The Price of Liberty’ Monument, Unveiling & Dedication at Texas State Capitol - Revised
The Price of Liberty’ Monument, Unveiling & Dedication at Texas State Capitol In a dedication ceremony that was held on Saturday, December 2, a new bronze memorial statue entitled “The Price of Liberty” was unveiled on the grounds of the Texas State Capitol complex. At the height of 21 feet, the memorial portrays a version of Lady Liberty taking a husband and father off to war while his tearful wife holds on. The couple’s daughter also holds a U.S. flag which is folded into a triangle, symbolizing the loss of American loved ones who have passed in warfare. According to NBC DFW, it has been reported that the monument is meant to honor Texas service members who have risked their lives since the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, as well as their family members. It was unveiled at East 12th Street and San Jacinto Boulevard amidst a feeling that it was never too soon to honor those that had served since that horrible event in New York City. In a statement to the news last week, Retired Army Colonel James Stryker (also the chairman of the board for the Texas War Memorial Foundation), explained that when the Vietnam Veterans Monument had been constructed on the grounds of the Capitol in 2014, close to 40 years had passed. Subsequently, he felt that this timing was well within reason for honoring these service men and women. “This generation of warriors really need an opportunity to know, truly, that we as a state appreciate your sacrifice,” he explained.
Vietnam Veterans moving wall setup at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, Illinois
This is amazing. There are over 1500 American flags for soldiers that have not returned to American soil after the Vietnam war. The wall will be in the cemetery between September 26 through the 30th, and veterans are allowed access at all hours, not just when the cemetery is open.

This slideshow is a brief dedication and reunion history of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in San Antonio, TX. It was created in memory of all who honorably served our country during the Vietnam War, in particular in the “Hill Fights of 1967 - The First Battle of Khe Sanh.”

On April 30, 2016 fellow veteran Joe Cialone and I revisited the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. That day was the 49th anniversary date of the Battle of Hill 881 South near Khe Sanh. The actual battle was the most humbling experience of my life. As we were about to depart the memorial I said to Joe, “I can’t believe this happened I just can’t believe it.” But it did happen, and we will never forget those who were KIA and WIA, and those who suffered other hardships.
After returning from San Antonio, I decided to put together a slide show of previous reunions with background music provided by a very talented Vietnamese singer, Pham Quynh Anh. She sings a moving version of “Hello Vietnam” that tells a story of her desire to visit her native country.
On April 30, 2017 veterans from M/3/3, K/3/9 and M/3/9 will be attending the 50th anniversary of the battle to participate in a memorial service for fallen comrades.
On October 11-15, 2017 members of the 38th OCC Class/Basic Class 3-66 will hold its bi-annual reunion in San Antonio. A special ceremony will be held at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on October 13 at 9:30 AM to pay tribute to 33 fallen classmates killed in action during Vietnam War.

Vietnam Veterans War Memorial
Vietnam veterans from throughout the area gathered together on Tuesday, March 1, 2016, to witness the installation of an authentic Vietnam-era Huey Helicopter at Veterans Park in East Las Cruces.
As the centerpiece of the Vietnam War Memorial Monument, the 4,000-pound helicopter was lifted in place by two cranes that placed it on top of a 25-foot pillar. The vintage Huey was taken from the nearby War Eagles Air Museum in Santa Teresa and transported to Las Cruces on a large flatbed trailer.
The monument is the brainchild of local community leader J. Joe Martinez, who spent nine years developing the monument and raising funds from the private and public sector for the project.
The New Mexico Vietnam Veterans War Memorial Project in Las Cruces, New Mexico, is a partnership between the community, the private sector, and the State of New Mexico to fund and build a memorial to pay tribute the 398 New Mexico Vietnam veterans killed in action (1955-1975). The memorial, titled “Heroes Never Thanked,” also honors all Vietnam veterans who served in Southeast Asia and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice by giving their lives during the Vietnam War.The New Mexico Vietnam Veterans War Memorial will reside in the Las Cruces Veterans Park. Each Killed in Action Vietnam Veteran from New Mexico will have their photo metal engraved and set in a semi-circular stone wall as part of the memorial.
Vietnam Veterans Memorial Sacramento California
This Vietnam Veterans Memorial is located near 15th Street and Capitol Avenue in State Capitol Park in Sacramento, California.
It is a multi-million dollar memorial that is circular in design with more than 20 engraved black granite panels with the names of at least 5,800 Californians who are dead or missing.
At the center of the memorial are a series of bronze statues and relief sculptures that depict scenes of daily life during the war.
When I was a little girl I watched many Army trucks transport men to Oakland, California from where they were sent to Vietnam. I watched this war on television and wondered why, when we have telephones, are we having this war.
