Oklahoma's Railroad War
During the Oklahoma Land Runs there was considerable confusion. Because of that confusion the Great Railroad War of 1894 began. The War was between the Government town of Pond Creek, and Enid, and the Railroad towns of Pond Creek and Enid. Many attempts to stop the trains were made in the Government towns, but in the end the Railroad towns were not making it so they decided to give the Government towns rail service.

When Paul and Joan Allen volunteered to underwite the cost of a new baseball field in downtown Enid, they did so with the intention of memorializing their beloved son, David. What they actually did was help to further enrich an already bountiful baseball tradition in the town.

What better day to salute our men and women in uniform that the 4th of July! And there's no greater story to tell that that of the 45th Infantry Division. Union Pacific no. 844 Kansas City to McAlester, OK 10/15/12
Union Pacific was operating 4-8-4 no. 844 from Cheyenne to Houston, Tx via Kansa City and Oklahoma. We almost missed the train because we thought the railroad would operate it on their own southbound track out of KC. Instead, for the first time, they ran south out of KC on their BNSF trackage rights agreement on the old Frisco line west of the Kansas state line. Fortunately, a reported broken rail south of Olathe, KS slowed the train enough for us to catch it a a rural crossing north of Hillsdale, KS

To Guthrie and Back
After over 100 years of trains sounding their whistles and horns in downtown Oklahoma City, things are about to get a little more peaceful in the state capitol. OKC's quiet zone is coming soon, and this video chronicles some of the final days of the old equipment and artifacts of days gone by that were still visible in the Alley.
Oh, and there's a couple of train chases to go with it! Hope you all enjoy this video, and I hope to see you back for the next one!
