Starting Point: .
Houston is the most populous city in Texas and the fourth-most populous city in the United States, located in Southeast Texas near the Gulf of Mexico. With a census-estimated 2014 population of 2.239 million[5] within a land area of 599.6 square miles (1,553 km2),[6] it also is the largest city in the Southern United States,[7] as well as the seat of Harris County. It is the principal city of Houston–The Woodlands–Sugar Land, which is the fifth-most populated metropolitan area in the United States.
Houston was founded on August 28, 1836 near the banks of Buffalo Bayou (now known as Allen's Landing)[8][9] and incorporated as a city on June 5, 1837. The city was named after former General Sam Houston, who was president of the Republic of Texas and had commanded and won at the Battle of San Jacinto 25 miles (40 km) east of where the city was established. The burgeoning port and railroad industry, combined with oil discovery in 1901, has induced continual surges in the city's population. In the mid-20th century, Houston became the home of the Texas Medical Center—the world's largest concentration of healthcare and research institutions—and NASA's Johnson Space Center, where the Mission Control Center is located.[10]
Houston's economy has a broad industrial base in energy, manufacturing, aeronautics, and transportation. It is also leading in health care sectors and building oilfield equipment; only New York City is home to more Fortune 500 headquarters within its city limits.[11][12] The Port of Houston ranks first in the United States in international waterborne tonnage handled and second in total cargo tonnage handled.[13] Nicknamed the Space City, Houston is a global city, with strengths in business, international trade, entertainment, culture, media, fashion, science, sports, technology, education, medicine, and research. The city has a population from various ethnic and religious backgrounds and a large and growing international community. Houston is the most diverse city in Texas and has been described as the most diverse in the United States.[14] It is home to many cultural institutions and exhibits, which attract more than 7 million visitors a year to the Museum District. Houston has an active visual and performing arts scene in the Theater District and offers year-round resident companies in all major performing arts.

13 Seconds at Kent State: When America Turned Upon Itself and Our Nation's Innocence Was Lost
Kent State University (KSU) is a large, primarily residential, public research university in Kent, Ohio, United States.[5] The university also includes seven regional campuses in Northeast Ohio and additional facilities in the region and internationally. Regional campuses are located in Ashtabula, Burton, East Liverpool, Jackson Township, New Philadelphia, Salem, and Warren, Ohio, with additional facilities in Cleveland, Independence, and Twinsburg, Ohio, New York City, and Florence, Italy.
The university was established in 1910 as a teacher-training school. The first classes were held in 1912 at various locations and in temporary buildings in Kent and the first buildings of the original campus opened the following year. Since then, the university has grown to include many additional baccalaureate and graduate programs of study in the arts and sciences, research opportunities, as well as over 1,000 acres (405 ha) and 119 buildings on the Kent campus. During the late 1960s and early 1970s, the university was known internationally for its student activism in opposition to U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War, due mainly to the Kent State shootings in 1970.
As of September 2016, Kent State is one of the largest universities in Ohio with an enrollment of 40,782 students in the eight-campus system and 30,167 students at the main campus in Kent.[6] It is ranked by the Carnegie Foundation as one of the top 77 public research universities in the US and one of the top 76 in community engagement.[7] In 2010, Kent State was ranked as one of the top 200 universities in the world by Times Higher Education.[8] U.S. News & World Report's 2017 rankings put Kent State as tied for #188 for National Universities and tied for #101 in Top Public Schools.[9] Kent State offers over 300 degree programs, among them 250 baccalaureate, 40 associate's, 50 master's, and 23 doctoral programs of study,[10] which include such notable programs as nursing, business, history, library science, aeronautics, journalism, fashion design and the Liquid Crystal Institute. Kent State had a Fall 2015 acceptance rate of 85%.
Harvey Andrews' 1970 song Hey Sandy[102][104] was addressed to Sandra Scheuer.lyrics
Steve Miller's Jackson-Kent Blues, from the Steve Miller Band album Number 5 (released in November 1970), is another direct response.[102]
The Beach Boys released Student Demonstration Time[105] in 1971 on Surf's Up. Mike Love wrote new lyrics for Leiber & Stoller's Riot in Cell Block Number Nine,[102] referencing the Kent State shootings along with other incidents such as Bloody Thursday and the Jackson State killings.
