Travelvlog Japan & Zuid-Korea: Kyoto
Onze derde bestemming is Kyoto. Met zijn mooie tempels en rijke geschiedenis is dit de culturele hoofdstad van Japan. Echter heeft Kyoto ook een moderne binnenstad en bevindt het eeuwenoude tempelcomplex Nara er niet ver vandaan.
Kyoto's Stairway to Shopping Madness
This is SANENZAKA or the third stair incline on the way to or from KIYOMIZUDERA TEMPLE. It's also a shopping street amusement park these days.
I got stopped by a lot of high school students visiting Kyoto on school trips. Thank you to them for making this live stream, so much more interesting :)

Kyoto International Manga Museum: Where to read manga all day
Japan Anime Market have recently opened a shop inside the Kyoto International Manga Museum in Kyoto. Our reporter Hisayo is on the trail to show you what's available and also provide a guide throughout the museum.

The Kyoto International Manga Museum was founded as a joint project of Kyoto City and Kyoto Seika University to collect, preserve, and exhibit manga materials, and conduct research into manga culture, for the purpose of holding exhibitions and events based on the research of these manga materials which are attracting attention from around the world.
This museum is a new kind of cultural facility that concurrently performs library functions and museum functions. Manga materials preserved in the museum's collection consist of approximately 300,000 items (as of 2016); from caricature woodblock prints of the Edo period (18th century), to magazines of the latter half of the 19th century and the pre-war time; as well as books ranging from post-war rental books to modern popular series and publications from abroad.
The results of ongoing research based on these materials are made public through exhibitions, seminars, and workshops held by the museum.
The museum is housed in the Showa era building of the former Tatsuike Elementary School, preserving its historical appearance, and thus representing the role that the school has played as a longtime symbol of the region.

The Tokyo Kimono Show
The Tokyo Kimono Show is Japan’s biggest kimono event held annually during Golden Week. In order to get familiar with this traditional attire and to spread its culture, different types of kimono are on display, which you can also purchase. Look forward to several workshops and an introduction to kimono related traditional customs.

With a history of almost three centuries, this festival hosts Japan's greatest float parade.
The event takes place in downtown Hachinohe over five days starting on July 31.
Our crew of Ellen from China and Wade from the US visited to give their report.
They enjoyed the festive decorations and intricate shape-changing floats.

Crude Karate Kyoto
Actors Alberta Milan, Justin Hurtt-Dunkley, and Roshni Rathore in karate scenes from FANNY FLY AND THE ALIENS ON HIGH. See the whole movie here:
An experiment in the absurd, this comedy satire, which crosses the rules of narrative construction, inquires into subtler events surrounding extraterrestrial activity. Bits of spectacle and fantasy mix with plain silliness to help us see aliens in a new light. --David A. Castro
Approximately 2 1/2 years in the making, it is an original story created by David A. Castro, of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, New York City, U.S.A.
Enjoy.

A trip to remember!
[31 Oct 2016 - 6 Nov 2016]
This trip is made possible thanks to aunty Irene, Aunty Jasmine, Qing Xiong and his peeps. It's a fantastic journey that makes me fell in love with Japan, the culture, the food and was really impressed by their courteous attitude. November is an amazing time to visit Japan as I get to experience autumn season, tho the chilling weather that gotten me frostbite on the fingers, that was totally worthwhile.

Taiko drum class at the Taiko Institute in Torrance
There are times when many of us dread exercising. We look at it as a chore rather than a fun approach to staying healthy. That’s why more people are looking for unique ways to get the heart pumping and muscles toned. Drumming, both traditional and modern, is catching on as a workout for the mind, body and soul. CCTV America’s May Lee tried out some classes where you can literally pound away the pounds.
