COSTUMES:
We encourage full costumes however you are free to attend in regular dress. Want to create your own? Plenty of 2nd hand stores in and around Portland. Portlanders love to make their own. The Hawthorne / Belmont areas and two big costume stores: Lippman Co (downtown) and Halloween Warehouse (Beaverton) open year round.
CONFERENCE:
We host many conferences, (Santa, Leprechaun, Superhero, Zombie, etc). A conference is a meeting of people who confer about a topic. Our free and fun conferences are all held in costumes and at bars!!
WHAT DO YOU BRING:
The parties are made by the masses bringing their own creativity. We provide a simple framework, but you RAISE the party, and make it great by bringing your creativity that we could not have dreamed of, or imagined.
PUB CRAWL EDIQUETE:
Our crawls start at noon and/or mid afternoon, but all crawls go to last call. Remember, you can come at anytime or leave at anytime: you set your fun around us.
DRINKING:
We stop at bars, pubs, and lounges, those who wish to drink may, however, please be responsible. Always hydrate, eat, and never drink and drive. Please use public transportation.
OUR PHOTO ALBUMS:
Be respectful. We may delete certain comments or remove photos, and yes we're all adults, but like Vegas, what happens on our crawl stays at our crawl.
We do not allow or post photos that are risqué or deemed not work place acceptable. Please ask someone before you take their photo -- thank you.
THINGS TO REMEMBER:
Plan ahead if you drink.
Pace yourself.
Eat, drink water and never drive buzzed.
Taxi or light rail.
Obey all crosswalks and laws.
Take lots of photos or videos -- post or tag us on our event wall.
Be polite to others and patrons not on our crawl.
Obey the police and/or security.
Bring cash -- cards go slower.
Tip
CHARITY:
Each costume pub crawl supports a local charity. By attending you now support a charity. Question we get -- how can you help? First, by inviting all your fun friends to the event, as you have a direct impact now to increase the amount given to the charity: a win-win for local bars and charity.
The final donation is posted after the event, as the unseen volunteers work hard and give their time freely to ensure you all have FUN.
DISCLAIMER:
Q: Is this some kind of political statement?
A: No. It is fun and for charity.
CONVENTION, CONFERENCE, OR CON USEAGE
Con a word abbreviation for conference or convention. A conference is a meeting of people who confer about a topic, as we do, some dressed in costumes.
(reference of year: on October 22, 1936, a group of six or seven fans from New York City, including David Kyle and Frederik Pohl, traveled by train to Philadelphia, PA, where they visited for several hours with a similar number of local fans at the house of Milton A. Rothman, declaring that event the first science fiction convention.
Or like in 1939, American fans had organized sufficiently to hold, in conjunction with the 1939 World's Fair, the first World Science Fiction Convention, in New York City.
Or like the San Diego Comic-Con International, as it was founded as the Golden State Comic Book Convention in 1970 by a group of San Diegans, which included Shel Dorf, Richard Alf, Ken Krueger and Mike Towry; later, it was called the San Diego Comic Book Convention. The name, as given on its website, from 1974, is Comic-Con International: San Diego; but it is commonly known as Comic-Con or the San Diego Comic-Con or SDCC.)
PUB CRAWL
Reference: a pub crawl (sometimes called a bar tour, bar crawl or bar-hopping) is the act of one or more people drinking in multiple pubs or bars in a single night, normally walking or busing to each one between drinking ('Pub Crawl' as both a noun and a verb, with the noun (dating from 1915) being defined as a drinking session that moves from one licensed premises to the next, and so on, and the verb (1937) meaning to move in a group from one drinking establishment to the next, drinking at each.
Portland to Bend, the wild way
What’s a better way to celebrate recovery than a trip through the woods on roads you’ve never seen? That’s actually a bit of a trick question, because I cannot imagine another way to do it. Plus, it gave me an actual goal to work towards.
Let’s ride from Portland-ish to Bend on gravel and Forest Service roads. There, I said it. Who’s in?
Thanks to Ritchey, Schwalbe and The Athletic.

