Sandwich Massachusetts Cape Cod 375th Anniversary Celebration Paintscaping
In recognition of the 375th birthday of The Town Of Sandwich, the church in the center of town was turned into the canvas for a spectacular animation. It's called Paintscaping and it's a grand video writ large on a huge structure — the First Church of Christ, constructed in 1848. This ~9 minute presentation was first shown at 8:30PM on August 3rd, 2014. It was then shown multiple times that evening and again on the evenings of August 4th and 5th. The animation celebrates the history of the town — incorporated in 1639 — including notable buildings like the original Town Hall, The Glass Museum, Heritage Museum, the wood boardwalk, The Daniel Webster Inn, as well as nearby Joint Base Cape Cod (previously Otis Air Force Base). Martha Vineyard - It is a beautiful island located on south of Cape cod.
Can be reached through ferry. It is preferable to take Island Queen ferry from Falmouth Cape Cod to Oak Bluffs (MY) was it is budget friendly (offers $20 return ticket). Once in Martha one can rent a bike, moped or car and enjoy the scenic beauty of the island with some trails offering ocean view on both side of rode.

Heritage Museums & Gardens is comprised of three galleries and expansive gardens located in historic Sandwich, Massachusetts. It includes galleries for American Folk Art, a vintage carousel, automobiles and traveling exhibitions.
The gardens feature a collection of thousands of rhododendrons, including a collection of the world-renowned Dexter variety. Their typical bloom time is from Memorial Day Weekend to mid-June. Other horticultural areas of interest include: holly, daylily, herb, hosta, and heather gardens, as well as more than a thousand varieties of trees, shrubs and flowers.
The grounds also include the Old East Mill, a windmill built in Orleans, Massachusetts in 1800, and extensively restored in 1999-2000. In 2002, a labyrinth was also added to the grounds, designed by Marty Cain, one of the best-known labyrinth designers in North America. Also located on the grounds is the Hart Family Maze Garden and the Cape Cod Hydrangea Garden.

Caryn Samuell founded Glass Workshop in Grafton, MA in 1983 (after many years of working with glass as a hobby), created mostly Tiffany style traditional stained glass and taught classes in stained glass, sandblast etching, glass fusing, and design. After a divorce, Caryn supported herself and her two sons by working out of her home in Grafton, MA as an artist and teacher. Caryn Samuell moved to Cape Cod in 1996 and opened Samuell Day Glass Gallery and Glass Workshop. The location of Samuell Day Gallery on historic Route 6A in Cummaquid, MA enhanced Caryn's ability to work out of her home and be a mother to her children. Caryn's sons are now grown. Brian Vanderbeek is now a successful musician (electric bass beekbass.com) and leader of a popular band called Funktapuss. Aaron Vanderbeek has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University as well as a Masters in Entertainment Technology/Video Game Design and is owner of delectable.com in San Francisco. (Aaron is a concert pianist as well). Needless to say, Caryn Samuell is not only an incredible artist, but a proud mother as well.

Through the First Person program, Holocaust survivors have the opportunity to share their remarkable personal stories of hope, tragedy, and survival with thousands of visitors at the Museum. This program was recorded June 7, 2018. It features Morris Rosen, was born in 1922 in Upper Silesia. Morris survived several Nazi camps, one of which was Buchenwald concentration camp in Germany. In 1945, Morris was liberated by the Soviet Army from the Theresienstadt camp in occupied Czechoslovakia. He came to the United States in 1949 and today lives in Baltimore, Maryland.
