Disney Cruise San Diego To Mexico Day 1! | Embarkation Day, Room Tour & Parties!!
Today's vlog marks the end of our Adventures by Disney trip and begins our Disney Cruise from San Diego California to Ensenada Mexico! Another huge thank you to Disney for inviting us on this amazing media trip! We start the morning with a quick bus ride to San Diego where we board the Disney Wonder. We have a quick look around the ship and then give you a tour of our standard ocean view room with a verandah. We watched the Sail-A-Wave party with all the best characters and then headed to dinner at Animator's Palate. After dinner we watched the Disney Dreams live show, we're so happy we were able to make time to check out some of things we missed on the last cruise! Then we headed up to the top deck for the Pirates in the Caribbean party with fireworks! We had a jam packed first day on the ship but it was a lot of fun! Thank you again to Disney for inviting us to join in on this media trip! Thank you for watching and we'll see you tomorrow with a new vid!

(Originally made for Media Communications Course, CAT125, at UC San Diego by me. As such this video is a personal project, and was not sponsored or authorized in any way by the San Diego Maritime Museum) The San Diego Maritime Museum is one of the finest collections of historic vessels in the world. Located in sunny San Diego California right on San Diego Bay. Walk the decks of the worlds oldest active sailing ship, the 151 year old Star of India. Take a selfie with an actual movie star, the H.M.S. Surprise, featured in both Master and Commander: Far Side of the World with Russell Crowe and Pirates of the Caribbean IV: Far Side of the World with Johnny Depp. Tour a Soviet Era Fox-Trot Russian submarine as well as the worlds deepest diving submarine, the U.S.S. Dolphin. Enjoy the beautiful stain glass windows aboard the Berkeley, a 116 year old ferry boat. Take a tour of the bay on either the Pilot boat, the worlds oldest active pilot boat at 100 years old. Or the Vietnam era swift boat. Or spend 4 hours sailing outside of the bay on the official tallship of the state of California, the Californian, a 30 year old topsail schooner. Whatever you choose to do at the museum, its sure to be a memorable experience.

Californian was built from the ground up in 1984 at Spanish Landing in San Diego Bay. She was launched with great fanfare for the 1984 Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles. In July 2003, the Governor signed a bill into law designating the Californian as the official tall ship of the State of California. She is the only ship to carry this prestigious title.
channelThe Californian is a replica of the 1847 Revenue Cutter C.W. Lawrence, which patrolled the coast of California enforcing federal law during the gold rush. The Revenue Cutter Service, along with four other federal maritime agencies, was consolidated into the United States Coast Guard in 1915.

Disney Wonder | Halloween on The High Seas | Day 5 Sea Day
#disneywonder #disneycruise #balboapark
This vlog is a collection of our last full sea day on the Disney Wonder as it sailed back into San Diego. I also showed our disembarkation day and we stayed two more days in San Diego before flying back home.
While waiting for our check in time at King's Inn Hotel, we killed time by getting a rental car and driving to Balboa Park.
We ended the day by having dinner at one of my favorite places to eat in San Diego, King's Fish House in Mission Valley. This is where we had a First Mate Platter full of fresh shrimp, Peruvian scallops, clams, California rock crab and various fresh oysters from around the world. A must for the seafood lover!

This ends our Disney Cruise, which was a perfect amount of time for a vacation, in my opinion (5 days). Hope you enjoyed our little mini series of our Disney Cruise on the Disney Wonder!

Balboa, Panama to San Diego, California 18
Reefing the mainsail.
This, the final passage of my sixth circumnavigation, was slow and hard. It took 46 days for vbg to sail 3300 miles. Five of the six full weeks of the passage were five of the six slowest weeks of the circumnavigation and two of the days were by far the shortest days runs, one of 16 miles noon to noon, another of only 14.
It is only a slight over simplification to say that the first 1500 miles were windless and the last 1500 miles to windward.
There was frustration, despair, and little good sailing and joy. In the absence of joy there is much to be said for honor and perseverance.
The passage log can be found here:
