he Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Connection (AWMC), originally the Wesleyan Methodist Church (Allegheny Conference), and also known as the Wesleyan Methodist Church, is a Methodist denomination within the conservative holiness movement primarily based in the United States, with missions in Peru, Ghana, and Haiti.
The movement which would become Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Connection began in the mid-18th century within the Church of England. A small group of students, including John Wesley, Charles Wesley and George Whitefield, met on the Oxford University campus. They focused on Bible study, methodical study of scripture and living a holy life. Other students mocked them, saying they were the Holy Club and the Methodists, being methodical and exceptionally detailed in their Bible study, opinions and disciplined lifestyle. Eventually, the so-called Methodists started individual societies or classes for members of the Church of England who wanted to live a more religious life.
In 1735, John and Charles Wesley went to America, hoping to teach the gospel to the American Indians in the colony of Georgia. Instead, John became vicar of the church in Savannah. His preaching was very legalistic and full of harsh rules, and the congregation rejected him. After two years in America, he returned to England dejected and confused. On his journey to America, he had been very impressed with the faith of the German Moravians on board, and when he returned to England he spent time with a German Moravian who was passing through England, Peter Böhler. Peter believed a person is saved solely through the grace of God and not by works, and John had many conversations with Peter about this topic. On May 25, 1738, after listening to a reading of Martin Luther's preface to Romans, John came to the understanding that his good works could not save him and he could rest in God's grace for salvation. For the first time in his life, he felt complete peace and the assurance of salvation. In less than two years, the Holy Club disbanded. John Wesley met with a group of clergy. He said they appeared to be of one heart, as well as of one judgment, resolved to be Bible-Christians at all events; and, wherever they were, to preach with all their might plain, old, Bible Christianity. The ministers retained their membership in the Church of England. Though not always emphasized or appreciated in the Anglican churches of their day, their teaching emphasized salvation by God's grace, acquired through faith in Christ. Three teachings they saw as the foundation of Christian faith were:

They are justified by faith alone.
Faith produces inward and outward holiness.

“Didn’t Our Hearts Burn Within Us” was recorded on May 6, 2014. Fr. Tom reads and comments on the resurrection appearances of Jesus depicted in Luke chapter 24. Two disciples, deeply discouraged because Jesus had been executed, were leaving Jerusalem for Emmaus when Jesus came up to them and walked along beside them. But they didn’t recognize him. He told them how the scriptures testified that the messiah must suffer and die and then be raised from the dead on the third day. He stayed with them for dinner and then blessed the bread and broke it. Suddenly their eyes were opened, and they recognized him. We don’t have to stay discouraged. Jesus is alive and is still doing wonders, signs, and miracles today.

Father Tom DiLorenzo was born in East Boston, Massachusetts in 1946. He graduated from Salem State College, Salem Ma. in 1968, and was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Boston by Humberto Cardinal Medeiros in 1979. He has served as a parochial vicar at Sacred Heart Church, Quincy, Ma and at St. Adelaide's Church, Peabody, Ma. He is currently the Administrator of Holy Rosary Church in Winthrop, just outside Boston.
Father Tom has been active in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal for over four decades, and has preached at countless conferences and prayer meetings. In 1984 he began In Season and Out of Season, a Catholic, evangelical, bible-based outreach on radio. His program is now heard on over 15 radio stations across the U.S. In addition to his radio outreach Fr. Tom is also seen on over 40 local Cable TV broadcasts weekly in the New England area.
Fr. Tom has a great love for the Church and has made the enhancement of spirituality of the parish life at Holy Rosary a priority in his ministry.

A Wealth of Funds, A Lack of Information: Sex-Education in Florida
SIECUS, the Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States, has just released a shocking report investigating where and how the millions in federal funding for abstinence education in Florida is spent each year. Too much of this money, the report finds, is used to fund programs that use medically inaccurate scare tactics to teach abstinence in Florida's public schools. The report discovers that much of the funding also goes to crisis pregnancy centers - pseudo health clinics leading the Crusade against abortion. And in spite of it all, many schools still do not offer sex-education to students, let alone require it. What will it take to teach teens the facts they need to protect themselves in Florida, the state with the 2nd highest HIV transmission rate in the country?

St Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church West Melbourne, Australia
St Mary Star of the Sea is one of the most beautiful and historically significant churches in Australia. Originally with seating for over 1200 people, it has been described as the largest parish church in Melbourne, in Victoria, or even in Australia.
On 30 September 1852, only a few weeks after land allotments in North Melbourne became available, Very Rev Patrick Geoghegan OSF, Melbourne's first Vicar General, secured two acres, on the highest point within the block formed by Victoria, William and Chetwynd streets. A foundation stone was laid two years later, on 14 May 1854, and within six months a modest cruciform stone church was erected. Melbourne's port lay in the church's shadow, and so the church was dedicated to Our Lady, Star of the Sea, patroness of seafarers. Priests from St Francis', Melbourne's proto-cathedral, served the mission.
The Victorian Gold Rush fuelled a population explosion which contributed to a rapidly increasing Catholic congregation. On 28 July 1862, Rev Simon Riordan chaired a public meeting which resolved to erect an entirely new church to serve North and West Melbourne. A scarcity of funds forced an alternative: two additional transepts should be added to the existing building. Construction was delayed, however, by a good nine years. In 1871, a new transept increased the capacity of the church to 500.
Two years later, in 1873, St Mary Star of the Sea became a parish. Rev Henry England, West Melbourne's long-standing locum, was appointed first parish priest. In 1875, Archbishop Goold visited the parish, and informed priest and parishioners that the building was not adequate for divine worship. In response, a second transept was added and the interior renovated.
The communion rails were preserved, and the forward altar was only a temporary wooden structure.
By the turn of the century, the external fabric of St Mary's was in a very bad state. Its interior was gloomy and in a state of synthetic disrepair. In 2001, Archbishop George Pell entrusted the parish to the priests of Opus Dei, a personal prelature of the Catholic Church.
In 2002 the parish priest, Rev Dr Joseph Martins, launched a $10 million restoration project, which is ongoing. Thomas Hazell AO, an experienced public servant and committed restorationist, headed the project. Dennis Payne, the chief architect, led a specialist team widely recognised for expertise in heritage buildings and places of worship. George Giannis, the chief restorer, set about not only restoring past grandeur, but added details which were envisaged but never realised in the initial construction.
Faithful restoration, by way of example, includes the recreation of gold stencil work in the sanctuary. Some of the stencils relate directly to Eugène Viollet-le-Duc's restorations at the Cathedral of Notre Dame de Paris, whilst others derive from Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin's designs for the Houses of Parliament at Westminster. Giannis' team has also recovered the original brilliance of the magnificent images of St Gabriel and St Michael which overlook the high altar. But he has also painted and fixed a depiction of Christ Pantocrator, which was intended to adorn the arch separating the nave and chancel. Similarly, fibre-glass angels now stand in the niches high in the church ceiling, in place of carved timber angels which were planned in the 1890s, but never commissioned.
To enable Mass to be offered by the priest facing the congregation, construction of a permanent marble Altar coram populum accompanied the restoration project. The altar was designed by Rev Victor Martinez, a professional architect and priest of Opus Dei. It accords with the design, but does not compete with the monumentality, of the magnificent high altar which dominates the sanctuary. Its constituent two tonnes of marble required extra reinforcement to the crypt beneath the sanctuary. The restoration of the interior is largely complete.
Several trade unions and building suppliers very generously donated labour and equipment. Most of the sum raised for the restoration financed the replacement of the decayed sand and limestone of the external walls. Over 250 tonnes of replacement stone was used on the north and east facades. Exterior work on the west and south facades is still outstanding. The global financial crisis has impacted fund-raising, and work has ground to a halt. Scaffolding remains however, and it is hoped that the restoration project can be completed, despite an economic environment similar to the one which slowed, but did not prevent, initial construction.

Savannah: Culture, History and Southern Charm

Savannah is the oldest city in Georgia, filled with historic gems, fantastic restaurants and a warm and friendly atmosphere that will definitely leave a mark on any visitor. On my recent holiday there, I also discovered the city is very walkable, with 22 park-like squares to explore and enjoy. Surrounded by historic architecture and moss-draped trees, I quickly became enchanted by this iconic Southern city.
Picturesque Parks and Nature
Forsyth Park, one of Savannah’s most well-known parks, is the perfect place to relax, picnic or sunbathe. Take a stroll along the walkways dripping with Spanish moss or sit on park benches in front of beautiful fountains and statues, including the bronze soldier that commemorates the men who fought on behalf of the southern Confederacy during the American Civil War. The Band Shell, a music venue, hosts bands and events, so keep an eye out for performances throughout the year.
With so many squares and pedestrian-friendly streets, Savannah offers lots of outdoor sightseeing. Taking one of the many tours – by trolley, riverboat, walking and even horse and carriage – is an ideal way to explore the area.
Savannah was founded by British General James Oglethorpe in 1733. He designed the city on four open squares, allowing for easy city expansion. A bronze statue of the founder himself, stands in one of the main squares, called Chippewa. This was also the location for the famous park bench scenes in the film Forest Gump.
History Preserved at Davenport House
One of the wonderful things about Savannah is how many historic buildings still exist; there is a nice contrast between old and new, found all over the city. At the 1820 Federal-style Davenport house, you will find a beautiful example of what makes Savannah so special. The house was threatened with destruction in 1955 at a time when several of the older buildings in the area had already been torn down. Upon seeing this, a group of women decided to take a stand and protect the building from being demolished. They succeeded, and the saving of Davenport House launched the preservation of many others. The group grew and became the Historic Savannah Foundation, and, in 1966, Savannah’s historic downtown was listed on the National Register as a National Landmark.

