Kathmandu to Pokhara road trip and sightseeing | Bangla
Nepal was my 2nd visit abroad, the 1st one was at Bhutan. The perception that I acquired about foreign countries by visiting Bhutan was shattered at the very moment on the way to our hotel at Kathmandu. The weather was hot, dust was here and there, congested buildings and overpopulation were not in the list of my expectation before starting our journey.
We stayed at Hotel Vaishali at Thamel, Kathmandu which is a 4 star hotel. Per night rent of our room was around Tk. 4,000. However, there are plenty of options in and around Thamel area. Even you can get a room to stay for as low as Tk. 350 per night.
We took a package for our Pokhara tour for 2 nights including private transport, accommodation, food and sightseeing for Tk. 8,500 (around 100 USD) per person. However, a range of public and luxury tourist buses operate Kathmandu to Pokhara all through the day. Fare of the buses range from 750 to 2500 rupees. But if you are travelling in a group, I would recommend to opt for the private transfer because the natural beauty of the 202 kilometres road from Kathmandu to Pokhara is packed with sheer nature beauty and taking frequent breaks can be really awesome.
We took 4 breaks including lunch. Our ever smiling guide cum driver stopped in a riverside restaurant. Though the water of the river was pretty sooty due to the mud slide from the hills. Still the environment was really amazing.
Pokhara airport can be see just before entering the city. Only a handful of flights from Buddha air and Yeti air is operating here. However, if you are planning to visit Pokhara from Kathmandu, you must be ready to pay as high as $250 for the 25 minutes flight.
We stayed at Hotel Queens Park at Pokhara. The 3 star hotel was tidy and location was great.
Next morning we started for Sarankot early in the morning. Unfortunately, the sky was cloudy and we couldn’t see the Himalaya and Annapuran mountain range from the view point which is the key attraction of the spot. Still, the cool breeze with soft sun soothed our mind.
We missed another great spot of Pokhara which is World Peach Pagoda. Due to the opposite direction from the city most tour packages don’t include by default these 2 spots in one day which we didn’t know before arriving. Therefore, if you are planning your trip, my recommendation is to consider visiting both spots.
After spending a couple of hours at Sarankot we headed for our next stop Devi’s Fall. In the meantime, we got back to our hotel to enjoy the complimentary breakfast. The water of the fall passes to a 30 meter deep tunnel with a length of around 500 feet which is why the waterfall is locally known as “Patal Changu” which means underground waterfall. There is a tragic history behind the name of the waterfall. In 1961, a Swiss couple got into the waterfall for a swim but Mrs. Devi drowned in the deep cave. From that time, it is well known as Devi’s Fall.
We headed to our hotel after vising 1 or 2 insignificant spots and reached at Phewa Lake after lunch. The lake is situated at 2500 feet above sea level and is mistaken by most people as a natural lake. Though the main source of water is rain and the stream of several falls, but there is a damn that regulates the amount of water to be entered in the lake. Not only in Pokhara, this 4.5 square kilometre lake is the most visited lake all through Nepal. We asked our boatman regarding the name of the lake and he said it was named after the bark of foxes from the jungle and mountains around the lake. However, I am not pretty sure about the authenticity of the boatman’s statement.
Our Pokhara trip ended here. We returned to Kathmandu on next morning and on the way back we visited Mankamana cable car which I am going to feature on my next video.
So, stay with TRAVEL DOT.
Thanks
Shibli