Bruce Springsteen wrote a song called Where Was Jesus in Ohio in May or June 1970 in response to the Kent State shootings.[106]
In 1970–1971 Halim El-Dabh, a Kent State University music professor who was on campus when the shootings occurred, composed Opera Flies, a full-length opera, in response to his experience. The work was first performed on the Kent State campus on May 8, 1971, and was revived for the 25th commemoration of the events in 1995.[107]
Actress and singer Ruth Warrick released in 1971 a single with the song 41,000 Plus 4—The Ballad of the Kent State, an homage to the four students killed at Kent State.[108]
In 1971, the composer and pianist Bill Dobbins (who was a Kent State University graduate student at the time of the shootings), composed The Balcony, an avant-garde work for jazz band inspired by the same event, according to the album's liner notes.[109]
Dave Brubeck's 1971 cantata Truth Is Fallen was written in response to the slain students at Kent State University and Jackson State University; the work was premiered in Midland, Michigan on May 1, 1971, and released on LP in 1972.[102][110]
Holly Near's It Could Have Been Me was released on A Live Album (1974). The song is Near's personal response to the incident.[111]
A commemorative 2-CD compilation featuring music and interviews was released by the May 4 Task Force in May 2005, in commemoration of the 35th anniversary of the shootings.

Driving Downtown Streets - Market Street - Philadelphia Pennsylvania USA - Episode 7.
Starting Point: Market Street & 40th Street .
Market Street, originally known as High Street, is a major east–west street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. For part of its length, it serves as Pennsylvania Route 3.
The High Street was the familiar name of the principal street in nearly every English town at the time Philadelphia was founded. But if Philadelphia was indebted to England for the name of High Street, nearly every American town is, in turn, indebted to Philadelphia for its Market Street. Long before the city was laid out or settled, Philadelphia's founder, William Penn, had planned that markets would be held regularly on the 100-foot (30 m) wide High Street. The city's first market stalls were situated in the center of the thoroughfare starting at Front Street and proceeding west eventually to 8th Street. The stalls soon became covered and were not taken down as planned. Later, additional covered sheds appeared west of Center Square as the city expanded westward. The street began to be called Market Street around 1800. The road's new name was made official by an ordinance of 1858, ironically, just a year before the market sheds were ordered removed.
Market Street has been called the most historic highway in the United States because of the various historic sites along its eastern section. Many of Benjamin Franklin's activities were centered along Market Street. His house was located near the intersection of Fourth Street, and he may have performed his famous kite-flying experiment near Third and Market Streets.[1] Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence in a boarding house (the Graff or Declaration House) once located at the Seventh Street intersection. The mansion of Robert Morris, financier of the American Revolution, was located near Sixth and Market Streets. This house, known as the President's House, was used by George Washington and John Adams as their residence during their terms as President. (The house was more or less on the site of the northern part of the modern-day Liberty Bell Center.) Around 1795 Theophilus Cazenove lived at Market Street.[2] Several important finance and publishing firsts also occurred along Market Street between Second and Fourth Streets during the 18th century. Market Street is still one of the principal locations of business and commerce in Philadelphia.
Philadelphia
Philadelphia (/ˌfɪləˈdɛlfiə/) is the largest city in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the fifth-most populous in the United States, with an estimated population in 2014 of 1,560,297.[6][7][8][9][10] In the Northeastern United States, at the confluence of the Delaware and Schuylkill rivers, Philadelphia is the economic and cultural anchor of the Delaware Valley, a metropolitan area home to 7.2 million people and the eighth-largest combined statistical area in the United States.
The area's many universities and colleges make Philadelphia a top international study destination, as the city has evolved into an educational and economic hub.[14][15] With a gross domestic product of $388 billion, Philadelphia ranks ninth among world cities and fourth in the nation.[16] Philadelphia is the center of economic activity in Pennsylvania and is home to seven Fortune 1000 companies. The Philadelphia skyline is growing, with several nationally prominent skyscrapers.[17] The city is known for its arts, culture, and history, attracting over 39 million domestic tourists in 2013.[18] Philadelphia has more outdoor sculptures and murals than any other American city,[19] and Fairmount Park is the largest landscaped urban park in the world.[20] The 67 National Historic Landmarks in the city helped account for the $10 billion generated by tourism.[18] Philadelphia is the birthplace of the United States Marine Corps,[21][22] and is also the home of many U.S. firsts, including the first library (1731),[23] first hospital (1751)[23] and medical school (1765),[24] first Capitol (1777),[23] first stock exchange (1790),[23] first zoo (1874),[25] and first business school (1881).[26] Philadelphia is the only World Heritage City in the United States.[27]

Following decades of enmity, on December 15, 1978, the United States and China announced the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries as of January 1, 1979. Diplomatic rapprochement offered hope that the countries would be able to look beyond their differences to cooperate on the global stage.