Savannah offers many amazing restaurants that I was lucky enough to visit: from riverfront dining to a pirate-themed restaurant in the oldest house in Savannah. For Southern fare, try the warm and welcoming The Lady and Sons. Fried chicken, cornmeal hoe cakes and okra are some must-try specialties.
Cobblestone River Street along the riverfront is lined with restaurants, cute shops and fun bars – where you can always find something to do. Caricature and balloon artists set up shop here too, always ready to put a smile on someone’s face.
Whatever you’re looking for, whether its live music, karaoke, museums, dance or even theater, Savannah truly has it all. A fun, vibrant city with lots to see and do, Savannah has a warm and welcoming atmosphere, friendly people and stunning architecture.

John Wesley: The Man Who Saved England
Today we often focus on economic and military power as the way that we can save nations. But one man did it by bringing about spiritual revival. By calling people back to true religion, he is “The Man Who Saved England.” He almost certainly changed the course of history. He transformed his nation. But first, he had to be transformed himself. And his call to personal and social holiness still challenges Christians today.

Green Grow the Rushes, O (alternatively Ho or Oh) (also known as The Twelve Prophets, The Carol of the Twelve Numbers, The Teaching Song, The Dilly Song, or The Ten Commandments), is an English folk song (Roud #133) popular across the English-speaking world. It is sometimes sung as a Christmas carol.
The song is not to be confused with Robert Burns's similarly titled Green Grow the Rashes nor with the Altan song of the same name. It is cumulative in structure, with each verse built up from the previous one by appending a new stanza. The first verse is:

The United Methodist Church (UMC) is a mainline Protestant denomination and a major part of Methodism. In the 19th century, its main predecessor, the Methodist Episcopal Church, was a leader in evangelicalism. The present denomination was founded in 1968 in Dallas, Texas, by union of The Methodist Church and the Evangelical United Brethren Church. The UMC traces its roots back to the revival movement of John and Charles Wesley in England, as well as the Great Awakening in the United States. As such, the church's theological orientation is decidedly Wesleyan. It embraces both liturgical and evangelical elements.The United Methodist Church has a connectional polity, a typical feature of a number of Methodist denominations. It is organized into conferences. The highest level is called the General Conference and is the only organization which may speak officially for the UMC. The church is a member of the World Council of Churches, the World Methodist Council, and other religious associations.
With at least 12 million members as of 2014, the UMC is the largest denomination within the wider Methodist movement of approximately 80 million people across the world. In the United States, the UMC ranks as the largest mainline Protestant denomination, the largest Protestant church after the Southern Baptist Convention, and the third largest Christian denomination. In 2014, its worldwide membership was distributed as follows: 7 million in the United States, and 4.4 million in Africa, Asia and Europe. In 2015, Pew Research estimated that 3.6 percent of the US population, or 9 million adult adherents, self-identify with the United Methodist Church revealing a much larger number of adherents than registered membership.

This is a yemenite shofar which represents the rams horn that is the trumpet that is specifically mentioned in scripture.
2 Samuel 2:28 So Joab blew a shofar, and all the people stood still, and pursued after Israel no more, neither fought they any more.
There are some people who believe that only the ram's horn is to be used as that is the one specific horn that is mentioned. I sound a yemenite shofar and on 2 occasions witnessed the immediate halting of fighting. On both occasions, the fighting was verbal but in one of the instances one person was aggressively pursuing another person while shouting at them. In this instance I heard the shouting and then saw one person rapidly pursuing another person who was quickly walking away. I was with 2 of my brothers and said watch this, I said a prayer In Jesus Name and blasted 3 sharp blasts straight upwards. At the sound of the Yemenite shofar this person immediately turned around 180 degrees (in a horseshoe shape never breaking their rapid stride) and immediately stopped yelling. The 2 other guys that also sound shofars witnessed this. To God be all the glory. I do not have any doubts that the yemenite shofar functions much as the ram's horn and the hammered silver trumpet referred to in Numbers 10. The Father is sovereign and the halting of evil is determined by Him rather than the trumpet sounder... certainly this is a richer topic than I can correctly cover in this format. My faith has increased as I have experienced how God's word is true, perfect and forever faithful. I don't have a wishy washy testimony. God's word is true. Jesus / Yeshuah is The Word. He HAS overcome this world... ALL of it. He is The King of kings and Lord of lords. Follow Him !
Some people may say that my experiences in seeing the shofar halt evil is not related to 2 Samuel 2:28. I am fully persuaded that it is an example of the verse cited (as well as Nehemiah 4:20) but don't take my word for it, let The Holy Spirit and The Bible be your guide in all things. As you follow Jesus according to Matthew 6:33, you shall certainly have greater testimonies than this. Perhaps your ministry is praise and worship or prayer or evangelism or one person that no one else can reach the way that you can.
