Amazing history attached to this place. Detroit's Michigan Theater opened in 1926 and I'm sure it was an amazing site in it's heyday.

NOVI WELCOMES METRO DETROIT'S LARGEST ANTIQUE VINTAGE SHOW
For the 6th year in a row, over 80 antique and vintage dealers, repair services, buyers and appraisers will gather at the Suburban Collection Showplace on May 11th and 12th to buy and sell furniture, jewelry, clothing, housewares and more at the Novi Antiques Market show.
This year we have expanded the show to include the Miss Novi Pinup Girl contest. Contestants will show off their 40s and 50s vintage style on Saturday, May 12th, said event coordinator, Cecily Near of Grand Events LLC. Contestants will be judged on their ability to embody the glamour and class of such iconic figures as, Marilyn Monroe and Betty Grable.
The antique market will take place Friday at the Suburban Collection Showplace from 10:00 a.m. -- 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with the Miss Novi Pinup Girl Contest at 1:00 p.m. The market will showcase the latest home and fashion trends in vintage, antique, and eclectic goods.
Lots of people wonder how much some of the antiques are worth that they have sitting around the house. Now is the perfect time to bring them in and have them appraised. Because of their uniqueness many people opt to incorporate vintage antiques into their living spaces. Whether it is something handed down through generations or found at an antique show many homeowners make antiquing a hobby in order to add personal flair to their homes, said Near.

THIS NEW CAR WAS LYING UNDERGROUND 50 YEARS
Imagine winning a free, all original, 1957 Plymouth Belvedere classic car with only 4 miles on the odometer that is interwoven with the local culture and heritage. Sounds amazing right? Ok here's the catch, the car doesn't run, is held together only by rust and mud, and has spent the last 50 years buried in a waterlogged concrete vault. Who put it there and why? Let's find out.

Place Presents: A Postcard Of Detroit
Detroit is a city in the state of Michigan, which is a place in the midwest of the United States. At one point in time, a lot of cars were being built there, hence the name Motor City. After the decline of the motor industry, the city emptied out but somehow the music scene remained. Just google Detroit Musicians and take a moment to scroll through one of the most defining lists of musicians you’ll ever come across. Stevie Wonder, J Dilla, Theo Parrish, Aaliyah, George Clinton, and Eminem just to name a few. The City has some kind of rhythm to it and our friends from Berlin, Hanover & San Francisco felt a lust to bust some moves.
Featuring: Harrison Hafner, Tjark Thielker, Alex O'Donohoe, Nils Brauer & Friedjof Feye.

Why Didn't Chewbacca Get a Medal in Star Wars a New Hope
In this video:
In 1980 America, the Cold War was still very much hot, Ronald Reagan was elected President, and the United States’ Olympic hockey team shockingly upset the USSR in what would be dubbed “The Miracle on Ice.” Oh, and the new president of Iraq, Saddam Hussein, was given a key to the city of Detroit. How did this come to pass?

