Built in 1905, The PumpHouse was originally a water pumping station. It housed a furnace which energised an enormous pump, that shifted water from the lake to the early settlers of Devonport. In 1983 it was listed as a Category II Historic Building under the protection of The New Zealand Historic Places Trust.
When the Waitakere Ranges became the source of Auckland’s water, The PumpHouse was decommissioned and gradually fell into disrepair. Its identity as a theatre is the legacy of a local community of art lovers and history buffs who in the late 1960s, rescued the buildings from demolition and raised the funds for restoration and conversion into a theatre. This group of locals coalesced to form the North Shore Theatre & Arts Trust which still administers The PumpHouse today.
The PumpHouse operates as a programmed venue for hire for the performing arts. It presents a diverse range of theatre, from plays, musicals, dance, traditional outdoor Summer Shakespeare, stand-up comedy and concerts to psychic mediums, book launches, poetry and play readings.

Auckland Ethnic Council every year organises multicultural show which attracts thousands. Last couple of years I performed there and now it's time for Nawshi to take my place. She did very well and you can see it in the VDO. This is a very popular folk song of Bangladesh. It's called Nati Ghati Bela Galo.

This show went down at the end of February at the Pumphouse in Takapuna on Auckland, New Zealand's, North Shore. It was an awesome event attended by some dedicated appreciators of the artists on show. It was a small crowd but full of people I care about. So that's better than a theatre full of people that aren't so nice haha :) Thanks to all the artists for being involved.

Shakespeare’s epic exploration of war, brotherhood, and what a man will sacrifice to become one of history’s greatest leaders, is given a transformative touch by leading producers SHAKEITUP! and Sharu Loves Hats. Turning the Shakespearean tradition of all-male casts on its head and presenting a new and contemporary vision, this innovative version of a traditionally testosterone-driven Henry V features a massive 40-strong all-woman cast of our finest female talent. Henry V, 26-year-old King of England, leads his rag-tag army on a bloody adventure in France.In Shakespeare’s theatrical masterpiece the audience is transported from the intimate intrigues and politics of royal courts to epic battles between mighty armies, following a young King destined to carry the weight of two countries on his shoulders as he secures the future of both – and in so doing, comes of age.
