Places to see in ( Dijon - France ) Rue Des Forges
The Rue des Forges is a picturesque street in the historic center of Dijon. Some houses on this street dated back to XIV - XV centuries. Very pleasant walk. Many good looking shops, bakeries, restaurants, etc.
Love the smattering of Medieval architecture in the city, mixed with buildings of later centuries. A wonderful city for just wondering and taking in the sights, especially architectural. Dijon is definitely worth a visit for 2-3 days.
Dijon has over 200 historical monuments. In the Rue des Forges, the facades of a couple of nice townhouses (hôtel particulier) can be found. Very touristic street, all about shopping.

A Walk Up Rue de Liberte', Dijon, France
The Rue de la Liberté is the main street in the historic center of the French city Dijon. It connects the Place Darcy to the Place de la Libération. This busy shopping street for pedestrians is lined with buildings mostly dating from the 15th century to the 18th century, which are classified as monuments historiques.
The Rue de la Liberté was named Rue de Condé before the French Revolution. A part of the street, from the Coin du Miroir to the Place d'Armes (now Place de la Libération), was drilled in 1724. Previously, the street included the Rue des Forges and reached the back of the Palais des Ducs. The name Coin du Miroir is linked to a hotel in the old Rue Saint-Jean at the corner of the streets Guillaume and Gondrans and which belonged to the Abbaye Notre-Dame du Miroir. This hotel, composed of a square tower which displays on its first floor large ogival openings in the wall, crenellated and surrounded by ditches, was demolished in 1767

Concert
Marc Esposito (guitare), Gildas Lefaix (batterie), Sébastien Bacquias (contrebasse)
compositions.

The Liberation Square is the central square of the historic heart of Dijon. It is shaped like a hemicycle and opens onto the palace of the dukes of Burgundy , where it was thought to sublimate the power of the king, especially that of Louis XIV , for whom an equestrian statue was erected in this public square .
The royal square was built between 1681 and 1686, where there was a small place Saint-Christophe and old buildings depending on the palace of the dukes. The task is carried out by Jules Hardouin-Mansart. The royal square was to serve as a showcase for the equestrian statue of Louis XIV , made by Étienne Le Hongre (1628-1690), an ordinary sculptor of the King's buildings at the height of his career. It was commissioned in 1686 and completed shortly before his death in 1690 . Because of its weight of 26 tons and the poor condition of the roads, its transport to Dijon had to be interrupted and it was stored in Auxerre for twenty-six years, before finally reaching Dijon, thanks to the engineer of the roads and bridges Pierre Morin (transportation that required twenty pairs of oxen and cost 30,000 pounds). It was inaugurated onApril 15, 1725 . The decoration of the pedestal about 8 meters high, in gray and white marble, was not completed until 1742.
At the Revolution, the place was renamed Place d'Armes , and the statue of Louis XIV, destroyed on August 15, 1792 was partly sent to the cannons of Creusot.
Renamed imperial place under the Empire in 1804 .
Renamed the Royal Place at the Restoration, in 1814 .
Renamed Place d'Armes in 1831 under the July Monarchy.
It was renamed Place de la Liberation at the liberation, in September 1944 , after a debate between Gaullists and Communists to call the place, Place de Gaulle. The General de Gaulle gave this up a speech on 23 October 1944 .
On February 15, 1945 , the crowd lynched Police Commissioner Jacques Marsac (1916-1945), then awaiting trial for collaboration. Jacques Marsac was released from his prison cell in Dijon; the crowd beat him to death, hanging from a sign, then from a tree. The corpse was brought Liberation Square where he was suspended a moment the gates of the palace, before being dragged through the streets of the city. Place de la Libération was transformed by architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte in 2005 - 2006. It has become pedestrian, with the installation of three fountains and its surface covered with stone Comblanchien.

