Roebling Suspension Bridge
The John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge, originally known as the Cincinnati-Covington Bridge spans the Ohio River between Cincinnati, Ohio and Covington, Kentucky. When opened on December 1, 1866, it was the longest suspension bridge in the world at 1,057 feet (322 m) main span.[3] Pedestrians use the bridge to get between the sports venues in Cincinnati (Paul Brown Stadium, Great American Ball Park, and U.S. Bank Arena) and the hotels, bars, restaurants, and parking lots in Northern Kentucky. The bar and restaurant district at the foot of the bridge on the Kentucky side is known as Roebling Point.

Crash closes Roebling Suspension Bridge
CINCINNATI (WKRC) - There is no traffic crossing the Roebling Suspension Bridge, and there won't be for the next several days after the bridge took a big hit Tuesday night.
The latest word is the bridge will be closed for a week. It isn't clear if the weather is to blame, but an accident on the bridge did enough damage to force engineers to shut down the 150-year-old landmark.
About 10 p.m. Tuesday, a driver slammed into a steel beam about a quarter of the way between Cincinnati and Covington. He got out and ran and left behind two passengers, one with injuries who had to be taken to the hospital. He also did some serious damage to the Roebling.
The bridge was closed shortly after Covington Police cleared the accident scene. At first light, transportation engineers were all over the damaged beam. It's one of the upright pieces added to the original bridge in the 1890s to make it stiffer. The steel is scraped, bent and cracked or torn in several places. There's no quick fix.
It could take up to a week to do some of the analysis that needs to happen, said Nancy Wood of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. There's a couple of tests they need to do to determine capacity -- how this member is damaged and how the damage could compromise this bridge.
The Roebling has connected Cincinnati and Covington since 1867. It has been well-maintained and still carries about 8,000 cars, trucks and buses every day.
At Roebling Point Books and Coffee Wednesday, Emily Grogan worked remotely from the office that was John Roebling's during the bridge construction. She uses the bridge every day.
It's a bummer. Obviously there are ways around, thank goodness. But it's the most direct by far, so it's a pretty huge annoyance for a long commute, she said.
Across the river, drivers discovered the Roebling was closed as they looped around the roundabout and saw the signs.
The transportation cabinet suggests drivers take the Clay Wade Bailey Bridge or the Taylor Southgate Bridge until the Roebling is reopened.
The pedestrian sidewalks are open for foot traffic.

Ice closes Roebling Suspension Bridge
CINCINNATI (WKRC) - The Roebling Suspension Bridge has been closed due to icy conditions.
Police say several accidents were reported on the bridge before they shut it down Wednesday morning. A Facebook post by Covington Police says there's no way to treat the frozen, grated road.
Sidewalks will remain open.
Police suggested drivers take the Clay Wade Bailey Bridge or the Brent Spence Bridge to get to and from Cincinnati and Covington.
Police say they expect the bridge to remain closed for an extended period of time.

Ramps were constructed leading directly from the bridge to the Dixie Terminal building used for streetcars. These provided Covington–Cincinnati streetcars with a grade-separated route to the center of downtown, and the terminal building was originally intended to connect, via underground pedestrian passages, with the never-built Fountain Square Station of the infamous Cincinnati Subway. When streetcar service ceased in the 1950s the terminal was converted to a diesel bus terminal. The ramps were removed in 1998 when it ceased being used as a bus terminal.