Kathmandu is the nation's capital and largest city. Nepal is a multiethnic nation with Nepali as the official language.
The name Nepal is first recorded in texts from the Vedic period of the Indian subcontinent, the era in ancient India when Hinduism was founded, the predominant religion of the country. In the middle of the first millennium BCE, Gautama Buddha, the founder of Buddhism, was born in Lumbini in southern Nepal. Parts of northern Nepal were intertwined with the culture of Tibet. The centrally located Kathmandu Valley was the seat of the prosperous Newar confederacy known as Nepal Mandala. The Himalayan branch of the ancient Silk Road was dominated by the valley's traders. The cosmopolitan region developed distinct traditional art and architecture. By the 18th century, the Gorkha Kingdom achieved the unification of Nepal. The Shah dynasty established the Kingdom of Nepal and later formed an alliance with the British Empire, under its Rajput Rana dynasty of premiers. The country was never colonised but served as a buffer state between Imperial China and British India. Parliamentary democracy was introduced in 1951, but was twice suspended by Nepalese monarchs, in 1960 and 2005. The Nepalese Civil War in the 1990s and early 2000s resulted in the proclamation of a secular republic in 2008, ending the world's last Hindu monarchy. The Constitution of Nepal, adopted in 2015, establishes Nepal as a federal secular parliamentary republic divided into seven provinces. Nepal was admitted to the United Nations in 1955, and friendship treaties were signed with India in 1950 and the People's Republic of China in 1960. Nepal hosts the permanent secretariat of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), of which it is a founding member. Nepal is also a member of the Non Aligned Movement and the Bay of Bengal Initiative. The military of Nepal is the fifth largest in South Asia; it is notable for its Gurkha history, particularly during the world wars, and has been a significant contributor to United Nations peacekeeping operations.

Kaziranga National Park (pronounced Assamese pronunciation: [kaziɹɔŋa ɹast(ɹ)iɔ uɪddan]) is a national park in the Golaghat and Nagaon districts of the state of Assam, India. The sanctuary, which hosts two-thirds of the world's great one-horned rhinoceroses, is a World Heritage Site. According to the census held in March 2018 which was jointly conducted by the Forest Department of the Government of Assam and some recognized wildlife NGOs, the rhino population in Kaziranga National Park is 2,413. It comprises 1,641 adult rhinos (642 males, 793 females, 206 unsexed); 387 sub-adults (116 males, 149 females, 122 unsexed); and 385 calves. In 2015, the rhino population stood at 2401. Kaziranga is home to the highest density of tigers among protected areas in the world, and was declared a Tiger Reserve in 2006 (now the highest tiger density is in Orang National Park, Assam) . The park is home to large breeding populations of elephants, wild water buffalo, and swamp deer. Kaziranga is recognized as an Important Bird Area by BirdLife International for conservation of avifaunal species. When compared with other protected areas in India, Kaziranga has achieved notable success in wildlife conservation. Located on the edge of the Eastern Himalaya biodiversity hotspot, the park combines high species diversity and visibility.
Kaziranga is a vast expanse of tall elephant grass, marshland, and dense tropical moist broadleaf forests, criss-crossed by four major rivers, including the Brahmaputra, and the park includes numerous small bodies of water. Kaziranga has been the theme of several books, songs, and documentaries. The park celebrated its centennial in 2005 after its establishment in 1905 as a reserve forest.

SUMMARY
=======
The incidence of child labour in Nepal is relatively high compared with other countries in South Asia. According to the Nepal Labour Force Survey (NLFS) in 2008, 86.2% of children who were working were also studying and 13.8% of the children were working only. A comparison over the years of child labour force participation rate across gender and residence is shown in Table 1 below:
Most children (60.5%) worked up to 19 hours in 2008, while 32.2% worked 20 to 40 hours a week and 7.3% worked for more than 40 hours in a week. This trend is consistent in both rural and urban areas. In the 2003/2004 Nepal Living Standards Survey Statistical Report Volume II, it was found that the poorest consumption quintile has the highest percentage (18.7%) of child laborers who for more than 40 hours a week as compared with the rest of the consumption quintile. Also, according to Edmonds(2006) female children work more hours than their male siblings. In the same study Edmonds states that the majority of child labourers work in the agricultural sector and in domestic labour.According to Ray (2004), child schooling and child labour force participation rates are negatively correlated as there is a trade-off between the two variables. Thus, an increase in labour hours would mean lesser time for schooling, and lesser work hours equals to an increase in time spent for schooling.

