Somoto Canyon (2019) Backpacking Nicaragua
In this episode we explore Somoto Canyon. The canyon is located a short distance from the town of Somoto located in northern Nicaragua and is one of Nicaragua's main tourist attractions.
We had a fabulous day with Somoto Canon Adventura Extrema and we wouldn't hesitate in recommending them for your trip.
They day in the Somoto Canyon included hiking, floating in a rubber ring, trip in a boat and if you want a horse ride.
We visited during the dry season so the water level was low, if you want more adventure, then make sure you visit in the wet season when the river will be much higher and faster.

Somoto Canyon with Two Guys Adventures
Somoto Canyon winds its way along the Nica/Honduras border, and is a series of beautiful switchback canyons with sheer cliff walls. I don't have the perfect pronunciation of course, and I'm realizing that more y más as I edit and hear myself speak, so I'll be helping myself with mi español as well as helping you with yours! I do try to keep the Spanish words at a semi-fast speed so that you can get used to the more native way of speaking and not the 'Spanish-teacher-in-the-classroom' way of speech.

How Somoto CALLED Us BACK
We've been to the town of Somoto in the north of Nicaragua before we started Vlogging to do the canyon tour some years back. Seeing the town with fresh eyes now, there's a whole lot more commerce going on and the streets are a lot busier.
We also saw the famous painted street for ourselves, got supplies from the market, chilled in our cabin in the canyon and lest we forget; went to the same bakery for our favorite local goodies TWICE during our stay there.

Canyon of Somoto
The is a short 2 minute video which documents a hiking and floating trip down the Cañón de Somoto (Canyon of Somoto) in Nicaragua. There were 7 others on the trip, some Spaniards and some Nicos (Nicaraguans).

In August 2014, a delegation of Sheffielders flew to Nicaragua to visit our twin town of Estelí. This video is a short montage of a day trip to the nearby Somoto Canyon, just one of the awesome things we were able to do and see across the two week visit.

CAÑON DE SOMOTO - NICARAGUA 2016
Somoto Canyon Nicaragua
Somoto Canyon is somehow a fairly new discovery in Nicaragua. Because of its newness, it has not been seen by many travelers. The canyon is about 3.5 hours from Managua by car in normal traffic. We took the longes tour. 6 hours. This turned out to be a mistake for me as a huge portion of the 6 hours turned out to be a hike where you are walking on bowling ball style rocks most of the time. They have 2 and 4 hour tours which might be more water and less hiking. The tours are cheap, but nobody with the tour spoke english so brush up on your Spanish!
