Ventura County Maritime Museum at Channel Islands Harbor
Today I stopped by the Ventura County Maritime Museum at Channel Islands Harbor and was amazed by 2 things. First, the collection was extensive! I couldn't believe how many finely detailed ship ship models and works of art were in this museum. Second, I was impressed by the wealth of knowledge of the docents. Actually learned some new things that were very interesting! Go check it out!

Ventura
Situated along California’s scenic central coast, the City of Ventura was once referred to as the “land of endless summers” and even the “city of good fortune”. This picturesque community offers plenty for visitors to do, including a stop along the pier at San Buenaventura State Beach and a stroll down the historic Ventura Pier. For those visitors more into surfing than swimming, make a stop at the rocky, narrow beach of Surfer’s Point. When it is time to take a break from the surf and sand, head to the vibrant restaurants, galleries and more of Ventura Harbor. Beautiful Ventura County offers a stunning 42 miles of coastline and the Los Padres National Forest, which accounts for 46% of the county’s land mass in the northern portion of the county. Fertile valleys in the southern half of the county make Ventura County a leading agricultural producer. Together, farming and the Ventura Pier occupy half of the county’s 1.2 million acres. Ventura County has a strong economic base that includes major industries such as biotechnology, agriculture, advanced technologies, oil production, and tourism.

Smith Event Pavilion that will be used for lectures, programs and a variety of Museum events. It can seat 200 for dinner, with the option to tent the front plaza for an additional 140 guests. Could be a great wedding venue!!

Chumash Indian Museum in Thousand Oaks (2009)
We stopped by the Chumash Indian Museum in the Lang Ranch section of Thousand Oaks today and I took this quick video of the entrance and part of the museum. The kids immediately found interest in the exhibits.
Even more impressive is the outdoor areas of surrounding Oakbrook Regional Park and the Chumash village about 1/2 mile behind the museum.
(5/27/19 NOTE: The Chumash village was destroyed as a result of the Woolsey Fire of November 2018. Oakbrook Regional Park has been closed as a result since then.)

Tzar Nicholas I (1796 - 1855), Николай I Павлович
Nicholas the Stick, policeman of Europe.
Nicholas I personified the worst aspects of autocracy. A rigid
reactionary and martinet, he was convinced he was acting from the
purist motives and for the best of Russia. Wars, rebellions, and
terrorists mostly of his own creation tormented him. The Crimean War
was the finale to his frustrating career. His reign gave birth to the
first attempt at a progressive revolution in modern times in Russia.
Tzar Nicholas I is from the Historical Figures of Russia created by
artist-histrorian George Stuart. For more information see

McGrath Family Farm in Camarillo
McGrath Family Farm is located right off the 101 Freeway in Oxnard, on 505 North Wood Road. You can't miss it going south on the 101 as you approach the Central Avenue off ramp. We stop by often to get fresh, organic produce during the summer. We never go wrong here with the peaches, nectarines and other fresh fruits. But the kids also love this place because for a small fee they'll let you visit with the ducks, goats and other animals and feed them. These animals are quite friendly! Stop on by as you're passing through Oxnard/Camarillo!

Welcome to one of the most elegant and interesting historic mansions in Santa Paula. The Duval home was created in 1925 to fulfill the needs of this Senator and founder of the Saticoy Country Club for entertaining and relaxing. Large windows with elegant treatments and many extras including a dumb waiter assure a unique and comfortable life. The large lot is professionally landscaped and includes a gazebo and koi pond, orchids and roses, and fruit trees. Santa Paula's rich history comes to life on this hillside and inside the home.
