Coronado Travel Guide | San Diego | California Travel Tips
California Travel guide Veronica Hill offers a tour of Coronado, San Diego, in this episode of California Travel Tips.
Founded in 1885 by Hampton Story and E.L. Babcock, Coronado sits on a peninsula just 5 miles from downtown San Diego.
If you're staying downtown, you can reach Coronado Island via the 2 1/2-mile long Coronado Bridge, or hop aboard the Coronado Ferry, which departs Broadway Pier nine times daily.
Start your visit at the Hotel Del Coronado, one of the world's most beautiful Victorian seaside resorts. Built in 1888, the Del remains one of the hottest vacation spots in California, complete with luxury vacation villas, gourmet dining and stunning ocean views.
The Coronado Historical Association offers walking tours of the Hotel Del and some of Coronado's famous buildings. Don't miss a peek at Wizard of Oz author L Frank Baum's home on Star Park Circle (1101 Star Park Circle), or the infamous Spreckels Mansion (1043 Ocean Blvd.), built by Hotel Del owner John Spreckels in 1907. President Clinton vacationed in the historic Crown Manor estate (1902), which overlooks Coronado Beach (1015 Ocean Blvd.). At 20,000 square feet, it's the largest home in Coronado!
Consistently named one of the best beaches in America, Coronado Beach is known for its gentle rolling waves and expanses of soft sand that are perfect for surfing, swimming and volleyball. In between sunbathing, you can head into Mootime Creamery for some hand-scooped gourmet ice cream, then come back at sunset for a signature Coronado Margarita at the Hotel Del Cabana Bar.
Coronado Village runs along Orange Avenue, a chic little shopping district that's packed with luxury boutiques, theaters and charming restaurants. It's a great place to ride your bike, linger over a frozen yogurt, or join a Coronado Segway Tour.
A few miles south, Silver Strand State Beach beckons visitors with its breezy winds that are perfect for kite surfing. For something more laid-back, the Gondola Company offers romantic sunset gondola rides in Coronado Cays.
As one of the most dog-friendly cities in California, Coronado has plenty of places to take your pup. You can let your run through the sand at Coronado Dog Beach, located at the end of Ocean Boulevard, or book a dog surfing lesson through Loews Coronado Bay Resort and the Coronado Surfing Academy. Every June, the hotel hosts its annual Coronado Surf Dog Competition, drawing thousands of spectators from around the state.

AJ's Toy Boarders
The Original AJ's Toy Boarders® is a simple toy that let's kids use their imagination. Toy Soldiers have been around for years, why promote war when we can let kids have positive toys that promote action sports instead of violence. They already get enough violence with todays video games.
Our roots are skate, surf, snow & bike. So when we design each rider we use real moves that would be used by todays riders. Each Artwork Figure is hand molded with attention to detail and style.
Any kid can enjoy these riders. They can make a skatepark out of anything around the house. take them with them wherever they go & use their imagination for hours of enjoyment. Stay tuned for more upcoming series.
We hope that you enjoy AJ's Toy Boarders®.
DYNASTY TOYS
What began in early 2013 as a small group of dreamers working out of a Yorba Linda, California garage, the company that would eventually become Dynasty Toys set out to make its mark on the toy scene.
With a purpose to serve and a drive to innovate, the team set out to discover the next generation of interactive action games.
We have always believed that parents are the heroes of the Dynasty story. Our purpose is to help families have fun together, while creating toys and games that keep kids active and give them a break from sitting in front of a screen.
In 2016 we spearheaded a paradigm shift in interactive games that led to the creation of an unrivaled laser tag experience. With the runaway success of our first line of vest-less laser tag toys, we have become known in thousands of households as leaders in bringing families together.
While we continue to develop great toys and games, our primary goal will remain the same - to unite families and to support the true heroes of the story...parents.
Second Wave of Storm Soaks San Diego County, Brings Thunderstorms and Flooding
San Diegans were trapped on flooded roadways, waded through waist-deep water and were forced to shut down businesses as a slow-moving storm dumped inches of rain on San Diego County Thursday.
By Friday morning, the storm was making its way out of the region, with few light showers expected throughout the day, but not before causing havoc during its two days in San Diego.
The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for the south-central part of the county until 9 p.m. Thursday that was then downgraded to a flash flood watch for the rest of the day.

The Cannabis Guide to San Diego
The oldest city in the California state, San Diego is widely known as “America’s Finest City” because of its amazing weather, beautiful sandy beaches, friendly people and a lot of other things!
San Diego is famous for another reason – it’s one of the most progressive cannabis cities in California. While marijuana is still classified as a schedule I substance under the federal law, you can use marijuana legally in San Diego for both medicinal or recreational purposes.
As per Proposition 64 passed by 56% of votes in favor on November 8, 2016, recreational marijuana has been legal in the whole of California since January 1st, 2018. Under legalization, weed sales in California are estimated to reach $7 billion a year in revenue by 2021, along with $1 billion taxes per year.
In September 2017, the San Diego City Council voted 6 to 3 to go all-in with it. They legalized marijuana cultivation, distribution, and retail sales making San Diego the center of a new “Green Rush” - a billion-dollar worth industry.
According to San Diego’s new cannabis law,
- You can purchase or carry up to 1 ounce (28.5 grams) of weed, or eight grams of concentrate such as hash, tincture, oil, etc. if you’re 21 years or older.
- You can grow up to six plants for personal use in a private property. You can’t sell without a license.
- You cannot smoke cannabis within 1,000 feet of a school, day care center, or youth center while people are present. For using cannabis publicly, you may encounter $100 -$250 fine.
- You can drive with cannabis if you keep it in a closed container or in your car’s trunk. The police may otherwise allege you for having an “Open Container”
- You are subject to DUI laws if you are found driving under the influence of cannabis.
- You can’t consume or possess cannabis on federal properties such as national parks or historical places even if it is in San Diego.
- Non-medical cannabis businesses are required to pay a 5% tax on monthly gross receipts which is scheduled to rise to 8% from July 1, 2019, unless the city council declares something else.
- Though it is legal under California state law, employers can prohibit the use of cannabis by their employees or can deny employment to a marijuana user. A medical cannabis card holder could be an exemption to this in certain cases.
If you love cannabis, then San Diego might just be the perfect city for you. Many cannabis enterprises are budding out here and the West Coast Cannabis Tours take you behind the scenes.
And all you need is a medical marijuana card in San Diego to buy the herb legally.
A glut of medical marijuana dispensaries in San Diego has appeared all over the city with the end of prohibition on the herb.
But remember, only stores with both state licenses and local permits can sell cannabis to customers. So, you better purchase from CUP licensed marijuana outlets to avoid any subtle legal issue.

Balboa Park San Diego California
If You Decided To Skip This Video I Will understand. I Feel like This Was A Boring Trip To Balboa Park, For A Few Reasons. 1. The Place Was Jam Packed With School Kids. 2. Each Museum Charges An Entry Fee. I Personally Don't Want to Spend $50+ At Each Museum Just To Turn Around and Leave Because Of A Bunch Of Small School Children. After Leaving The Park We Went To Find Some Authentic Mexican Food. So Stay Tuned For That. xoxo