STORYLINE:
Hundreds gathered and a group even burned several U.S. flags in Portland on Friday as activists protested the inauguration of President Donald Trump.
The flag-burning occurred in the city's Pioneer Courthouse Square, called Portland's living room because it's a popular hangout for all types of people.
On Friday afternoon, hundreds of anti-Trump protesters gathered there before the start of a march that was expected to draw thousands.
They included a small group of flag-burners, many of them masked and clad in black. At first they had trouble because of the rain, but using lighter fluid they torched at least half a dozen flags. An ember briefly fell on the jacket of one participant but the fire was quickly put out.
The city was bracing for a larger protest and march later Friday that was expected to draw up to 10,000 people.
Some businesses in Portland's downtown announced they would close early because of the anticipated crowds. Owners of some establishments boarded up windows to prevent damage.
Portland protests after Trump's election last November turned violent when a small group of demonstrators smashed windows, spray-painted buildings and started small fires. The demonstration caused about $1 million in damage, police have said.
Portland police have said they will not allow demonstrators to go on highways or block transportation.

The Oldest Bar in Every State
The best barsare the watering holes where time seems to stand still. They're places where you can go a decade between visits and when you return it feels like you haven't skipped a beat.
Dating back to 1899,The Peerless Saloonis so old that the founder bought whiskey by the barrel and sold it in glass bottles made at his own glass factory. On the National Register of Historic Places since the early 1990s, its most impressive feature is a massive, mint-condition mahogany bar that was made for the 1904 World's Fair and was installed here in 1906.
B&B; Bardates back to 1906, and proudly celebrates its rustic authenticity. Not only does it boast Alaska's oldest liquor license, it's also one heck of a great dive bar.
The vast majority of the Wild West's legendary old bars burned down over the years (all that dry wood and gaslight didn't help), but the bar that's today known asBig Nose Kate'sSaloon is located inside what was used to be known as the Grand Hotel, which was built in 1880. The building did burn down - in 1882 - and the quickly rebuilt building did away with the hotel entirely and just kept the bar.
Arkansas' oldest bardates back to 1905, when it was opened as a bar and casino. Hot Springs had a bit of a reputation back in those days, and over the years Al Capone, Lucky Luciano, and plenty of other mobsters hung out (and visited their bookies) here.
Not much of San Francisco survived the 1906 earthquake, butThe Salooncame through unscathed and hasn't changed much since. Back when it opened in 1861 its second floor was a brothel, but today it's just one of North Beach's best music venues.
The Hotel Jerome was hailed as one of the finest hotels in the West when it opened in Aspen in 1889, and today it's the oldest hotel in town, home to the oldest bar in the state (Golden's Buffalo Rose Tavern opened in 1859, but the building it's in dates from 1902). A four-month top-to-bottom renovation in 2012 revitalized it and restored it to its former glory, and the barstill retains many of its original furnishings (and is a perfect spot for an après-ski cocktail).
Dating back to 1776,this charming innhas dining rooms, a wine bar, 33 guest rooms, and a tap room that's a great place to have a couple pints. The building that's home to the tap room was actually constructed back in 1735, and today hosts one of the best-looking bars in America.
Jessop's Tavernfirst opened its doors in 1724, making it one of America's very oldest bars; the building itself was constructed in 1674. Today it's not only a time capsule of Colonial-era revelry, it also happens to be one of the country's finest Belgian beer bars.
Fernandina Beach was a major hub for rail and sea travel back around the turn of the century, but it was missing one thing: a bar. Amazingly, the bar that was constructed there in 1903is today the oldest one in the state.
Picture a bar in Savannah calledThe Pirates' Housethat dates back to 1753, and we bet you'll be pretty close to what this place is really like. An ancient, weathered building, it's actually right next door to the oldest building in the state, so a walk around the property (and a seat at the bar) is a great way to spend some time in one of America's most beautiful towns.
