Travel Vlog #9: Living Underground
We went on the Cappadocia Green Tour. Well now if you know me, I try to avoid taking tours as much as possible but seeing how big Cappadocia is and the only advisable way of travel is by car, we had no other choice. Of course if you can drive and are confident enough then I would encourage you to not take the tour ((:
SPECIAL THANKS to our tour guide Ezgi (honestly not sure how to spell her name haha) for ensuring that everyone understands more about Cappadocia.
HUGE THANKS to Tours4Turkey Travel Agency for arranging our Cappadocia package. As I have mentioned, I normally don't go for packages but in Cappadocia you might just have to unless you can drive around on your own.
Our Cappadocia package included:
- Transport to Denizli bus station
- Bus from Pamukkale to Antalya
- Flight from Antalya to Nevsehir
- Airport transfer to/from Nevsehir airport
- Hot Air Balloon Ride (pick up from hotel)
- Red Tour (pick up from hotel)
- Green Tour (pick up from hotel)
It was worth every dime. If you have any questions about my trip please feel free to ask me :D

Morning feedback inside the coach is important for a travel agency
MVI 9828 Dec 24, 2013, Koru Otel feedback important for travel agency to better its competition. This agency boasts WiFi inside the coach and sometimes we do get the internet connections but mountains may obstruct the signals. I note only one other Turkish coach can boast having Wifi connections inside the coach.
Feedback improves services and Mr Serkam plays an important part as he is on the ground. Mr Serkam is worth every cent to his company and to EU Holidays as he is very caring according to the pretty girl in my group.
A good tour guide gets feedback about hotel accommodation quality and food before the coach moves off in the morning. In this incident, Mr Ong complains that the Koru Hotel room was too cold later in the night. It was too hot at first. My room was OK and over 30 tourists had no comments on heating. Mr Serkam promised to bring up this matter up with his Turkish company which is the agent of EU Holidays.
Halong Bay Luxury Cruise | Signature Cruise
This Halong Bay Luxury Cruise was made possible by:
If you’ve never been to Halong Bay, you need to add taking a luxury cruise through Halong Bay to your bucket list! Halong Bay is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for a good reason. It is one of the most beautiful places we have ever seen! It’s filled with giant lime stone karsts that jut out of the water in every direction for miles.
The best way to experience the bay is by a luxury cruise. There are tons of cruise ship operators offering cruises through Halong Bay. The cruises range from cheap backpack boats to five start luxury cruise ships. Since visiting Halong Bay is most likely a once in a lifetime experience, we decided to splurge on a 5 star luxury cruise to ensure that we had the best experience possible!
We booked our cruise with Signature Cruise and we were elated with our experience. Seriously, we don’t have a bad thing to say about Signature Cruises, and that should mean a lot coming from me because when I splurge on an experience I am very critical. Also, the staff treated us like royalty! They made our experience even better.
Our luxurious cruise through Halong Bay started with an amazing lunch served while we were cruising to a floating fishing village. After arriving at the floating village we were rowed around the village in a row boat by one of the women who lived in the floating village. After our row boat ride was completed, we visited a pearl farm to learn how pearls are made. To be completely honest, this sounded kind of lame to me when I read it on the itinerary, but it was actually really interesting!
After leaving the pearl farm, we were taken back to the cruise ship. After an hour or so of relaxing and taking in the beautiful views of Halong Bay, we had a cooking class where we learned to make fresh spring rolls. After the cooking class we enjoyed happy hour with more beautiful views. After happy hour, a delicious five course dinner was served aboard the boat. After dinner I had the opportunity to try my hand at squid fishing. I got really lucky and managed to catch 10!

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” and taking more trips together and finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and travel hacking over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this YouTube channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling. So we extended our 1 year trip to THREE years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before Nate turns 30 (which is March 20, 2019)! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

Jordan to LEBANON (Bad First Impression)
Travel days are some of our favorite days, and this one was no different. We started by being interviewed on our first live radio show! Then we went to the airport in Amman, Jordan and visited the nicest Priority Pass lounge we've ever been in. After one last delicious Jordanian meal, we boarded a 1.5 hour flight to our 88th country of Lebanon. As soon as we left the airport, we had a pretty unpleasant experience getting to our hotel...

