SUMMARY
=======
Cincinnati ( SIN-sih-NAT-ee) is a major city in the U.S. state of Ohio, and is the government seat of Hamilton County. Settled in 1788, the city is located at the northern side of the confluence of the Licking and Ohio rivers, the latter of which marks the state line with Kentucky. The city drives the Cincinnati–Middletown–Wilmington combined statistical area, which had a population of 2,172,191 in the 2010 census making it Ohio's largest metropolitan area. With a population of 296,943, Cincinnati is the third-largest city in Ohio and 65th in the United States. Its metropolitan area is the fastest growing economic power in the Midwestern United States based on increase of economic output and it is the 28th-largest metropolitan statistical area in the U.S. Cincinnati is also within a day's drive of 49.70% of the United States populace. In the nineteenth century, Cincinnati was an American boomtown in the middle of the country. Throughout much of the 19th century, it was listed among the top 10 U.S. cities by population, surpassed only by New Orleans and the older, established settlements of the United States eastern seaboard, as well as being the sixth-biggest city for a period spanning 1840 until 1860. As Cincinnati was the first city founded after the American Revolution, as well as the first major inland city in the country, it is regarded as the first purely American city.Cincinnati developed with fewer immigrants and less influence from Europe than East Coast cities in the same period. However, it received a significant number of German immigrants, who founded many of the city's cultural institutions. By the end of the 19th century, with the shift from steamboats to railroads drawing off freight shipping, trade patterns had altered and Cincinnati's growth slowed considerably. The city was surpassed in population by other inland cities, particularly Chicago, which developed based on strong commodity exploitation, economics, and the railroads, and St. Louis, which for decades after the Civil War served as the gateway to westward migration.
Cincinnati is home to three major sports teams: the Cincinnati Reds of Major League Baseball; the Cincinnati Bengals of the National Football League; and FC Cincinnati of Major League Soccer. The city's largest institution of higher education, the University of Cincinnati, was founded in 1819 as a municipal college and is now ranked as one of the 50 largest in the United States. Cincinnati is home to historic architecture with many structures in the urban core having remained intact for 200 years. In the late 1800s, Cincinnati was commonly referred to as the Paris of America, due mainly to such ambitious architectural projects as the Music Hall, Cincinnatian Hotel, and Shillito Department Store. Cincinnati is the birthplace of William Howard Taft, the 27th President of the United States.

Cincinnati gears up for a star studded weekend
CINCINNATI (Brad Underwood) -- Cincinnati will be the host to a star studded week of performances.
It seems like everywhere Grammy winners are performing. Bruno Mars rocked out at US Bank Arena Friday Night. Saturday, Beyonce and Jay Z will take the field at Great American Ball Park for their On the Run Tour. Sunday, country music superstar Tim McGraw will be at Riverbend. And over at PNC Pavilion fans lined up before noon to get into Friday night's Fifth Harmony Show.
In the parking lot of PNC Pavilion, the girls from Troop 41381 warmed up their voices as they got ready to see one of their favorites, Fifth Harmony. The girls aren't alone, they brought their moms along for the fun.
Tina Worley, one of the girls' mother, said, We were very concerned about safety actually so we are all wearing our green troop shirts to make sure. Extra moms bought tickets, we're not a one to one ratio like we typically are but we are close to it.
Downtown set up continued Friday night at Great American Ball Park for the On The Run Tour with Beyonce and Jay Z. High above GABP, the stage was built and many of the seats were already ready for fans. Even fans all the way from Brazil, studying in the United States, said they couldn't pass up this weekend of music in Cincinnati.
Music fan Natalia Brandao said, This kind of music is so famous in Brazil. When we are here we are looking all the time for good concerts to go. We found this and we could not miss this concert.
Over at PNC the weekend will conclude with Phillip Phillips and OAR, plus a show with Tim McGraw.
Ziggy Marley will also playing Saturday at the Taft Theatre. And on top of all that, the Quaker State 400 is Saturday night at the Kentucky Speedway.

The Public Premiere: Movie shot in Cincinnati focuses on homelessness
CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Movies filming in Cincinnati is old news, but the latest Red Carpet premiere takes a hard look at a real-life problem in the Tri-State.
Emilio Estevez wrote and directed “The Public,” which was filmed at the main library in downtown Cincinnati and takes place in the city too. In front of hundreds outside the Taft Theatre, Estevez expressed his feelings about the city.
It's amazing. I love it here. I feel at home here,” said Estevez.
The film opens nationwide next week, but Cincinnati got a sneak peek on a night Kristen Schlotman, the executive director of Film Cincinnati and co-producer of the film, is proud of.
This film was originally written for Los Angeles and was going to take place at the LA County Library. He re-wrote it to Cincinnati because I would not let him leave this town without making a film here. But this is a problem that's across the United States,” said Schlotman.
In the summer of 2018, the homeless camps along Third Street made headlines. Close to 100 men and women lived in tents. The camps moved a few times and were even banned by a judge in Hamilton County. The winter prior, a homeless man was found dead outside the main library on a bench.
A similar story plays out in the film, and in the dead of winter, the homeless take control of the downtown library, using it as a shelter and sparking a standoff with police.
When we have over half-a-million-people struggling with homelessness in this country, 25 percent are vets, 25 percent are children, that's not acceptable. I'm not OK with it, and no one in America should be,” said Estevez.
A small group in attendance at the premiere feels the same as Estevez. Some of them used to live on the street. Some of them still do as they wait for permanent housing.
It's like mine is never coming. I keep hearing it is. It hasn't; not yet. I've done lived with people, moved out, now I'm back on the street,” said Miranda, who remains homeless.
Those who work with the homeless say you might not see them as much, but not much has changed.
You gonna to help people, help people,” said Bison Evans. “Don't act like you're going to help and don't. Help people. Now, I'm on my feet, and I'm still helping people because do you know why? Because I care about people.
The film is not a documentary about homelessness; it’s a film for entertainment. However, those close to the project hope that people come away from the movie with more compassion and wanting to do something to help end homelessness.
What I think we are seeing is that the film is furthering the conversation or starting the conversation for those who are not yet it in,” said Estevez.
A portion of the ticket sales and donations will go to help organizations working with the homeless.