One of Honolulu's finest barsis also the state's oldest. This is the youngest oldest bar on our list, only dating back to 1935, but it recalls an era when it was located smack dab in the heart of the city's red light district.
This country saloonopened in the rough and tumble days of 1907, and not much has changed since; weathered wood is still the primary motif, and even the hardwood floors haven't changed. And if you get too tuckered out to drive home, there are still rooms upstairs to sleep it off.
The oldest bar in Chicagoisn't located in Chicago proper, but about 35 miles outside of town in tony Long Grove. It's been going strong since 1849 (it's been in continuous operation since then), and it's home to a large dining area and bar room.
The Knickerbocker, which first opened its doors in 1835 as the Cherry Wood Bar, proudly displays the state's very first liquor license. The narrow space still has a pressed tin ceiling and an ornate long bar that dates from 1891, but sadly the player piano (which, when introduced in 1874, was one of the first in the region) is long gone.
Founder Jacob Breitbach was issued his liquor license by President Millard Fillmore in 1852, and today his bar and restaurant,Breitbach's Country Dining, is still going strong six generations later under the auspices of owners Mike and Cindy Breitbach. Tragically, the original building burned down in 2007 and again in 2008, but the community banded together and rebuilt it just as it was before, not once but twice.
Even ifthis ancient buildingdidn't display “HAYS HOUSE 1857” across its roofline, it would still be pretty clear that it's very old just by looking at it. When it first opened its doors (Daniel Boone's great grandson was the first owner), it served as th

Beekman Bank Tour in Jacksonville
By Aaron Nilsson/KTVL.com
JACKSONVILLE, Ore. -- News 10 got a private tour at the Beekman Bank put on by Historic Jacksonville Inc.
It formed in early 2014 after the city took over buildings previously managed by the Southern Oregon Historical Society.
The group realized the buildings are wonderful, but are simply old buildings with names on them without anything going on inside of them.
President of Historic Jacksonville, Inc., Carolyn Kingsnorth, said it's goal is to bring history to life.
History is people. History is stories. Jacksonville is a wonderful way to see that history, to experience it and to share these stories, Kingsnorth said.
The bank is open 11 a.m.to 3 p.m., once a month, as part of Jacksonville History Saturdays.
The Pioneer Cemetery has tours beginning at 10 in the morning.
Also, Victorian-theme tours at Beekman House from noon to four.

SUMMARY
=======
Portland is the largest city in the U.S. state of Oregon and the seat of Multnomah County. It is a major port in the Willamette Valley region of the Pacific Northwest, at the confluence of the Willamette and Columbia rivers. As of 2017, Portland had an estimated population of 647,805, making it the 26th-largest city in the United States, and the second-most populous in the Pacific Northwest (after Seattle). Approximately 2.4 million people live in the Portland metropolitan statistical area (MSA), making it the 25th most populous MSA in the United States. Its Combined Statistical Area (CSA) ranks 18th-largest with a population of around 3.2 million. Approximately 60% of Oregon's population resides within the Portland metropolitan area.Named after Portland, Maine, the Oregon settlement began to be populated in the 1830s near the end of the Oregon Trail. Its water access provided convenient transportation of goods, and the timber industry was a major force in the city's early economy. At the turn of the 20th century, the city had a reputation as one of the most dangerous port cities in the world, a hub for organized crime and racketeering. After the city's economy experienced an industrial boom during World War II, its hard-edged reputation began to dissipate. Beginning in the 1960s, Portland became noted for its growing progressive political values, earning it a reputation as a bastion of counterculture. The city operates with a commission-based government guided by a mayor and four commissioners as well as Metro, the only directly elected metropolitan planning organization in the United States. The city government is notable for its land-use planning and investment in public transportation. Portland is frequently recognized as one of the world's most environmentally conscious cities because of its high walkability, large community of bicyclists, farm-to-table dining, expansive network of public transportation options, and over 10,000 acres (4,000 hectares) of public parks. Its climate is marked by warm, dry summers and cool, rainy winters. This climate is ideal for growing roses, and Portland has been called the City of Roses for over a century.