Turkish Airlines Business Class Lounge Istanbul
#istanbul #turkishairlines #dougandniki
Turkish Airlines Business Class Lounge Istanbul
The Turkish Airlines Business Class Lounge is possibly one of the best lounges in the Star Alliance network. It is a massive, two-story lounge with a long list of services and amenities. Some have told us that the Turkish Airlines Business Class Lounge is the best business class lounge in the world. As we've been to Singapore Airlines The Private Room (see our Singapore Airline review) we know that isn't true but, It’s definitely a great space. However, it does get crowded at peak times.
The Turkish Airlines Business Class Lounge at Istanbul Ataturk International Airport (IST) is not easy to find! The lounge is accessible by first/business class passengers and Star Alliance Gold members traveling on any Star Alliance partner flight, Miles and Smiles Elite members and those with United Club or Air Canada Maple Leaf Club membership departing on a Star Alliance partner flight. Star Alliance Gold members and Miles and Smile elite members may invite one guest. The lounge is open 24 hours a day.
Let us know what you think of the lounge.

My Supersonic Concorde Flight - Concorde 50th
March 2nd, 2019 is Concorde’s 50th anniversary since her first flight. Concorde was absolutely the gold standard of aviation
I flew on the supersonic Concorde in 2003 from New York to London in just over 3 hours at twice the speed of sound. This video shares with you my ultimate flight of my life; on-board the supersonic Concorde.
Watch with a detail explanation of the Concorde cockpit unique features plus a ride in the Concorde simulator. Several Concorde Pilots and cabin crew members spoke about their feelings of the Concorde.
At 3:40pm on March 2nd, the Concorde drooped its nose as we celebrate the Concorde 50th anniversary. (same time as the first test flight took off 50 years ago) Don't miss the amazing celebration footage.
Special thanks to Brooklands Museum in Surrey England for the permission to film. They open year round for visitors to enjoy the Concorde experience:
Concorde Drone Footage by John Carter/J2 Production Services
Concorde cameraman Charles Kennedy/Astral Horizon Press
--
In this video, we pay homage to and celebrate the extraordinary service life of the supersonic Concorde jet whose inaugural flight occurred 50 years ago on 2nd March 1969. Re-live the extraordinary and exciting 50th anniversary celebrations held at the Brooklands Museum in Surrey, England, which houses the only Concorde simulator in the world, and see for yourself why this aeroplane will always be on another level compared to all others.
The Concorde jet was a miracle of engineering in many ways – a flight from London to New York could be completed in three and a half hours, allowing wealthy businessmen to, astonishingly, fly to New York for a meeting and return home the same day. The aeroplane’s top speed of just over twice the speed of sound – Mach 2.04 or 1,354 miles per hour – meant that time travel was no longer confined to the realms of science fiction; flights could take off in darkness in London in the evening and arrive in day-light in the early afternoon in New York the same day.
Even today the aeroplane looks extremely futuristic which is a testament to how far ahead of the curve Concorde was at the time. In this video, we take a look at the internal features of this aeroplane which made it unique, including its fighter jet like cockpit with analogue controls, smaller than average windows to protect against decompression and cooling and heat protection system to deliver the plane from the effects of friction with the air, magnified many times due to the plane’s supersonic speeds. We also see the famous drooping nose and accompanying visor of the Concorde jet, giving greatly enhanced landing and take-off visibility when down and supreme aerodynamic efficiency when raised.
The Concorde jet was developed jointly by Sud Aviation, now Aerospatiele and Airbus, and the British Aircraft Corporation, now BAE systems. Sadly, the production run of Concorde was much smaller than anticipated due to massive overruns in both time and budget – the original program cost of Concorde was estimated at £70 million but ended up being £1.3 billion. With so few planes, British Airways and Air France could never recoup the cost of the aeroplanes and so this was absorbed by the British and French governments respectively but their high ticket prices – a round-trip from London to New York typically cost $8,000 – still made Concorde highly profitable for the airlines, apparently ensuring that Concorde would race along the skies for the foreseeable future.
Unfortunately, the sonic boom of Concorde, was not welcome in populated areas and so Concorde was restricted to flights over the ocean. The fatal event for Concorde, however, came in July 2000 when Air France Flight 4590 crashed after take-off, en route to New York, before even leaving France, killing everyone on board. Subsequent reductions in ticket sales meant that the decision to retire Concorde was taken in April 2003 and attempts by Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Atlantic to purchase the British Airway’s Concorde fleet were not successful.
Sadly, fate cut short the service life of Concorde but she will always be remembered as the lightning bolt of the skies; able to go higher, faster and louder than any other commercial aeroplane. Her legacy survives in the likes of the Boeing 777, which make use of the electronic fly-by-wire acceleration systems that were first introduced in Concorde.