Places to see in ( Dijon - France ) Hotel de Vogue
The Hotel de Vogue of Dijon in Côte d'Or is a mansion of the xvii th century , built in the French Renaissance . It is located at 8 rue de la Chouette , near the bedside of Notre Dame Church. The hotel was classified as a historical monument on January 5, 1911. This mansion richly decorated, was built in 1614 for Étienne Bouhier Chevigny if we believe the date on the large fireplace in the guard room. He was a magistrate and councilor in the parliament of Burgundy from 1607 to 1635 as well as a great art lover. Adhering to architecture, he was given the opportunity to have been the architect of his hotel. The latter is considered the prototype of Dijon parliamentary hotels.
This noble style, which can find in Toulouse , Montpellier and Nimes , is influenced significantly by the language of the Italian Renaissance. Indeed, the will is to reconnect with the modes of previous constructions. This is facilitated by such treaties of the xvi th century , which all refer to ancient monuments. Moreover, in the case of this hotel, the possibility of influence (ivy leaves) from the achievements of architect Hugues Sambin can not be ruled out. In the courtyard, the plan of the hotel takes again that of the new private mansions between courtyard and garden: main body vis-a-vis the portico with the Italian framing the entry, two wings in return framing the court and forming pavilions.
The decoration of facades reminiscent of the xvi th century pediments curved and triangular masks , garlands, but the caryatids are gone, replaced by fins . The roof is made of a mosaic of glazed tiles in the Burgundy style. The arcades of the portico of the entrance are surmounted by a rich decoration with fame half recumbent in the spandrels . The columns are intertwined with ivy. On their bases were engraved the monogram EBMG celebrating the second marriage of Etienne Bouhier contracted on April 25, 1615 with Madeleine Giroud.
The left portal was pierced in 1717 to allow entry of the coaches to the garden where stables had been built.
The garden facade is devoid of decoration outside the animation given by the two turrets on a square plan. The guard room near the entrance has a large fireplace decorated with a painting representing Hero and Leander. Caryatids decorate the mantelpieces. In 1766 the hotel became the property of the family of Vogüé by the marriage, on November 29, of Catherine Bouhier de Versalieu with the count Cerice-François Melchior de Vogüé. Currently owned by the City of Dijon , it houses the city's human resources department. It has a glazed tile roof of Burgundy .

. Pour plus de détails, cliquez ici : . Places to see in ( Dijon - France ) Ducal Palace
The Palace of the Dukes and Estates of Burgundy or Palais des ducs et des États de Bourgogne is a remarkably well-preserved architectural assemblage in Dijon. The oldest part is the 14th and 15th century Gothic ducal palace and seat of the Dukes of Burgundy, made up of a logis still visible on place de la Liberation, the ducal kitchens on cour de Bar, the tour de Philippe le Bon, a guette overlooking the whole city, and tour de Bar. Most of what can be seen today, however, was built in the 17th and especially the 18th centuries, in a classical style, when the palace was a royal residence building and housed the estates of Burgundy. Finally, the 19th façade of the musée on place de la Sainte-Chapelle was added on the site of the palace's Sainte-Chapelle, demolished in 1802. The Palace houses the city's town hall and the musée des Beaux-Arts.
The Duchy of Burgundy was founded in the 9th century, around the year 880, from the Kingdom of Burgundy by the Carolingian kings of France, Louis III and Carloman II, and the Princes who shared the Carolingian Empire, after reorganizing the entire kingdom into duchies and counties. Richard, Count of Autun, known as Richard the Justiciar, was named the first Margrave and Duke of Burgundy. He was one of the six in the French Peerage installed under his suzerain, King Louis III of France.
The palace turned into a Royal residence when the Duchy of Burgundy was occupied by the Kingdom of France after the death of Charles the Bold, in 1477, and the treaty of Arras of 1482 between the king Louis XI and Maximilian I, Holy Roman Emperor.
The ducal tombs were reinstalled in the Salle de garde following the razing of the Chartreuse de Champmol. During the 2010–12 renovation of the palace, a number of sculptures from tombs have traveled on exhibit.
