Zurich and Uetliberg Mountain
Visited Zurich In November of 2014. Uetliberg mountain ( could be reached with just a 30-minute local train ride from Zurich
On a clear day, the mountain affords an impressive panoramic view of the Zurich city, the lake and the Alps.
It was a rainy and cloudy day; However, the clouds turned the scenery unexpectedly gorgeous! As the mountain top is higher above the clouds; The sky became wonderfully bright and refreshing. Lush hills, snow-peaked Alps, houses and buildings gradually emerged as the clouds faded away, simply awe-inspiring!
Hiked for about two hours and took a cable car down at Felsenegg, rode a train back to Zurich.
Zurich is huge on world financial services, but has a small town feel, very walkable. There were swans swimming on the lake. Harmony and peaceful were the words coming to the mind.

Switzerland first time | Zurich------
There was no plan to go Switzerland. I had lay over for two days so it was a good way to explore around the Zurich city.
My first impression about Zurich is that it is very organised city , clean and easy to get around.
Expensive for sure . Specially coming from a village after 3 months felt like everything was super super expensive.
But you can still find a way to get by with not spending much. I got 3 dozen of bananas and ate that for two days!
Heading to mountain tomorrow!

Cab ride on a very steep track (Uetlibergbahn / S10 Zurich - Uetliberg)
While everything looks like a normal cab ride at first glance, it definitely isn't! This is the Uetlibergbahn, listed in the ZVV S-Bahn Zurich system as S10, which connects Zurich main station to Zurichs closest mountain, the Uetliberg. It runs on 1435mm standard gauge, but that's already all that is standard here. The Uetlibergbahn is one of the steepest adhesion railways in the world, climbing up to 79‰ - without the help of a cograil! It runs on 1200V DC and shares tracks with the Sihltalbahn (S4) from the same company, which uses the standard 15kV AC catenary. Due to this, the pantograph of the Uetlibergbahn had to be moved 1.3 meters to the right side, in order to be able to run both lines on the same tracks. The catenary offset is clearly visible in the video. We start in Zurich at 396m amsl and make our way up to 813m amsl. The top of Uetliberg is 869m high and is only a short hike away from the station.
That's about the Uetliberg, but let's not forget the importance of this railway for the commuter service. It is an important link for commuters and is highly used by commuters but also hikers, bikers and tourists alike. If you're ever in Zurich, definitely make a trip on this one - it is accessible with a standard ticket for the ZVV system! DAS IST GUT!!! ???????? Uetliberg Mountain Bike Trail || MTB in Zurich, Switzerland.
Another great Swiss trail in the city of Zurich, Switzerland. This is top to bottom POV mountain biking the Uetliberg Mountain Bike Trail in Zürich , Switzerland. It's a 10-12 minute long downhill trail with a LOT of flow. Easily accessed with a 30 minute up hill ride from the hospital of Zurich. There are wide corners with nice flowy berms, wooden bridges, jumps, a wall-ride and roots - perfect trail for all abilities just on the hedge of the city.

Follow us as we explore Uetliberg Mountain and go crazy over the cold weather of winter in Switzerland. This is the nearest mountain that we can access from the city of Zurich. The train ticket will cost you CHF 17 for going and coming back to the city.
