By this point we have already met the 'Gentleman' in Meta and now we are in Preseren Square in the centre of Ljubljana. Spela has been very kind in enthusiastically trying to show me around before she leaves for a class - Ana remains grumpy ( sorry Ana ).
Both, Ana and Spela are explaining the story of Preseren , I presume. So the poet falls in love with this rather young girl even though he his married and Ana thinks he is a paedophile.
The conversation was fun and helped in remembering the history of the poet as well as maintaining a vivid memory of a beautiful day in Slovenia.
In the next video I meet the enlightened new age artist.

Ljubljana In Your Pocket - Prešeren Square (Prešernov Trg)
Formally a meeting place for several roads in front of one of the old entrance gates to the city, and a public square since Ljubljanas original defensive walls were torn down in the middle of the 19th century, this is one of the citys most important landmarks. Named after Slovenias national poet France Prešeren (German, Franz Prescheren, 1800-1849), it's both a popular meeting place (notably under the large statue of the man after whom the square is named) and a site for concerts and events during the summer. The charming little public space is ringed by a number of interesting sights including the magnificent Art Nouveau façade of the Urbanc House, an extraordinary piece of early 20th-century flamboyance and site of the now sadly closed Centromerkur department store
France Prešeren
Slovenia's national poet France Prešeren (1800-1849) stands in the square named in his honour at the foot of the Triple Bridge. As well as offering an interesting visual treat, the monument also serves as a focal point for people meeting in the city. Erected in 1905, the large monolith is the work of the architect Maks Fabiani and sculptor Ivan Zajc and features the Muse of poetry holding a small laurel of bay leaves over his head as well as extracts from his writing around the base.
Franciscan Church (Frančiškanski Samostan)
Built in an instantly recognisable, mildly swirly Baroque fashion, Ljubljanas mid-16th-century Franciscan Church dominates Prešernov Trg like a big pink birthday cake. Part of a larger complex with an additional Franciscan monastery, if youre lucky enough to find the doors unlocked expect a few treats inside including Robbas 18th-century altar, some charming frescoes dating from 100 years or so later and a chapel notable for containing a cross designed by none other than Jože Plečnik. For those who dont appreciate the finer points of ecclesiastic architecture, the front steps do at least provide a nice place to sit and watch the world go by on a gloriously sunny day.

After crossing the bridge towards St. Francesco's Cathedral, I found the plaza of Pre-Sheren. It is noticeable that group tourists gather to listen to the guide's explanation. It is a statue of Francesche Preherren, a 19th century poet who represents the city of romance and love. Julia liked poetry. So Preceren has built many poems for Julia. The statue of Preceren is here, and Julia's house was right there. Preceren is still looking at Julia. It's a beautiful love story. Following Franço's gaze, he and his wife, Julia Primitz's house and bronze statue appear. Julia, the daughter of the nobleman, finally did not accept his courtship. Slovenia's most beloved writer, Franche Preceren, spent his entire life in Kran, 30 minutes away by car from Ljubljana. There is still his birthplace here. This is Pre-Sheren's house. It is now used as a museum. Shiro is a romantic poet who established new norms in Slovenian literature and inspired ethnic sentiments. Francesche Preheren put on a beautiful poem with her first love Julia in her heart. This leaves their love forever.

Travel Slovenia - Visiting the Annunciation Church in Ljubljana
Take a tour of Ljubljana Annunciation Church in Ljubljana, Slovenia -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats.
This Franciscan church is the most prominent feature of Preseren Square in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
Ljubljana Annunciation Church is topped with the town's most immense bronze statue of the Virgin Mary, and is one of the city's key churches.
This unusual salmon-colored church was built from 1646 to 1660, and was constructed on the same site as an older church.
Though the church's original frescoes were damaged in an earthquake, newer ones have replaced them.
Near to the Ljubljana Annunciation Church is an older Franciscan Monastery related to the church.
The church continues to hold Mass services and is also freely open to visitors.

10 Things to do in Ljubljana, Slovenia Travel Guide Video Transcript:
Prešeren Square is a central meeting spot in the heart of the Old Town, so it made sense to start our tour of Ljubljana here. You’ll find the Franciscan Church of the Annunciation, lots of gelato shops, and the baffling bridge we just mentioned.
As for the reasoning behind the Triple Bridge and the famed dragon bridge, which is guarded by four dragons.
Ljubljana’s Central Market is another spot worth checking out.
We needed to sample some Slovenian food so we went to Allegria.
Sam ordered Zlikrofi (zhlee-krofi), a Slovenian dumpling stuffed with potato + lamb goulash along with Slovenian sausage with cabbage & potatoes.
Ljubljana Castle, which sits on Castle Hill overlooking the city. Built as a medieval fortress in the 11th century, Ljubljana Castle has seen many redesigns and renovations. Climb the Outlook Tower for 360 degree views of the city.
There are departures for cruises down the Ljubljanica. We boarded a cruise directly underneath the Love Lock Bridge, which is actually called Mesarski Most. It was our favourite activity in Ljubljana and it was a super relaxed way to watch the city.
Metelkova is home to the best street art.
One place we really enjoyed was Sarajevo 84, a restaurant specializing in Balkan cuisine. The portions massive & everything we ordered was delicious.
We had a feast featuring: grilled meat with pita and onions, baked beans and sausage, roasted peppers, and a flaky pastry stuffed with cheese. It only came to 23 Euros.
Speaking of galleries and museums, a few you’ll find include: the National Gallery, the Museum of Modern Art, and the National Museum of Slovenia.
We finished off at Tivoli, which is the largest park in Ljubljana.
And that’s it for our time in Ljubljana. Our visit was short, tasty, and relaxing, and we’re really glad we made some time to visit this underrated capital.
Now you guys know the drill; if there are any other things to do in Ljubljana that we may have missed in this travel guide, feel free to share your suggestions with fellow travellers below.
This is part of our Travel in Slovenia video series showcasing Slovenian food, Slovenian culture and Slovenian cuisine.
