Pearl Brewery -- Texas Transportation Co. No. 1, San Antonio, Texas
A short Super-8mm film clip that I took on September 3rd, 1980. With me were a good friend and Missouri Pacific Locomotive Engineer Joe Covert and his wife Diane. The action took place in the area around the Pearl Beer Brewery (San Antonio Brewing Association) and Southern Pacific Railroad's East Yard. The highlight was getting some footage of electric locomotive Texas Transportation Company No. 1, which was built by Baldwin and Westinghouse in December, 1917, as Monongahela-West Penn 2000. This railroad later became the City Lines of West Virginia in 1943 when the power operation and the traction operation were separated. After abandonment in 1947 the locomotive was then sold to the Kansas City Kaw Valley RR as their 504 in April, 1948. When the Kaw Valley was abandoned in 1953, the locomotive came to San Antonio and was renumbered 1.
The film opens with me filming Joe Covert, (who unfortunately, passed away July 12th, 2005) who protests that I am wasting film on him. Later you can see Joe's wife, Diane, waving me on to hurry on into the gates to continue filming No. 1 and crew switching.
In is interesting to note the operation of a submarine switch, and also the obvious safety violations such as using the footboard on the forward end of the locomotive to retrieve a red flag, crossing very close in front of equipment moving and a few other things that don't meet up to modern safe work practices. Apparently, they got the job done on a daily basis OK!!!

Texas Transportation Museum visit 1/20/18 (Timestamps in Description)
This is the second time I've been to the Texas Transportation Museum, this time for my birthday, and I had a great time. Last time I went was around Halloween, so it was nice to see things in their default state, without decorations, and also the progress made on the #1 steam locomotive, among other things. It's running, but just needs a little bit more work before it can be returned to regular active service!
Here are some timestamps of the various things at the museum I got to look at on this trip. Lack of audio between 1:11 and 6:22 is intentional.

Amtrak Exhibit Train Vists The Museum Of American Railroad, Frisco Texas
On September 24th 2016, The Amtrak Exhibit Train visited North Texas this year on a hot afternoon in The Museum Of American Railroad, Frisco Texas. I only went this day since I live about an hour away. While I was enjoying seeing the Amtrak Exhibit Train, I was feeling happy at the same time because I got to see my very first Amtrak Heritage Unit 406 Phase 3 NPCU and the Amtrak 156 Phase I Heritage.
Something that we don't normally see everyday here in North Texas is that Amtrak doesn't run any trains at all here by the BNSF Madill Sub.
Feel free to pause any part of the video to read the information inside of the Exhibit Train. Like, comment and subscribe!
Thanks for watching!

Here is a little compilation I whipped up the other day of most of the sounds you hear at the Texas Transportation Museum
Top Motorcycle Museum The Haas Motorcycle Museum Dallas Texas
Top Motorcycle Museum in the United States. The Haas Motorcycle Museum Dallas Texas.
Motorcycling is a passion that exerts an intoxicating grip on any soul it touches. But you need not twist a throttle or feel the road below to experience the passion or feel the raw escape. Just walk through the expansive portal of The Haas Moto Museum, and you will instantly feel its grip.
The sheer expanse of The Haas Collection, with over 180 cycles spanning 12 decades, housed in the Museum and the adjacent Dragon Gallery, is a joyous revival of a cultural phenomenon that continues to evolve to this day. From the time when a crude gas tank was first strapped onto a bicycle frame to the creation of radical new designs that push the outer limits of the imagination, The Haas Collection has no equal anywhere, with its seemingly endless array of truly unique cycles embedded in two venues of unparalleled beauty.
Not only does the Collection immerse you in the evolution of cycles from 1901 to the present day, it unveils an unparalleled collection of 29 one-of-a-kind cycles—a dazzling testament to the Renaissance notion of inventors creating art for the sake of art, with no blueprint or predecessor to guide their hands.
Step into a world where the fantasy of limitless speed blends with the reality of mechanized motion, where the cycles are elevated on custom platforms and surrounded by one-off metallic sculptures that enliven the total experience.
And when you experience this gem of a Collection, the word connectivity will no longer mean what it did when you entered. It will not refer to emails or texts—it will instead bring to mind generations of escape artists connected only to the ribbon of road that unraveled beneath their feet and the wind and the scenery that were their constant companions.

Arrival of the Texas Locomotive at the N.C. Transportation Museum
The 1856 W&ARR #49, the Texas has arrived! This Civil War-era steam locomotive has an amazing history and had just made an amazing journey. From her home at Grant Park in Atlanta to the N.C. Transportation Museum in Spencer, it was a long haul.
This winner of the Great Locomotive Chase of 1862 will reside at the museum through most of 2016, undergoing historical research and restoration work by Scott Lindsay's Steam Operations Corporation.
Check out what it took to unload one of Atlanta's treasures and put her back on the tracks! In late 2016, she'll be headed to a new home at the Atlanta History Center's Buckhead Campus.
