Shinjuku Ramen Buta Kakuni Gyoza Little Tokyo Makati Chino Roces Avenue by HourPhilippines.com
Shinjuku Ramen Buta Kakuni Gyoza Little Tokyo Makati Chino Roces Avenue. Shinjuku Ramen House Little Tokyo Makati Best Gyoza and Buta Kakuni Ramen Japanese Restaurant. Shinjuku Ramen is one of the oldest Japanese owned Ramen Houses in Manila having been in operations since the 90's. The original branch in Little Tokyo has been recently renovated in 2014 to provide more comfortable table seating for its guests as before it was catered more towards single Japanese business men dining alone. Shinjuku Ramen has survived this long as their food has been consistent and Japanese clients and ourselves keep coming back for the best Gyoza and signature Buta Kakuni Ramen in town! Buta Kakuni is a Japanese style of braised pork belly originating in southern Japann’s Nagasaki in Kyushu Island. What makes Buta Kakuni so delicious? It’s tender, juicy chunks of pork belly that have been braised until tender and glazed in a braising liquid combination made from dashi, mirin, sugar, and soy sauce and Shinjuku makes it so well that it literally melts in your mouth.
Their gyoza is massive and juicy and an excellent stand alone dish or to complement to your ramen, and trust us well worth the price if you are a die hard gyoza fan.

What to Eat at Tsukiji Market in Tokyo, Japan [Stir and Travel Ep. 7]
Japan has delicious food at every corner. Tsukiji Market is world's largest and busiest fish market! Pro-Tip: Don't go during Golden Week because the inner market is closed, but thankfully the outer market was still open and delicious. Can't wait to go back to Tokyo to get there at 5am to see the fish auction!

One of the most social meals in Japan is sukiyaki, a hot pot style meal which is cooked at the table. A shallow pot filled with sukiyaki broth, made up of brown sugar and soy is brought to the table where thinly sliced meat, vegetables and noodles are added. Once cooked the pots ingredients are dipped in beaten raw egg before being devoured. Sweet, intense and creamy (from the raw egg)- this unique style of eating is really popular in Japan and should definitely be on your eating itinerary when in Japan.
We eat at Nabezo, a chain restaurant which serves both shabu shabu (Japanese hot pot) and sukiyaki in a buffet setting. You have a set amount of time (100 minutes) in which to finish your meal and during this time have access to the vegetable, meat, dessert and drinks (non alcoholic) buffet.
Nabezo, 5F Humax Pavilion Ikebukuro Sunshine 60 St., 1-22-10 Higashi-ikebukuro, Toshima-ku,Tokyo. Open Monday to Friday 11:30am to 3:00pm (L.O.2:30pm) and 5:00pm to 11:00pm (L.O.10:30pm) and Saturday to Sunday 11:30am to 11:00pm (L.O. 10:30pm) (Numerous branches around Tokyo).

Japanese Street Food Tour of Ameyoko Market (アメ横) | Tokyo, Japan
Come join us for a Japanese Street Food Tour of Ameyoko Market (アメ横) located in Tokyo, Japan. This busy street market situated in between Ueno and Okachimachi stations is often referred to as Ameyoko (アメ横) which means Candy Store Alley. Aside from street food you can also clothes, bags and cosmetics along with spices, dried food, fish and a whole lot more. Typically the market is open between 10:00 to 22:00 (shops close earlier on Wednesdays) but your best bet for eating Japanese Street Food would be in the late afternoon or early evening. All in all we tried the following street food items:
1) Takyoyaki (たこ焼き) Octopus ball shaped snacks served with bonito flakes and sauces - 200 Yen ($1.77 USD)
2) Arirang Hotdog - Korean style street food hot dog deep-fried in batter with various toppings - 430 Yen ($3.81 USD)
3) Chocolate dipped fruit on a skewer (bananas and strawberries) - 300 to 350 Yen ($2.66 to 3.10 USD)
4) Spicy Japanese hot pot including various ingredients - 600 Yen ($5.33 USD)
5) Japanese Beer - I honestly forget the price but I think it might have been roughly 400 Yen ($3.55)
6) Yakitori 焼き鳥) - Japanese skewered chicken and other assorted meats - 150 to 200 Yen ($1.33 $1.77)
7) Japanese soft-serve ice cream - 250 Yen ($2.22)