Private schools, also known to many as independent schools, non-governmental, privately funded, or non-state schools, are not administered by local, state or national governments. Children who attend private schools may be there because they are dissatisfied with public schools in their area. They may be selected for their academic prowess, or prowess in other fields, or sometimes their religious background. Private schools retain the right to select their students and are funded in whole or in part by charging their students for tuition, rather than relying on mandatory taxation through public (government) funding; at some private schools students may be able to get a scholarship, lowering this tuition fee, dependent on a student's talents or abilities (e.g. sport scholarship, art scholarship, academic scholarship), need for financial aid, or tax credit scholarships that might be available. Some private schools are associated with a particular religion, such as Judaism or Roman Catholicism. For the past century, roughly one in 10 U.S families has chosen to enroll their children in private school.

Nepal ( ( listen); Nepali: नेपाल Nepāl [neˈpal]), officially the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal (Nepali: सङ्घीय लोकतान्त्रिक गणतन्त्र नेपाल Saṅghīya Lokatāntrik Gaṇatantra Nepāl), is a landlocked country in South Asia. It is located mainly in the Himalayas but also includes parts of the Indo-Gangetic Plain. With an estimated population of 26.4 million, it is 48th largest country by population and 93rd largest country by area. It borders China in the north and India in the south, east, and west while Bangladesh is located within only 27 km (17 mi) of its southeastern tip and Bhutan is separated from it by the Indian state of Sikkim. Nepal has a diverse geography, including fertile plains, subalpine forested hills, and eight of the world's ten tallest mountains, including Mount Everest, the highest point on Earth.

India Travel Tips | Things You Should Know Before Visiting India
What are some things that you should know before visiting India? How expensive is India? In our India travel tips guide currency tips, transportation, hotels, safety, food and health. We share what we loved about India in terms of travel along with what we hated about India on our trip. Now let's explore travel in India in depth!
Official Exchange Rate = $1 USD = 64.14 Indian Rupee (current as of May, 2017)
Transportation in India (City to city)
1) We highly recommend train travel in India over taking the bus
2) Book your train tickets in advance online (we used cleartrip.com)
3) If you don't book tickets in advance check at major train stations to see if they have tickets reserved for foreign travelers under the tourist quota.
Local transportation
1) If you're traveling at a budget or mid-range level you'll definitely be taking your share of taxis, auto-rickshaws and man-powered rickshaws.
2) Try to know what a ride should cost in advance by researching, asking at your hotel or asking a local
3) Be prepared to bargain as rickshaw drivers often try to rip tourists off
Accommodations in India
1) Hostel in India - can start as low as $2 to 3 USD and upwards
2) 3 star Hotel in India - ($20 to $40 USD)
3) 4 or 5 star Hotel in India - (sky is the limit)
We tried to book our hotels around areas of the city we'd be exploring by day and night. Staying on the outskirts means much longer local transportation time.
Health in India
1) Make sure to get all of your recommend shots and vaccinations before going to India. Check online or with your doctor to find out what you need to get specifically
2) Carry hand-sanitizer and wet wipes to clean your hands and dirty objects you may encounter like filthy door handles
3) Drink only bottled water
4) Have Imodium handy in case you get sick to your stomach
Safety in India
1) Dress modestly (especially if you're a female)
2) Don't arrive late at night in train stations
3) Safety in numbers if you're a female traveler
General Travel Tips for India
1) Don't try to do too much or have too fast of a schedule (slow versus fast travel)
2) Pick a particular region and don't try to cover all of India
3) Mix up smaller cities with bigger cities on your itinerary in India
What to eat in India
1) Research restaurants online on sites like tripadvisor or food vlogs
2) Only eat street food or at restaurants that are busy with locals
3) Ask hotel staff or locals you encounter for recommendations
Budget meals in India can be had for roughly $2 to $5 in USD per person and fine dining get really expensive.
Things we LOVED about India(I love India)
1) Incredible train rides
2) Amazing attractions
3) Diversity of regions in India (how different they are)
4) Beautiful temples, mosques and architecture
5) Great value in terms of what you spend for what you get
6) The sense of adventure not knowing what will happen
Things we HATED about India (I hate India)
1) Getting sick and having stomach issues
2) Getting hassled by aggressive touts, rickshaw drivers and vendors
3) Often not arriving on time or as scheduled
Final Thoughts
India is one of the most adventurous countries we've ever visited as travelers. We loved our time there but it can be a polarizing place. Most people love it or hate.