Genocide Survivors Talking About Serbian Terror and Their Personal Success Story
It was 1999. He and his family were in Kosovo and the bombs and the guns and the soldiers walking through his hometown meant an ethnic war was escalating. That morning, his mom looked him in the eyes and told him she had sewn money into the waist of the jeans he was wearing and if they were to be separated — if something unthinkable were to happen to her or to his dad or his older brother — he should keep the money hidden and use it to travel as far toward the country's border as he could.
His family survived the evacuation; their journey took three months. Eventually, they settled in Southeast Michigan — Rochester Hills, specifically — and from all of that Demaj learned never to take freedom, or opportunity, for granted.
Today, Demaj runs the daily operations of Hepta Systems, a Detroit-based manager of smart building technology. Demaj is in the business of making buildings smarter — from the heating and cooling to the lighting to the window shades. Hepta's largest client is Dan Gilbert's Bedrock Real Estate Services, an account Demaj oversees.
I hired him at a young age because I have always put a lot of faith in the young and hungry; I also wanted the company to grow more as a family, said Hepta President Ted Houck. Since Demaj joined the company last year, Hepta sales have grown by 300 percent and employees have more than doubled from 18 to 40.
Demaj is also busy growing an online residential real estate service he launched last year. Called Reozom.com, it works like a virtual listing agent; Demaj said his goal is to make buying or selling a home as easy as posting on social media. The service has listed 1,000 homes and has been used by over 1,200 agents. It's on pace to double last year's $130,000 in revenue.
Through all of this success in business, Demaj has never forgotten where he came from: he makes regular return trips to Kosovo to work with entrepreneurs in the growing technology space there.
All I see is young people who are hungry for success and opportunity. Hope is alive again in Kosovo thanks to the United States' willingness to intervene, he said.
The 10 WORST STATES for JOBS
Are ya out of work? If so, you’re in the minority. If you’ve been paying attention, only 3 and a half percent of the population is unemployed right now. That’s the lowest it’s been in the last 50 years.
And there’s plenty of jobs out there, too. Lots of companies can’t hire enough people, especially in blue collar industries like trucking and construction, in technology, and in high level health care.
If you don’t have a job now and you’re looking, it shouldn’t be long until you get one. If you’ve been out of work for a long time, you’re likely lazy. Except for very special circumstances.
So, the economy is booming and companies can’t grow fast enough to keep up with demand. But of course, there’s gonna be some states where the job scene is the worst. Not always terrible, but someone has to finish last right?
10. Oregon
In Oregon, the unemployment rate is currently 4.1% the 12th highest in the nation. But, we factored in more than just the current snapshot of the job situation to cast a wider picture.
We also measured job growth over the past year. There are 12 states with negative job growth right now, and three where job growth is zero. Oregon is one of those three.
So, a 4.1% unemployment rate and zero job growth rate means Oregon’s job quotient is 4.1.
9. West Virginia
No surprises that West Virginia is towards the bottom when it comes to jobs. The Mountain State’s 4.7% unemployment rate is the 5th worst in the country, but West Virginia’s job growth has been steady, growing at .4%, which is actually the 6th highest rate in the US. That gives West Virginia a job quotient score of 4.3.
Now lets compare that to our best state for jobs in the USA, Colorado, which has a 2.7% unemployment rate and a .8% job growth rate for a job quotient of 1.9. The state with the lowest unemployment rate is Vermont, where only 2.2% of the population is out of work.
New Jersey and Alabama are tied with Colorado with the best current job growth rates.
8. Kentucky
Here in Kentucky, the unemployment rate is 4.4% which is the 7th highest rate, and the job growth is -.1%.
-.1% means that there have been a loss of about 18,000 jobs over the last year here.
Like other states, Kentucky’s job gains came in health care, education and manufacturing, and the state saw job losses in mining and logging, as the US is slowly moving towards cleaner energy like natural gas.
7. North Carolina
North Carolina has a 4.1% unemployment rate, which is the 12th worst, but the Tar Heel state saw it’s job sector shrink by .4%, which is the 3rd highest rate of job losses in the nation.
6. Michigan
In Michigan, the numbers are very similar to those in North Carolina. A 4.2% unemployment rate and a -.3% job growth rate, resulting in a job quotient of 4.5.
Michigan has lost 6,000 jobs in manufacturing. Some people have said that a trade war with China is part of the problem. Other states like Pennsylvania and Wisconsin have seen similar dips in manufacturing jobs.
Of course, the auto industry is a big deal in Michigan. But slowing sales and rising inventories are leading to slight production cuts and job losses. Basically, people are buying less cars lately.
5. Washington
In Washington, the unemployment rate is 4.6%, the 6th highest in the nation. And the job rate has shrunk by -.2% in the last year.
The state of Washington saw a net loss of 1,600 jobs in the last reporting month. The largest job growth was in retail, technology and construction. Manufacturing jobs are down here, too, but unlike other states we’ve seen, Washington lost jobs in education and healthcare.
4. Arizona
Here in the state of Arizona, the unemployment rate is really low at 4.9%, but the job growth rate is climbing. Over the last year, Arizona did add a net 27,000 jobs, which is about average.
3. New Mexico
Here in New Mexico, the unemployment rate is tied with Arizona at 4.9%. However, unlike Arizona, which is making strides, New Mexico’s job growth rate was essentially zero.
So that means 1 in 20 people is out of work, and will likely remain out of work for the foreseeable future.
2. Alaska
Next up is Alaska, which has the nation’s highest unemployment rate at 6.2%. That’s almost twice the national average.
There are a few reasons for Alaska’s high jobless rate. Alaska has a lot of seasonal jobs that only happen in the summer. This includes tourism, commercial fishing, and firefighting.
However, on the bright side, the job growth rate here is .3%, so that’s promising.
1. Mississippi
Here in the Magnolia State, the unemployment rate is a little better than Alaska, at 5.5%. However, Mississippi has seen a -.5% job decline in the last year, the worst in the nation.

300,000 VW Diesels Sitting All Over The US
Volkswagen has taken parking lots to a whole new level in the United States. It will not be emptying them soon.
A recent court filing shows that Volkswagen AG has paid more than $7.4 billion to buy back about 350,000 U.S. diesel vehicles through mid-February. The German automaker has been storing hundreds of thousands of vehicles around the United States for months.
The filing from the program’s independent administrator said that Volkswagen has 37 secure storage facilities around the United States housing nearly 300,000 vehicles. The lots include a shuttered suburban Detroit football stadium, a former Minnesota paper mill and a sun-bleached desert graveyard near Victorville, California.