On December 18, the National Committee convened a panel representing the diverse fields of business, diplomacy, arts and culture, and academic exchange to reflect on where the bilateral relationship was 40 years ago, is today, and may be headed in the future.

Driving Downtown 4K - New Orleans' French Quarter - USA
40+ Popular Streets In Major Cities - Driving Downtown Streets - Full Playlist Here! -
Driving Downtown Streets - Royal Street - New Orleans Louisiana USA - Episode 45.
Starting Point: Royal Street - .
Royal Street is a street in New Orleans, Louisiana. It is one of the oldest streets in the city, dating from the French colonial era, and is known today for its antique shops, art galleries, and stately hotels. Royal Street is the best known street in the French Quarter besides Bourbon Street.
The portion of Rue Royale in the upper French Quarter (toward Canal Street) is known for its dozens of opulent antique shops and art galleries. The prices at its art shops and antique stores tend to be very high; indeed, it has been listed as one of the world's most expensive places to shop. The finer antique shops display not simply items that are old, but such rare items as pieces of fine furniture owned by royalty of past centuries. Although such pieces are beyond the budget of all but a few, window shopping along Royal Street is a popular pastime, especially for art lovers. The 700 block of Royal features the galleries of New Orleans-based artists Ally Burguieres and George Rodrigue.
The portion of Royal Street between St. Louis and St. Ann streets is closed to traffic every afternoon to create a pedestrian zone. During this time, numerous street performers set up there. Although the music performance quality ranges widely, some of the best up-and-coming jazz bands in New Orleans can be heard.
Despite catastrophic damage in most of New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Royal Street was spared the great flood, other than the section in the Lower 9th Ward. The French Quarter, originally the city itself, was built upon naturally-higher ground next to a curve in the Mississippi River.
New Orleans is a major United States port and the largest city and metropolitan area in the state of Louisiana.
The city is named after the Duke of Orleans, who reigned as Regent for Louis XV from 1715 to 1723, as it was established by French colonists and strongly influenced by their European culture. It is well known for its distinct French and Spanish Creole architecture, as well as its cross-cultural and multilingual heritage.[8] New Orleans is also famous for its cuisine, music (particularly as the birthplace of jazz),[9][10] and its annual celebrations and festivals, most notably Mardi Gras, dating to French colonial times. The city is often referred to as the most unique[11] in the United States.
New Orleans is located in southeastern Louisiana, straddling the Mississippi River. The city and Orleans Parish (French: paroisse d'Orléans) are coterminous.[17] The city and parish are bounded by the parishes of St. Tammany to the north, St. Bernard to the east, Plaquemines to the south, and Jefferson to the south and west.[17][18][19] Lake Pontchartrain, part of which is included in the city limits, lies to the north and Lake Borgne lies to the east.[19]
Before Hurricane Katrina, Orleans Parish was the most populous parish in Louisiana. It now[when?] ranks third in population, trailing neighboring Jefferson Parish, and East Baton Rouge Parish.
Tourism
New Orleans has many visitor attractions, from the world-renowned French Quarter; to St. Charles Avenue, (home of Tulane and Loyola Universities, the historic Pontchartrain Hotel, and many 19th-century mansions); to Magazine Street, with its boutique stores and antique shops.
The French Quarter (known locally as the Quarter or Vieux Carré), which was the colonial-era city and is bounded by the Mississippi River, Rampart Street, Canal Street, and Esplanade Avenue, contains many popular hotels, bars, and nightclubs. Notable tourist attractions in the Quarter include Bourbon Street, Jackson Square, St. Louis Cathedral, the French Market (including Café du Monde, famous for café au lait and beignets), and Preservation Hall. Also in the French Quarter is the old New Orleans Mint, a former branch of the United States Mint which now operates as a museum, and The Historic New Orleans Collection, a museum and research center housing art and artifacts relating to the history of New Orleans and the Gulf South.