Japanese Street Food Tour of Ameyoko Market (アメ横) | Tokyo, Japan Travel Video Transcript:
The food adventures continues. Today we are bringing you to Ameya-Yokochō (アメヤ横丁) another market here in Tokyo. Apparently this one is known as Candy Seller Alley (Ameyoko - アメ横)) and they sell a lot of sweets. I've read that after the war this was kind of like the black market where you could come to buy your sweet potatoes and your sugar. You know kind of luxury items at the time. But we've been walking around here and we're seeing lots of clothes, lots of shoes. We've seen a few sweets. I'm hoping we stumble upon more. But yeah it should be a fun and tasty video.
We found a stand that was serving up Takoyaki which are the little balls pancake balls with octopus. And this is something we ate a lot in Osaka. This is actually where the dish originates. So yeah we're just going to be dressing this putting on some condiments and digging in.
So here we go. We put some of that barbecue flavored sauce, some mayo, some bonito flakes.
Second food item and we still haven't gotten anything sweet. No. We've gone for Korean street food now. Yeah this one caught our eye and this one is called they sell Arirang Hot Dogs. The name of the business. And they sell different kinds of breaded hot dogs and the one that I think I ordered is going to have cheddar.
Time for me to try the chocolate covered banana. This looks so good. Look at all of those sprinkles just covered in chocolate.
So we decided to get some Yakitori meat to go along with our beers. I believe we have what is chicken and it is like doused in this sweet sauce. We've already had a bite. Woah! Sam has got chicken skin.
We got two ice creams for dessert. This is the first one. It is Matcha Vanilla. This one is for you Sam.
And I have some chocolate vanilla coming any second now.
Alright guys so that concludes are street food video. It turns out they don't have as many sweets and desserts as I thought they would but we still had a good time. Got to try some new dishes. So I hope you enjoyed that and stick around for more Tokyo videos coming up soon.
This is part of our Travel in Japan video series showcasing Japanese food, Japanese culture and Japanese cuisine.

Harajuku Tour of Takeshita Street + Kawaii Monster Cafe in Tokyo, Japan
In this video, we take you on a Harajuku Tour of Takeshita Street and also go inside the infamous Kawaii Monster Cafe!
Harajuku (原宿) is one of the best-known neighbours in all of Tokyo and it is synonymous with shopping, youth culture and fashion. We walked the full length of Takeshita Street, the beating heart of Harajuku, to give you a taste of what this place has to offer along Takeshita Street.
Along the way, we visited outdoor vending stalls, cute boutiques, candy stores and cosplay shops where you can find costumes and wigs in every colour of the rainbow.
Takeshita (竹下通り) can get very crowded - we discovered that the first time we visited on a weekend - so for this video, we came back on a weekday morning when there were fewer people. It was a far better experience as this time around we could actually browse the shops and explore Harajuku a bit more leisurely.
One place that we didn't want to miss on our Harajuku tour was the Kawaii Monster Cafe, which is quite unusual as far as themed cafes and concept cafes go. This place feels a bit like a nightclub set in a children's fantasy land. It is loud, colourful, and dizzying - basically one of those experiences that you can only have in Japan!
We found the Kawaii Monster Cafe fascinating at first because we had never seen anything quite like it, but the charm wore off soon enough. The food was mediocre and eating there was expensive. We had to pay an admission fee of 500 yen per person to enter the cafe, and on top of that, each person had to order one meal and one beverage. It came to around $40 USD, and well, we'll let you judge the food at Kawaii Monster Cafe base on our footage.
After eating at the cafe, we returned to Takeshita Street (竹下通り) to continue our tour of Harajuku (原宿). We browsed through a few more shops, picked up some souvenirs, and sampled some candy along the way - have we mentioned that there are a lot of candy stores on this street?!
And that pretty much sums up our visit to Harajuku. Hopefully, this video gave you an idea of what Takeshita Street and the surrounding area have to offer.
