South Coast Botanic Garden Picnic
One fine Sunday we went for a picnic at the South Coast Botanic Garden on the Palos Verdes Peninsula in Los Angeles, California.
South Bay Tours - Spring at The Botanic Garden, Palos Verdes
As a member of the garden, my family enjoys many trips to the garden every year. This video was created with some of our favorite shots. Enjoy and stop on by the garden when you can. They only take cash at the entry gate. Admission is $8. for adults. Less for seniors and students.
Excerpt from the The South Coast Botanic Garden About Page:
The Jewel of the Peninsula, is located on the beautiful Palos Verdes Peninsula, located 10 miles south of the Los Angeles Airport in California. Conveniently located to many South Bay communities, this 87-acre Botanic Garden has more than 2,500 different species of plants from as far away as Australia, the Mediterranean, and southern Africa. The Garden is situated in Sunset's Zone 23, one of the most favored growing areas in the world. About 100 trees and shrubs are rare mature specimens, infrequently seen elsewhere. The wide variety of plant life provides food and shelter to an abundant wildlife and bird population, and over 200 species of birds are sighted annually. Popular features include a small lake, Mediterranean Garden, AARS Rose Garden, Water-Wise Garden, Garden for the Senses, Cactus Garden, Children's Garden, Fuchsia Garden, Dahlia Garden, Herb Garden, and Japanese Garden. There is an attractive Wedding Lawn and two Gazebos, Events Meadow, and Frances Young Auditorium available for events. There is a picnic area located outside of the Garden gates. Free abundant parking available.

SOUTH COAST BOTANIC GARDEN 2016 LEGO EXHIBIT
Located in Palos Verdes up in the hill near the Pacific, is a quiet secret of a gem...an 87 acre gem! The South Coast Botanic Garden is truly beautiful and is well deserving of what is considered some of the best arboretums and nature exhibit locations the planet.
The Morton Arboretum in Illinois is the only place with any comparison to me so far. Both sanctuaries are top tier preservations with highly skilled gardeners and caretakers. I am pleased to let you see some of what I was enchanted by on my birthday surprise trip.
Recorded in 4k with an almost customized free song, you will be sure to enjoy.
Anyone that has the opportunity should visit the South Coast Botanical Gardens!

The Peacocks of Palos Verdes
Peafowl first came to the Palos Verdes Peninsula almost a century ago when Palos Verdes founder Frank Vanderlip received 12 birds as a gift. Now, there are hundreds. The birds roam streets and roofs in the city of Rolling Hills Estates. Some residents love the peafowl and some wish the city would take more control.

Sunken city used to be a neighborhood right on the coast of San Pedro California. Soon after construction, a landslide brought all of the houses into the ocean, leaving only broken roads and pipes. It was abandoned in 1929 and now sits covered in graffiti and street art.
Getting to it required squeezing myself and my camera gear through a metal fence and hiking down unstable ground to where many of the ruins now stand. I have wanted to visit this place for quite a while now and was glad that when I did, I had my camera ready. If you are planning to go here, be warned: you are trespassing and can be fined or even arrested as the sign states. Explore at your own risk.
Thank you to my buddy Gino Silvestre for the song! You can check him out here:
This was mostly shot using an Opteka Steadyvid SV-HD stabilizer. I highly recommend this stabilizer to anyone looking to get steady shots on a tight budget. Learn more here:

Whale Watching at Point Vicente, Palos Verdes, California
The Point Vicente Interpretive Center is a So Cal whale resource. December/January is high season for Pacific whales to migrate north to south. During winter and spring migration, volunteers sit at the center watching for whales and recording their passage.
I recorded one whale as it surfaced several times close to the shore. It rounded a bend and continued its journey as the volunteers tracked the next southbounder. As a bonus, there were also pelicans, seagulls and dolphins hanging out in the area.
Check out the center's site to learn more about Point Vicente and the whale migration.

Palos Verdes Visit Feb 2015
Palos Verdes a place in California USA. This is one of the many beautiful places one cannot go without seeing it. A breath taking view and a wonderful creation of god, I tried to capture in this video. It is about 12 mails from Torrance city, I wished I stayed longer there because of its tranquility and grace. It was a just a different world altogether.

San Marino, California - Huntington Botanical Gardens North Vista / Camellias HD (2014)
The Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens (or The Huntington) is a collections-based educational and research institution established by Henry E. Huntington and located in San Marino, California, in the United States. In addition to the library, the institution houses an extensive art collection with a focus in 18th- and 19th-century European art and 17th- to mid-20th-century American art. The property also includes approximately 120 acres of specialized botanical gardens, most notably the Japanese Garden, the Desert Garden, and the Chinese Garden (Liu Fang Yuan).
The Desert Garden, one of the world's largest and oldest outdoor collections of cacti and other succulents, contains plants from extreme environments, many of which were acquired by Henry E. Huntington and William Hertrich (the garden curator). One of the Huntington's most botanically important gardens, the Desert Garden, brings together a plant group largely unknown and unappreciated in the beginning of the 1900s. Containing a broad category of xerophytes (aridity-adapted plants), the Desert Garden grew to preeminence and remains today among the world's finest, with more than 5,000 species.
