Toledo Spain - A Must See Town and Perfect Day Trip From Madrid | 90+ Countries w/3 Kids
Join us for a tour of Toledo one of the most visited places in all of Spain!
We were completely amazed. Walking through the streets of this city made us feel that we had gone back to the Middle Ages when Toledo was the capital of Spain. It was one of the most important centres in Europe from the Gothic epoch until 1560 and its buildings stand tall to witness this period in time.
The architecture is really impressive with the main sights being the large fortress (alcázar) built by the monarchs, the vast and richly decorated cathedral, and the impressive archdiocesan palace built by the prelates of Toledo, primates of the Spanish church.
However, apart from the stunning infrastructure we also realized that there are so many souvenir shops in the city that also express the culture and identity of Toledo. They are filled with beautiful handmade products.
The city is surrounded by the River Tajo on three sides and two medieval walls on the fourth side.
Enjoy the video and let us know where you are watching from.

El Alcazar de Toledo - Spain 4K Travel Channel
Visiting the Alcazar of Toledo is a must of every Toledo visit. In the search for the entrance, we first come to the entrance of the library. It is the regional library of Castilla-La Mancha. The entrance to the Alcazar of Toledo is on the opposite side, in Calle de la Paz. So we walk around the huge building.
The coat of arms of the House of Habsburg, which Charles V had introduced, is everywhere, even on the municipal buses.
At last, we found the entrance. Now we are below the Alcazar of Toledo. In a huge hall, we see the remains from the Roman period. Already the Romans set up an army camp here, on the highest point the town. In the rocky subsoil, they created a cistern for 28,000 liters of water.
Charles V built the Alcazar of Toledo, which is a mixture of fortress and palace. It symbolizes his imperial claim, but also shows that all the fights that determined his life influenced his thinking.
The Alcazar of Toledo was badly damaged and partially destroyed in the Spanish Civil War. After the Second World War one reconstructed primarily the architecture. Most of the rooms are unadorned. Today they are home to the Spanish Army Museum. The splendor of bygone times is irrevocably destroyed.
A huge terrace offers a nice view of the distant surroundings.
The two-store arcaded courtyard in the center of the building houses a statue of Charles V in the center. The courtyard is one of the most beautiful of the late Renaissance. A huge staircase leads into the inside of the building.
Beside many weapons and armor, we see a model of a city with countless bastions of silver and gold. 3300 silver models of people complete the miniature world. It served the young Charles V to study combat situations.
But also military utensils and souvenirs from all corners of the world are on display.
Among these, the tent in the imperial chapel particularly stands out. The Indo-Portuguese tent is well-known as a tent of Charles V. It belonged to admiral Martin Alfonso de Sousa, who was appointed the governor of the Portuguese state of India in 1541. In 1935, the tent came to the army museum as a property of the Old Holy Brotherhood of Toledo.

WHAT TO SEE IN TOLEDO, SPAIN / LILY AND LAU
Hello and welcome everyone!
Toledo is one of the Spanish cities with the greatest wealth of monuments. Known as the “city of the three cultures”, because Christians, Arabs and Jews lived together there for centuries, behind its walls Toledo preserves an artistic and cultural legacy in the form of churches, palaces, fortresses, mosques and synagogues. This great diversity of artistic styles makes the old quarter of the capital of Castile - La Mancha a real open-air museum, which has led to it being declared a World Heritage Site.

Catedral Primada Santa Maria de Toledo Spain
Building of the Primate Cathedral of Saint Mary was begun in 1226 under the rule of Ferdinand III. The site had previous been used as a Visigoth basilica, its 2nd version was consecrated in 587, later it had become a mosque. The intention of the cathedral builders was to cover all of the sacred space of the former city mosque with the cathedral, and of the former sahn with the cloister. It also combines some characteristics of the Mudéjar style, mainly in the cloister, and with the presence of multifoiled arches in the triforium. The spectacular incorporation of light and the structural achievements of the ambulatory vaults are some of its more remarkable aspects.
