ECOLOGICALLY: The St Sebastian River is rich in plants and wildlife. It leads to the important Indian River Lagoon. The Lagoon has more species of plants and animals than any other estuary in North America, including over 2,200 animal species and over 2,100 plant species. Since it is located where the temperate and tropical zones overlap and located within the Indian River Lagoon at the confluence of freshwater and saltwater sources, the refuge is uniquely situated to support a wide variety of resident and migratory species. And is one of the most biologically diverse estuaries in the continental United States.

Welcome to Sebastian Inlet State Park
Don't forget your super duper, extra potent mosquito or bug spray when visiting the park. We have our annual flying visitors—mosquitoes and no-see-ums.
The Sebastian Inlet swimming cove has now been reopened. Please be advised that the area nearest the Inlet has been dredged to a depth of approximately 6 feet. There is a plenty of very shallow areas for waders and wildlife with a gradual slope to the new depth. Fishing can be accessed by walking through the tide pool area. Parking will be in the paved area adjacent to the bridge. The Cove road and the area NW of it will remain closed for a while longer. Thank you for your patience as we complete these improvements to the park.