US election: Clinton holds rallies in Florida and Philadelphia
Hillary Clinton has been clocking up the miles on her campaign trail by spending most of her Saturday in the important swing state of Florida. But this was sandwiched between concerts with artists Jay-Z and Beyonce in Cleveland, Ohio, on Friday evening, and Katy Perry in Philadelphia on Saturday evening, all to appeal to young voters. Although polls are tightening between Clinton and Trump, political analysts say the democrat still has a slight edge in the electoral college map.

From Wikipedia
Bellevue is a city in the Eastside region of King County, Washington, United States, across Lake Washington from Seattle. As the third-largest city in the Seattle metropolitan area, Bellevue has variously been characterized as an edge city, a suburb, boomburb, or satellite city. Its population was 122,363 at the 2010 census and 147,599 in a 2018 census estimate.
As of 2019, the city promotes itself as a diverse, global city at the heart of Seattle's Eastside, and home to some of the world's most innovative technology companies. Prior to 2008, downtown Bellevue underwent rapid change, with many high-rise projects under construction, and was relatively unaffected by the economic downturn. The downtown area is currently the second-largest city center in Washington state, with 1,300 businesses, 45,000 employees, and 10,200 residents. Based on per capita income, Bellevue is the sixth-wealthiest of 522 communities in the state of Washington. In 2008, Bellevue was number one in CNNMoney's list of the best places to live and launch a business, and in 2010 was again ranked as the fourth-best place to live in America. In 2014, Bellevue was ranked as the second-best place to live by USA Today. More than 145 companies have been located in Bellevue. Current companies with headquarters in Bellevue include PACCAR Inc, T-Mobile, and Valve.
The name Bellevue is derived from the French words for beautiful view.
Recurring cultural events
Bellevue is the site of the popular annual Bellevue Arts and Crafts Fair (originally Pacific Northwest Arts and Crafts Fair), held since 1947 the last weekend in July. The biennial Bellevue Sculpture Exhibition draws thousands of visitors to the Downtown Park to view up to 46 three-dimensional artworks from artists around the country. In celebration of its strawberry farming history, Bellevue holds an annual Strawberry Festival on the fourth weekend in June at Crossroads Park. The festival initially began in 1925, and continued to 1942 when many Bellevue's strawberry farmers were incarcerated as part of the Japanese Internment. In 1987 the festival was resumed as a one evening event, and in 2003 it was expanded back to a multi-day festival.
Places of Interest
The Bellevue Arts Museum first opened in 1975, then moved to Bellevue Square in 1983. In 2001, the museum moved into its own building, designed by Steven Holl. The museum subsequently ran into financial difficulties and was forced to close to the public in 2003. After a lengthy fundraising campaign, a remodel, and a new mission to become a national center for the fine art of craft and design, the museum reopened on June 18, 2005 with an exhibition of teapots. The Rosalie Whyel Museum of Doll Art - now closed - contained one of the largest doll collections in the world—more than a thousand dolls—displayed on two floors of a Victorian-style building, which is now the site of the KidsQuest Children's Museum. Near Interstate 405 is Meydenbauer Center, a convention center that brings corporate meetings and charity events to the downtown area. Meydenbauer also includes a 410-seat theater which attracts operas, ballets, and orchestral performances.
The city government has planned to build a performing arts center, tentatively named the Tateuchi Center (named for philanthropist Ina Tateuchi), since the 1980s. It would include a 2,000-seat concert hall, offices, and creative spaces at a site in Downtown Bellevue. The $200 million project is partially funded with private donations and grants from the city and county governments.
Sports and Reaction
Since the 1970s, the city has taken an active role in ensuring that its commercial development does not overwhelm its natural land and water resources. Today, the Bellevue Parks and Community Services Department manages more than 2,500 acres (10 km2) of parks and open spaces, including the Downtown Park and the Bellevue Botanical Garden, as well as several playgrounds, beach parks, and trails. More than 5,500 Bellevue residents participate in volunteer activities through this department annually.
Bellevue was home to the American Basketball Association team, the Bellevue Blackhawks. The Blackhawks in 2005, despite being ranked 13th in the league, made it to the championship game in front of 15,000 fans in Little Rock, Arkansas. The team has been inactive since 2006.
