Border Crossing At The Peace Arch State Park Between Canada And The USA In HD
The Peace Arch Park and border crossing is a popular entry point into the United States/Canada located on the border between northwest Washington State and British Columbia in Blaine Washington. The Peace Arch Crossing allows people to wander the park on both sides of the border without going through customs and get a feel for the differences in both countries.
It is also an interesting place to see a portion of one of the largest unprotected borders in the world. But unprotected doesn't mean it isn't monitored and patrolled. It is just not militarized. There are plenty of cameras, sensors and border agents on patrol to stop any illegal activity.
The Peace Arch Border crossing where most Canadians come through when visiting Seattle or just coming south for a shopping day trip.

Here is a nice example of international cooperation between the United States and Canada - The Peace Arch located on the International Boundry between Blaine, WA and Surrey, BC. You can wander back and forth over the border as long as you do not leave the park boundries. A great place to spend a nice day!

Blaine Washington And Peace Arch Border Crossing In Northwest Washington
Blaine Washington is located right on the US/Canadian Border in Northwest Washington. Blaine WA is also home to the Peace Arch Park along with White Rock British Columbia.
Some residents of Blaine have proposed the city change it's name to Blaine Harbor but the city voted it down. Some people choose to call it Blaine Harbor anyway.
The Peace Arch Park allows you to visit both countries and walk across the border.
The park is especially beautiful in the spring time when both countries seem to try and out do each other with their flower displays. Admission to the park is FREE.
Blaine Washington has a popular boating harbor with both American and Canadian vessels. Semiahmoo is a gated golf community on the West side of Drayton Harbor. Semiahmoo was once home to the largest Salmon Cannery in the world. The old Cannery is now a Resort Hotel And Spa. Semiahmoo is also popular with television and movie stars filming in Vancouver who prefer to live in the United States.

Peace Arch Historical State Park
A dramatic white arch rises from the green lawns and flowering gardens on the U.S.-Canada border at Blaine. Some may not realize that the international Peace Arch they pass on Interstate 5 is the principle feature in an iconic Washington state historical park devoted to peace and serenity.
Peace Arch is unique among parks because it consists of two parks in two countries. The southern half of the park and the monument itself is owned by Washington State Parks and the northern half, by British Columbia Provincial Parks. The 67-foot concrete arch, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was constructed to honor the centennial of the treaties resulting from the War of 1812. These agreements between the U.S. and Britain established a peaceful, undefended border between the U.S. and Canada.
Take a stroll through the lush gardens. Stand on the lawn and take in the view of Point Roberts and Vancouver Island. Enjoy seasonal bursts of color from rhododendrons, azaleas, dahlias, hybrid tea roses and annual blooms. The sound of children’s laughter may drift from the playground to the gazebo, adding to the calm, happy feel of this manicured landscape.
Whether you’re headed north or south on Interstate 5, this park is a worthy stop and a moving reminder that peace is possible.

Blaine Washington And Peace Arch Border Crossing Park At US / Canadian Border - Washington State
Blaine Washington is known as America's Peace Arch City best known for its two border crossing. Blaine's marina and waterfront offer spectacular views of the bay and White Rock British Columbia. No visit to Blaine Wa is complete without a stop at the Peace Arch Park where you can stroll the sculpture gardens and experience the thrill of stepping through the great Peace Arch Gate. You can step across from the U.S. and Canada to explore the gardens on the other side of the gate, which ever direction you are coming from, but to cross the rest of the way into the other country requires a current passport or other accepted Identification and proof of citizenship.

United States & Canada - Border Crossing - Peace Arch HD (2014)
The Peace Arch is a monument situated on the Canada -- United States border between the communities of Blaine, Washington and Surrey, British Columbia. The Peace Arch, which stands 20.5 metres (67 ft) tall, was built by Sam Hill and dedicated in September 1921, and commemorates the signing of the Treaty of Ghent in 1814. The monument is built on the exact United States -- Canada boundary, between Interstate 5 and Highway 99, in the grass median between the northbound and southbound lanes. The Peace Arch has the flags of the U.S. and Canada mounted on its crown, and two inscriptions on both sides of its frieze. The inscription on the U.S. side of the Peace Arch reads Children of a common mother, and the words on the Canadian side read Brethren dwelling together in unity. Within the arch, each side has an iron gate hinged on either side of the border with an inscription above reading May these gates never be closed.
Peace Arch Park consists of Peace Arch Provincial Park on the Canadian side and Peace Arch State Park on the American side of the border. Within the park is a major border crossing (between Interstate 5 on the U.S. side and British Columbia Highway 99 on the Canadian side) which has never closed, symbolizing a long history of peace between the two nations. In Canada, the crossing is officially named Douglas in honour of Sir James Douglas, the first governor of the Colony of British Columbia. Because of the Peace Arch monument, however, the border crossing between Surrey and Blaine is popularly known as the Peace Arch Border Crossing, one of the busiest border crossings between Canada and the United States. It is the busiest such crossing west of Detroit.
The monument and surrounding park is considered an international park. As such, visitors do not require either a passport or visa to pass through their applicable border crossing so long as they stay within the boundaries of the park.

President Trump has made tough immigration laws a cornerstone of his presidency. Is that tough talk having an impact on the border at Blaine?
USA - Canada Peace Arch Border Crossing
The Peace Arch Border Crossing connects the towns of Blaine, Washington and Surrey, British Columbia on the Canada–United States border. The crossing is reached by Interstate 5 on the American side and by British Columbia Highway 99 on the Canadian side. It thus serves the most direct route between the major cities of Seattle, Washington and Vancouver, British Columbia. Border inspection services at this crossing long predated the 1921 construction of the Peace Arch. The Canada border station is known as Douglas, although it has been known over the years as White Rock and Surrey. The US border station is known as Blaine - Peace Arch.
Between the two border stations sits the Peace Arch Park, where visitors are free to cross the border within the confines of the park. Trucks and other commercial vehicles have been prohibited from using this crossing since the 1970s, in an effort to improve the visitation experience of the park. All truck traffic must now use the Pacific Highway Border Crossing.
Prior to the construction of the Peace Arch, the border region was congested with homes and businesses. The US and Canada built inspection facilities near the border in the early 1900s. The area between the ports of entry was declared a bi-national park in 1939, and the buildings were demolished. The US built a substantial brick border station in 1936, and replaced it in the early 1980s, and again in 2009. Canada built a large wooden border station in 1929, and replaced it with a concrete border station in 1952. It was expanded and modified substantially over the years until a new border station was built in 2010.
