Nice 2000 KONE Monospace MRL Tr. Glass Elev@Toei Ōedo Line Ryogoku Station, Sumida, Tokyo, Japan
The Toei Ōedo Line (都営地下鉄大江戸線 Toei Chikatetsu Ōedo-sen) is a subway line in Tokyo, Japan, operated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Transportation (Toei). It commenced full operations on December 12, 2000; using the Japanese calendar this reads 12/12/12 as the year 2000 equals Heisei 12. The line is completely underground, making it the second-longest railway tunnel in Japan after the Seikan Tunnel. Most stations are deep, located around 40 meters underground. (Source: Wikipedia)
Toei Ōedo Line means the Big Edo Line and Edo was the city's name until 1867.
This is perhaps the most expensive metro line ever built - it cost 1400 billion yen and it took 10 years to build it. Also, it was the 12th metro line in the Tokyo metro system (Tokyo Metro and Toei Subway combined).
The first section of the 40,7km (38 stations)- line was opened in December 1991 with 4 stations from Hikarigaoka to Nerima, then extended further to Tochomae and Shinjuku by 1997 (8 stations). In April 2000, Yoyogi station was opened, and the full loop line with 25 more stations was completed in December 2000 (the 38th station, the Shiodome station, was added later in 2002), and it took 10 years to build it. It takes 81 minutes to to a full loop on the line.
25 of the 38 stations on the linear motor metro line (the second in Japan, after the Nagahori Tsurumi-ryokuchi line in Osaka) got equipped with KONE Monospace elevators in 2000 (I am not sure whether the Yoyogi station opened in April 2000 also got KONE Monospace elevators) - this is the first and only time I've seen imported Finnish elevators in Japan! Also, the elevators are custom-made, with black bumpers as in Japanese elevators, and they also have Japanese floor announcement.
In the elevator in the video, for some reason they've changed the original Sigma buttons to new ones, but otherwise, nothing has been changed since 2000.

Not a vlog, no intrusive faces or talking, pure Japan only.
I planned to film Edo Tokyo museum but unlike photos filming video is prohibited there. I had no idea what to do but planned live stream already. So I walked in random direction.
The first half is walking through common living districts and the second part is walking through a park I visited before towards SkyTree.

Tokyo Skytree, Sumida, Tokyo, Japan
Tokyo Skytree (東京スカイツリー Tōkyō Sukaitsurī?) is a broadcasting, restaurant, and observation tower in Sumida, Tokyo, Japan. It became the tallest structure in Japan in 2010 and reached its full height of 634.0 metres (2,080 ft) in March 2011, making it the tallest tower in the world, displacing the Canton Tower, and the second tallest structure in the world after the Burj Khalifa (829.8 m/2,722 ft).
The tower is the primary television and radio broadcast site for the Kantō region; the older Tokyo Tower no longer gives complete digital terrestrial television broadcasting coverage because it is surrounded by high-rise buildings. Skytree was completed on 29 February 2012, with the tower opening to the public on 22 May 2012. The tower is the centrepiece of a large commercial development funded by Tobu Railway and a group of six terrestrial broadcasters headed by NHK. Trains stop at the adjacent Tokyo Skytree Station and nearby Oshiage Station. The complex is 7 km (4.3 mi) north-east of Tokyo Station.

Hokusai, Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji
Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji (富嶽三十六景, Fugaku Sanjūrokkei) is an ukiyo-e (浮世絵, pictures of the floating world) series of large, colour woodblock prints created between 1826 and 1833 by the Japanese master of the brush and skilled draftsman, Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849). This series marked the beginning of Hokusai's courtship of the great mountain regarded as the source of the secret of immortality, and his effort to capture Fuji from a variety of different places and distances, in different seasons, weather conditions and telling context. The first 36 were included in the original publication and, due to their popularity, ten more were added after the original publication.
Hokusai drew each of the images on paper, or, more precisely, onto washi, the Japanese paper, and then he glued them onto a plank of wood, usually cherry wood, using the outlines given by the drawings for cutting the wood block. Hokusai followed the Nishiki-e (錦絵, brocade pictures) method of using multiple blocks for separate portions of the image, allowing him to use a wide range of colours, and to achieve incredibly complex and detailed images.
All images are faithful reproductions of two-dimensional public domain works of art that are in the public domain.

Music: Etenraku, performed by The Kyoto Imperial Court Music Orchestra of Japan, is a Gagaku (雅楽, elegant, correct, or refined music) style, Hyojo mode, piece. Gagaku is the traditional court music of Japan. It consists of three primary bodies: Saibara, Komagaku, and Togaku. When the music is played alone it is called Kangen, and when accompanied with a dance it is called Bugaku. It has been played since the sixth century, and is Japan's oldest orchestral art music. It is the music played whenever an important member of the royal class makes an entrance, and is rarely performed in public. But, I think that all classes must be abolished, so here it is dedicated to Mount Fuji, Katsushika Hokusai and his works, and YOU ALL!
All I have produced before the age of seventy is not worth taking into account. At seventy-three I have learned a little about the real structure of nature, of animals, plants, trees, birds, fishes and insects. In consequence when I am eighty, I shall have made still more progress. At ninety I shall penetrate the mystery of things; at one hundred I shall certainly have reached a marvelous stage; and when I am a hundred and ten, everything I do, be it a dot or a line, will be alive. I beg those who live as long as I to see if I do not keep my word. Written at the age of seventy five by me, once Hokusai, today Gwakyo Rojin, the old man mad about drawing.

The Sumida Hokusai Museum | JAPAN Forward
Katsushika Hokusai, a world-renowned ukiyo-e artist, was born in Honjo-Wari-Gesui (presently the Kamezawa area in Sumida Ward, Tokyo) in 1760 and spent almost the entire 90 years of his life in Sumida Ward where he created a large number of masterpieces.
In honor of this outstanding artist whom many local citizens are truly proud of, the Sumida Ward opened the Sumida Hokusai Museum on November 22, 2016 as a base to invigorate the local community and contribute to the region’s industry and tourism.
The collection features an exhibit of his life and the relationship between Hokusai and Sumida through high-definition real-size replicas of representative works and related episodes. In addition, special exhibitions of the results of research and studies on Hokusai and Sumida will be held in the gallery. Moreover, the museum will conduct a broad range of activities aimed at disseminating a wealth of information by holding seminars, lectures, and workshops.
Through these activities, the museum hopes to relay information about Hokusai and Sumida both at home and abroad, with the aim of enhancing the appeal of both.

【4K】Fools in the rain. Awa-odori in Tokyo Shimokitazawa.
Not a vlog, no intrusive faces or talking, pure Japan only.
Actually I was planning Shinjuku walk but found news about Shimokitazawa Awa-odori event. Spent some time in the beginning looking around and for festival location.
I like Awa-Odori in Shimokitazawa more than in Koenji. Koenji event is very regulated with noisy policemen and fences, dancers are too serious. Shimo-kitazawa is nice for its small streets, dancers are in front of you and very relaxed, you can even dance with everyone,
Awa-odori - dance from Shikoku also known as Fools dance.
