it's in the end of this video tour. Those dark spots in the water are corals, or as I call them, rocks. Fish likes to garze the algae from the rock surface, and that's what attracts them there
“There are always new discoveries to be made,” he says. “Beginners can have a great time just by hanging around Waikiki, and repeaters can head out to other islands. There are many ways to enjoy.”
Another characteristic of Hawaiian tourism is the number of visitors whose primary purpose is to go shopping. There are numerous luxury brand stores, and an abundance of boutiques selling exclusive resort clothing, swimwear and accessories, that are only found in the islands. To Japanese, Hawaii is a brand in itself.
For the wealthy, Hawaii’s brand power even extends as far as real estate.
The Kaka’Ako district is situated just over two kilometers northwest of Waikiki. Near the Ala Moana Center, a shopping mall overlooking a beach that features a vast array of brand stores, large-scale redevelopment is progressing and plans to build new condominiums are being announced one after another.
“Oahu has a limited amount of usable land, and the market’s gone into overdrive here,” says Sachi Braden, a 25-year veteran of the local real estate industry. “A lot of Japanese eye properties here as investment opportunities to buy a second home.”

Driving around the island of Honolulu and visiting the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor where 1,102 of the 1,177 sailors and Marines remain in their underwater grave.
Unfortunately, I didn't have a video camera with me - so I had a day to put together a slideshow. However, IMovie tends to blur photos, but I find hitting the pause button will help to focus and clear up the image.

Arizona Memorial
Your first stop on the tour is the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center and the USS Arizona Memorial. Administered by the National Park Service and located on the Pearl Harbor Navy Base. Your guides will give you all the ins and outs you need to fully enjoy the visitor center including what to bring (and not to bring) and tips such as where to sit for optimum viewing of the memorial.
You will visit the historical museum and view a 23-minute documentary film on the attack of Pearl Harbor. Via the Navy shuttle boat, you will board the Arizona Memorial, which is the final resting place for the majority of the ship's 1,177 crewmen who lost their lives during the Pearl Harbor attack. The USS Arizona Memorial was constructed to honor American servicemen and civilians who were killed on December 7, 1941. Other military sites were also attacked, killing 2,390 Americans; over 320 aircraft were destroyed or damaged and 21 vessels were sunk or damaged.
Because the USS Arizona accounted for almost half of the casualties, it has become the central symbol of commemoration. Pearl Harbor - December 7th 1941, a date which will live in infamy, is one of the most well remembered and significant events in the history of our nation and acted as a catalyst in bringing the U.S. fully and actively into WWII with the rallying cry Remember Pearl Harbor.

Memorial Day Weekend Tour of the USS Arizona Memorial & USS Missouri in Pearl Harbor Hawaii.
Just s look at what you will see if you come to the USS Arizona memorial at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. You used to be able to walk aboard the memorial that lies over the sunken USS Arizona, but for the last year you just get a cruise past the Memorial and USS Missouri.
Visitor Access to USS Arizona Memorial Temporarily Suspended
Alert 1 , Severity ,closure ,,Visitor Access to USS Arizona Memorial Temporarily Suspended
Due to a critical structural and safety issue impacting the USS Arizona Memorial dock and loading ramp, the memorial is closed to visitation while repairs are made.
What is the USS Arizona Memorial?
The Battleship USS Arizona was bombed on December 7, 1941, about 15 minutes into the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, killing 1,177 sailors and Marines. Over 900 could not be recovered from the ship and remain onboard. Today, Arizona rests where she fell, submerged in about 40 feet of water just off the coast of Ford Island.
Designed by Honolulu architect Alfred Preis, the USS Arizona Memorial was built in 1962 on top of (but not touching) the sunken USS Arizona. The memorial honors the memory of the crew of the USS Arizona, as well as all the other service members and civilians killed in the attack. A total of 2,341 sailors, soldiers, and Marines died as a result of the attack, as well as 49 civilians.

