American Viticultural Areas entirely within the state include the Willamette Valley, Southern Oregon, Umpqua Valley, and Rogue Valley AVAs. Parts of the Columbia Gorge, Walla Walla Valley, and Snake River Valley AVAs lie within Oregon. Pinot noir and Pinot gris are the top two grapes grown, with over 16,000 tons (14,515 metric tons) harvested in 2005. As of 2005, Oregon wine makers produced over 1.5 million cases combined.
With 303 wineries in Oregon, a tourism industry has developed around wine tasting. Much of the tourism focuses on the wineries and tasting rooms in and around the Yamhill Valley southwest of Portland. In 2004, tourism contributed an estimated USD $92 million to the state economy, excluding winery and tasting room sales.
There are, loosely speaking, three main wine producing regions with a major presence in the state of Oregon, as defined by non-overlapping American Viticultural Areas. Two of them—the Willamette Valley AVA and the Southern Oregon AVA—are wholly contained within Oregon; a third, the Columbia Gorge AVA straddles the Columbia River and includes territory in both Oregon and Washington; however, this AVA is considered to be an Oregon AVA. Portions of the Walla Walla Valley AVA, an area which is primarily in Washington (along with the Columbia Valley AVA which contains it), descend into Oregon in the Milton-Freewater area. The Southern Oregon AVA was recently created as the union of two Southern Oregon wine growing regions long considered distinct, the Rogue Valley and the Umpqua Valley.

Bottling Line Movie_June 2009.wmv
Select Mobile Bottling Line Come to RoxyAnn Winery, June 2009.
The trailer backed up to the crush pad and hooked up to the tanks.
We used a mobile bottling trailer from Select Mobile Bottlers of Napa, CA. The automated line ran great and was a blast to watch.
Mobile bottling give us a chance to bottle in a fast, efficient way, with minimum time elapsing between the first bottle and the last, resulting in a more consistent bottle of wine throughout. Quality is our first and foremost consideration. The mobile bottling line insures that each bottle of RoxyAnn wine will be consistent from start to finish, resulting in a better wine for you!
In addition, the mobile bottling line allows us to save time, space and money. The cost of the bottling line is offset by the savings in man-hours (labor), as the line can process in a single day what normally would takes days.
OSU Agricultural Executive Council's 2011 Tour to Southern Oregon
The Agricultural Executive Council represents more than 30 clubs in the College of Agricultural Sciences at Oregon State University. Council members are chosen by their peers and work to foster camaraderie among students and further their understanding of agriculture.
Every year, the council sponsors a bus tour to a region in Oregon so students can visit various agricultural businesses. In 2011, the students traveled to the area around Medford and visited Del Rio Vineyards and Winery, Crater Animal Clinic, Gary West Smoked Meats, Harry and David, Rogue Creamery, Lillie Belle Farms' chocolate factory, the tasting room for Daisy Creek and Madrone Mountain wine, the Grange Co-op, Ashland Greenhouses and OSU's Southern Oregon Research and Extension Center.

Eleven Winery on Bainbridge Island, Rewriting the Wine Description
I went with Chris and his friend Mick across the bay to Bainbridge. We didn't make it past the first winery. We tasted and tasted, and one of the wines did not have a description, so Chris made one for it.
