SMOKY CAPE LIGHTHOUSE / / GoPro hero 7 + DJI Phantom 4 advanced
Standing high on a narrow headland, Smoky Cape Lighthouse is surrounded by the stunning coastal scenery of Hat Head National Park. The lighthouse itself is as beautiful as the views.
Built in 1891, this heritage lighthouse is one of the last designed by the Colonial Architect, James Barnet. Smoky Cape headland was so named by Captain Cook after he saw Aboriginal fires burning there in 1770.

Smokey Cape Lighthouse
Smoky Cape Lighthouse is a heritage-listed active lighthouse located on Smoky Cape, a headland in Arakoon east of the town of South West Rocks on the mod north coast of NSW.
This aerial footage was shot using a DJI Spark drone.

Highlights of our trip to South West Rocks, New South Wales, Australia. A beautiful town on the Mid North Coast, one of our stops on the A Big Peachey Adventure lap of Australia.
This was my first attempt at using the DJI Mavic Pro to capture footage. Rather than get overwhelmed by all of the functions, except for the initial flyover this was filmed using the Active Track Point of Interest mode.
This was also my first attempt at using the native DJI GO 4 app editing software

A mid-winter (July '16) flight out over Fish Rock and back to Smoky Cape Lighthouse. Went 3.17 km out. Humpback whales were heading north, about 4km out. Chopper came past at eye level (photo isn't cropped). Music is Gilo 'Back to a Simpler Time

Tacking Point Lighthouse I 4K I Aerial cinematography
Tacking Point Lighthouse is Australia's third oldest lighthouse. It was built on a rocky headland about 8 kilometres south of Port Macquarie, NSW in 1879 by Shepherd and Mortley, to a design by the New South Wales Colonial Architect, James Barnet. It is operated by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority and is classified by the National Trust of Australia (NSW).
Tacking Point was named by explorer Matthew Flinders in 1802 during his 1802–1803 circumnavigation of Australia. Its nearest lighthouses are Smoky Cape Lighthouse at South West Rocks, to the north, and Crowdy Head Light, to the south.

Beached as Kangaroo, South West Rocks NSW
As we walked to the beach by the Rock Wall at Trial Bay Gaol in South West Rocks NSW we discovered a Kangaroo going for a swim. It jumped in the water before soon coming back out, shaking off and looking around.
It became apparent to us it wasn't swimming but trying to find its way out. It knew it came over rocks to get down from the beach but it was disorientated as to which rocks they were.
We tried to maneuver it in the right direction to get out but it ended up trying to climb up over the rocks which was open ocean the other side. It fell between the rocks and could have potentially badly injured itself but luckily it was able to struggle its way back out and down the rocks.
Watch the video to see how it unfolded and if he made it back to his family and the grassy fields it no doubt was looking for.