Pearl Harbor Welcome Center Video Tour (WWII Valor in the Pacific National Monument)
Beginning at Pearl Harbor with the day of infamy that saw the sinking of the USS ARIZONA and ending on the deck of the USS MISSOURI in Tokyo Bay, many of the key battles of World War II were waged on and near American shores and throughout the Pacific. In commemoration of this pivotal period in our Nation's history, the World War II Valor in the Pacific National Monument adds nine historic sites to our national heritage of monuments and memorials representing various aspects of the war in the Pacific.
The monument was created on December 5, 2008, through an executive order issued by President George W. Bush under the authority of the Antiquities Act of 1906. The proclamation date was selected in anticipation of the 67th anniversary of the Attack on Pearl Harbor, on December 7, 2008.
The Visitor Center operated by the National Park Service is free to the public and has a museum with exhibits about the Pearl Harbor attack, such as the ship's bell from the Arizona. The Pacific Historic Parks Bookstore revenue helps support the museum.
Access to the USS Arizona Memorial is by U.S. Navy boat, for which a numbered ticket, obtained at the Visitor Center and valid for a designated departure time, is required. The memorial is visited by more than one million people annually. Because of the large number of visitors and the limited number of boat departures, the 4,500 tickets available each day are often fully allocated by mid-morning. Before boarding the boat for the short trip to the Memorial, a 23-minute documentary film depicting the attack on Pearl Harbor is presented. Touring of the Memorial is self-guided. The National Park Service Web site provides visitor information, including hours of operation and ticketing advisories.
A one-hour audio tour of the Memorial and Center exhibits, narrated by actress Jamie Lee Curtis, whose father is a World War II and Navy veteran, is available for rent at the Visitor Center. On the Center's grounds along the shoreline are more exhibits and a Remembrance Circle. Nearby is USS Bowfin, a World War II Diesel submarine, which may be toured with separate, paid admission. The battleship USS Missouri and the Pacific Aviation Museum Pearl Harbor may also be visited, but require a bus ride to Ford Island.
Every President of the United States since Franklin D. Roosevelt, and both Emperors Hirohito and Akihito, have visited the site.

Top 5 in Honolulu, Hawaii
Honolulu is the perfect place to start your exploration of this dream Pacific destination. Hundreds of miles of pristine, white sandy beaches, epic surfing, world-class shopping – Honolulu has it all. Hawaii's capital is located on the island of O'ahu. If you are traveling to Oahu, Hawaii and are looking for the best places in Honolulu, here are some recommendations:
Iolani Palace – The only official state residence of royalty in the U.S., Iolani Palace’s grounds and galleries are now open to the public as a museum.
Hilton Hawaiian Village – The Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort is located on 22 acres of the best beach-fronts on Waikiki. At this resort, you will relax among tropical gardens, waterfalls and ponds. And, you need to check out the penguins!
Valley of the Temples Memorial Park – Built in the 1960s, the Byodo-In Temple is a replica of the 960-year-old Byodo-In Temple in Uji, Japan.
Nuuanu Pali State Park – Pali means cliffs, and the lookout at Nuuanu Pali State Park overlooks 985-foot cliffs of the Koolau Mountain Range. It’s extremely windy so wear a light jacket and be careful! You can often lean into the wind and let the gusts hold you up. According to the website, Nuuanu Pali State Park is open daily (weather permitting) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free admission.
Pacific Aviation Museum – You can spend all day learning about what conditions were like for sailors on board the ships at Pearl Harbor.
Surfing in Hawaii – In the winter, go to the north shore for the big waves; in the summer, head to the south.
Speaking of beaches, with 112 miles of coast, O’ahu Island has some of the best beaches in Hawaii:
On the North shore, go to Kawela Bay/ Turtle Bay for a great place to snorkel and the best place to see a Hawaiian green sea turtle.
Waimea Bay is famous for its gigantic winter waves. In the summer, the waves calm down and many tourists go to Waimea Bay to swim and snorkel.
On the South shore, visit Waikiki Beach-, an internationally famous beach, which has over 4 million visitors every year. Waikiki Beach is the best place in Hawaii to learn how to surf or canoe. Or you could book a sailboat and cruise the ocean.
The Sandy Beach is a favorite of former President Barack Obama and a popular local beach.
