Lake Malta, Poznań, Greater Poland, Poland, Europe
Lake Malta, known also as the Maltański Reservoir, is an artificial lake in Poznań, Poland. It was formed in 1952 as a result of the damming of the Cybina River. It is about 2.2 km long, which makes the lake the biggest man-made lake of the city. The water is 3.1 m deep on average with a maximum about 5 m. There are a number of recreational attractions along the edge of the lake. The lake also has one of the oldest man-made rowing venues in Europe - The Malta Regatta Course. This dates back to 1952 and has held a number of Rowing World Cup events. It also hosted the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships in 1990 and 2001, and did so again in 2010. The lake also gives its name to the Malta theatre festival, held in Poznań annually in June, with some of the shows taking place next to the lake. The name of the lake comes from the Knights Hospitaller also known as Knights of Malta. The lake was built on land owned by Church of St. John of Jerusalem Outside the Walls, given to the order in 1187 by duke Mieszko III the Old. Because of the importance of the lake for the city of Poznań, various methods to improve its water quality have been investigated.

POLAND: WROCLAW: POPE JOHN PAUL II VISIT
Natural Sound
Pope John Paul the Second started an 11-day journey to his native Poland on Saturday with a visit to the city of Wroclaw.
On Sunday half a (m) million people are expected to visit the city to try to get a glimpse of the pontiff when he says mass at the close of an Eucharistic Congress.
A homecoming for Pope John Paul the Second.
The pontiff arrived in Warsaw on Saturday to begin his seventh visit to his native land as pope.
He then flew to Wroclaw where he made his first stop at the Gothic twin-spired St. John the Baptist Cathedral.
Inside the cathedral, where Poland's 115 bishops were assembled, delighted nuns reached out to touch John Paul as he walked down the centre aisle.
The pontiff then visited Wroclaw Town Hall where, watched, by Polish President Alexander Kwasniewski, he signed his name to loud applause.
The pope continued on to the International Eucharistic Congress, which has been in session all week.
The Congress has brought together all Christian denominations and the Pope's presence there was greeted with a standing ovation.
On Sunday, he'll say mass at the Congress' close.
Church officials say they expect half a (m) million people to visit the city to try and get a glimpse of him.
The trip will be one of the longest tours of his 19-year papacy; the pope plans to visit 12 cities in 11 days, including Poznan and Krakow.
But the Polish trip also takes in some nostalgia.
The pope will visit his parents' tomb, the Tatra mountains where he used to ski and the school where he secretly studied theology during the Nazi occupation.
John Paul said although he's now living far away in Italy he never ceases to feel like a child of Poland.

Poland: Kraków - Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a historic Roman Catholic church in Kraków, Poland; located at ul. Karmelicka 19 street in the Old Town. It is the city's first Carmelite Church, hence the name of the street on which it stands.
The Baroque facade of the church is based on the design of Il Gesù in Rome. On the south-side wall of the church, at the corner of ul. Garbarska, there is the 18th century sculpture representing Golgotha with its central Crucificion. The main altar depicts the Visitation of Saint Elizabeth by Virgin Mary, and is one of the largest examples of Baroque woodcarving in Kraków.

RR7906A THE POPE'S PILGRIMAGE TO MEXICO
RR7906A THE POPE'S PILGRIMAGE TO MEXICO
When Pope John Paul II made his first Papal journey
recently to South America, churchmen expected him
to hint either that the clergy should encourage the
fight for human rights through positive action or to
condemn it. In fact, his message was that God makes
no distinction whom he loves; the rich, the poor, the
powerful, the oppressed. It was a message that was
open to many interpretations and when the Pope left
for home, churchmen were still debating which
course to follow. One thing, though, was clear - the
impact the new Pope had made on his millions of
followers who turned out in unprecedented numbers
to show him the warmth of their feelings.

Palm Sunday in Łyse, Poland 2018 ( english) (4K)
Colorful Palm Sunday festive in Lyse , Poland.
25-03-2018
In Łyse ( Wesaa )there is an annual competition for the tallest and most beautiful palm.
In the Christian tradition, Palm Sunday is the last Sunday before Easter. It commemorates the day when Jesus rode into Jerusalem, and people greeted him by waving palm fronds and crying out 'Hosanna!'. A remembrance of that day is still practiced in most Christian faiths by bringing palm fronds to houses of worship.
But there is a slight problem. We do not have palm trees in Poland.
We do, however, have extremely rich folk traditions which date back to pre-Christian times, and which have largely survived in the Catholic custom. Such a tradition has evolved from the colourful Slavic decoration of twigs and branches in anticipation of Spring to the Christian weaving of palms.

STORYLINE:
Turkey's morning newspapers on Wednesday reported on Pope Benedict XVI's visit with a generally positive tone, as the Pontiff urged religious leaders not to support any form of violence in the name of faith.
He began his first visit to a Muslim country under tight security.
Benedict has sought a careful balance as he held out a hand of brotherhood to Muslims, hoping to end the outcry from many Muslims over his recent quoted remarks linking Islam to violence.
One resident in Ankara said it he thought the Pope's message was positive.
It is very good to have some calm between religions and this message should have been sent before, said Ali Tekin.
Pope Benedict XVI's convoy was seen leaving Ankara for Ephesus on Wednesday morning.
It is believed the Virgin Mary spent her last years there, near the Aegean town of Selcuk, after
St. John the Apostle brought her after Jesus' death.
The site is a place of pilgrimage for both Christians and Muslim Turks who consider the Virgin Mary, or Meryem Ana, the mother of the Prophet Isa, or Jesus.
Benedict will be the third pope to make a pilgrimage. Paul VI visited in 1967, and John Paul II came in 1979.
About 1,000 people are expected to attend Benedict's open-air mass outside the house that has been restored and turned into a chapel.
Later he will travel to Istanbul where more than 25,000 Turks showed up to an anti-Vatican protest on Sunday.
There is also the thorny issue of his visit Thursday to the Haghia Sophia museum, which was built in the 6th century as a Christian church but was converted to a mosque in 1453 when Islamic armies conquered the city.
Some groups have petitioned for it to be turned back into a mosque, and last week members of an Islamic radical group stormed the museum and prayed at the site, issuing a warning to the pope not to visit the building, even though it is scheduled to be one of his major stops in the city.

Poland: Total BAN on Sunday shopping Jan.1
Rome is pushing Poland into a prime position to stand as their beacon of Vatican contrived morality. On Thursday I posted a video about 1 million Polish Catholics praying the rosary in public so as to normalize it all as an acceptavle Christian ritual and today we find the Vatican pushing the Polish people this time into banning Sunday shopping as soon as January 1. And you're 100% correct; it's no coincidence the most recent saint to be canonized in the Vatican, namely Pope John Paul II was Polish; who by the way was in fact a Nazi war criminal who sold the gas to the Nazis to kill Jews and Christians. As Pope he declared in His Dios Domini that Sunday laws should be enforced worldwide. Now that he is dead and considered a saint the Vatican can use his religious fame to promote Sunday laws much easier to those that worship the Popes and their so called infallible dogma.
