Reimers Ranch Park is Amazing
This was a long awaited video to make. We had the chance to visit Dripping Springs and get back out to Milton Reimers Ranch Park, an adventurer's paradise along the Perdenales River in Central Texas. Nested in Western Travis County and very close to Hamilton Pool, Reimers Ranch offers hiking, climbing, floating, biking and fishing. For pricing and other park info go here:
In this video we venture off trail in an attempt to encounter areas of the park we had never seen before. We succeeded and managed to capture some amazing creatures, cascades, caves and cliff sides on camera for you.

On a recent video shoot our primary camera was completely destroyed by the wind and gravity. We are trying to raise $1000 to rectify this situation. I (Clint) recently lost my job. This couldn't have happened at a worse time. Thank you beyond expression if you can help us achieve our goal of getting a new camera.

Reimer Ranch Park 5-5-18 Trailriding horses in Texas
Trail riding at Reimer Ranch, Dripping Springs, TX. Christy riding Diego, MFT, and me riding Maya, Paso Fino. Although this is mainly a biking park (18 miles of novice to extreme biking trails), there are equestrian trails that loop around the park. The trail follows the edge of the meadows around the outside. Nice trail riding, but don't plan on riding here in the Texas summer unless you want to be cooked because there is NO shade! There are a few short side trails to some overlooks and there is also one long trail (goes off the trail map and is not even shown on the map) that goes to Hogges trail. This trail is about a mile long and at the end it has two loops (inner loop is more than a mile long and the outer loop is 2.3 miles), then you exit back down the trail you came up on. This trail is inclined and rocky. The rest of the trail riding is packed dirt and grass so you don't need shoes or boots for the horses. At a walk and some trotting or gaiting, you can do the whole loop in less than 1 1/2 hours. If you add the Hogges trail, then you've added another +1 hour. If would really nice if they develop the other 2 adjoining park areas and have more trails.

Reimers Ranch, Texas: Rock Climbing, Mountain Biking, Hiking, Swimming, Fishing, Birding
Enjoy the beauty of Reimers Ranch Park with Ken Kramm. Hike the trails; listen to the birds; and watch world-class rock climbers scale high cliffs. It is amazing to see climbers crawl on ceilings of caves, 20-feet in the air above you. Its like watching Spider-woman. (Photography and audio recordings are by Ken Kramm. Go to his website for additional information and pictures.)
The Ranch is pristine parkland, open space and reserve land with almost 3 miles of continuous frontage along the Pedernales River in the Texas Hill Country. Before it was purchased by Travis country, the Reimers family operated the ranch as a private park. Climbers, mountain bikers, fishermen, birders, and hikers have been using this mecca for years. The park is renowned among rock climbing enthusiasts all over the United States, with the Reimers Ranch Climbing Committee hosting annual climbing events. Mountain bikers participate in events and races on a regular schedule. Both climbing routes and bike trails were installed and are maintained by local climbers and bikers.
Climbers Canyon at Reimers Ranch Park, Sit Spot #3
This video is the third episode of a miniseries about Sit Spots. These are locations where I sit down and re-connect with the earth. It's amazing what you'll see when you sit down and watch nature unfold around you. I am relaxing and separating myself from the crazy world with disturbing news, disasters and modern technology. I'm reconnecting with the beauty of the outdoors. Sit spots can be anywhere that you can find a patch of nature. They can be in the middle of the city or out in the country. Today I am at Reimers Ranch Park in Dripping Springs, Texas, USA. I walked down Climbers Canyon to the entrance of a small cavern.
Reimers Ranch is pristine parkland in western Travis county with almost 3 miles of continuous frontage along the Pedernales River. The area is recognized as a destination with world-class rock climbing. The local mountain biking community likewise enjoy 18 miles of trails through classic central Texas landscape.
This miniseries is based on a suggestion from Osacka Hagga in the Netherlands, who wrote: You should consider for every trip just making a 5 minute video where you find a nice spot with water of something flowing in the background.

We headed to Hamilton pool, however it is full so we have to wait 2 hours to get in the park. We decided to go another park nearby. That's why we went to Milton Reimers Ranch Park. =)
Hamilton Pool, Best Kept Secret of Texas, in Dripping Springs.
Hamilton Pool, Best Kept Secret of Texas.
Dripping Springs, Texas
Hamilton Pool Preserve is a natural pool that was created when the dome of an underground river collapsed due to massive erosion thousands of years ago. The pool is located about 23 miles west of Austin, Texas off Highway 71.
14 Interesting Facts about Hamilton Pool
1. The water at Hamilton Pool is really cold with a temperature about 50 degrees in some spots.
2. The Hamilton Pool waterfall never completely dries up, however, when it's dry it does slow to a trickle.
3. Hamilton Creek spills out over limestone outcroppings to create a 50-foot waterfall.
4. According to legend, the 8-year-old son of an immigrant family from Germany who lived on the land in the 1880s discovered the collapsed grotto.
5. Collapsed grotto and canyon uniquely surrounds the pool, formed by water erosion over thousands of years
6. Cultural remains near the pool are more than 8,000 years old.
7. At the turn of the century, only about five people were able to make it to the pool because they were the only ones who had transportation.
8. Lipan Apaches and Tonkawa lived in the area before the 1800s.
9. Golden-Cheeked Warblers and various other birds call the preserve home.
10. Between 1960 and 1980, Hamilton Pool gained popularity and, as a result, the land suffered from the visiting public.
11. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department named Hamilton Pool the most significant natural area in rural Travis County in 1980
12. Travis County purchased 232 acres in 1985 to implement a land management plan to restore Hamilton Pool.
13. There is a limit on the number of people who can be in the preserve, which means there's a waiting line to swim in the summer. The wait time can be about an hour.
14. Drones are permitted to be flown in nearby Reimers Ranch Park, but cannot fly over areas where crowds gather.

Bass Fishing at Reimers Ranch
I was fishing at Reimers Ranch Park and I caught a couple bass. Most were Large-Mouth Bass but one or two may have been Guadalupe Bass. The river that ran through the ranch was the Pedernales River and it was very deep but I caught most of my fish up shallow that were close to rocks and brush. I saw a couple big bass (probably 2-2.5 lbs) but those were the biggest bass that i saw. If you wanted to you could fish for catfish and carp at the park. I saw a couple of them there. My GoPro ran out of battery but later in my fishing excursion i came across some big rocks that probably held some larger fish but my mom and brother were wanting to leave so i couldn't fish it. Overall I would definitely go back and although i didn't see or catch and HUGE fish it was still a blast! Hint: if you want to catch fish don't fish in the swimming/beach area!

Oh, and River Place Nature Trail
River Place Nature Trail is pretty much the perfect place in Austin for getting in shape as there are 1000s of steps and a great deal of altitude change. Follow us as we give you a look at what this trail is like. The water was flowing in the creek which made for some spectacular views of the surrounding natural area. Near the intersection of 2222 and 620, River Place is a very short commute from pretty much anywhere in Austin. For more info visit the Friends of River Place Trail website here:
Special thanks to Andres Natalino and Joma Sport for sending us the trail shoes. This trail was the perfect test and without hesitation, we both agree that they passed. We will use them again and again.
