1440p in Premiere Pro to see if the higher bitrate played by the YouTubes would make a difference. Just experimenting...

Tallulah Gorge in Georgia
This past weekend we went to Tallulah Gorge in Rabun county Georgia. We walked the North and South Rim Trails. Then we went to Coleman River Trail. The Coleman River flows into the Tallulah River which flows through the gorge.
The Coleman River Trail was really beautiful!! It was the first time we had been there and we were astonished at the clear crisp water flowing through the river!! Towards the end of the video you will see the river even flows right through a huge hemlock tree. It was really cool. This trail was fairly rugged and not well maintained. There were trees accross the trail and some of the bridges accross the river were pretty rickety!! I also did not like how the trail was very narrow in some places with a very high drop off!! I trip over my own feet often so I was a little nervous!!! :-)

High Falls State Park is a 1,050-acre (4.2 km2) Georgia state park located near the city of Jackson. It is the site of a prosperous 19th-century industrial center, which became a ghost town when it was bypassed by the railroad. The park contains the largest waterfall in middle Georgia and a 650-acre (2.6 km2) lake.
