The Vintage Sweet Shoppe on the Travel Channel
Napa CA's most delicious wine and sweets destination.
Visiting with Huell Howser: Galco's
Huell first met John Galco back in 2000 when he did a program about the over 250 different vintage soda pops he sold in his store. In this special update, we'll discover that not only has his inventory of vintage sodas doubled in size, but he's also added shelves of classic candy bars! The real joy of the story, however, is finding out how his family has changed and grown since the first visit.

Wines from Temecula Valley: California's rapidly growing wine region
When someone asks you to name a wine region in California, what would you say? Odds are that you (and most people) would name off Napa Valley first. Possibly Sonoma second. Temecula Valley would probably be far down the list, but it is one of the fastest growing regions in the state. Ever had their wine?

Daniel Vitalis @ Wilbur Hot Springs ~ part 2/2
Wilbur Hot Springs! Just 2.5 hours North East of the Bay, this is a great place to take a break from city living, or for anyone who loves to Spring Jump around the World! This Water is Raw, Alive, and untreated, and flows into the pools (the fluminarium as this style is called) just as they flow from the Earth. There is a bit of a cooling that is allowed before they enter the pools so as to prevent serious burns, but no chlorination, ozonation or any other denaturing technology is used!
This is a truly unique source, rich in both Sulfur and Sodium Chloride, as well as.... something unidentified. I am guessing it is a naturally occurring Pertroleum Oil of some kind. It leaves a silky coat on your skin, and adds dramatically to the exotic experience of Wilbur's enchanted grounds.
There is a 140 degree F hotspring gyser that erupts every 44 minutes, and over 1,800 acres of private nature preserve to explore. The valley is totally concealed from civilization, and its nestled into its Napa Valley-like hills are the solar panels that power this off grid facility.
There is a gigantic public commericial sized kitchen, and as a guest you are given your own cubard and refridgerator shelf. This means that no matter what your diet you can take care of yourself in a very comfortable environment!
Also, unlike some of the other Hot Springs I visited in California, Wilbur has the feel of the Sacred without being the culty experience of some of the Hot Spring churches (legal spiritual communities) around the State.
The grounds have been decorated in a Zen theme that creates an ideal blank canvass for you to paint your own experience upon!
In the gift shop they sell the dehydrated salts of the Waters there, which have now found their way into my kitchen at home!
Enjoy these videos, and visit these springs as soon as you can!

California Cheese Crawl 2019 VLOG | San Francisco, Napa Valley, Modesto, etc. | The Tummy Train
[Close captioned in case there are some things I said that don't sound clear.]
Finally sharing this vlog from my California Cheese Crawl experience with Real California Milk/California Milk Advisory Board!
It was three awesome days filled with glorious cheese, but more importantly, it was nice to learn about all the sustainability efforts being taken by these companies.
From methane digesters that converts waste to electricity, to treatment ponds that clean discarded water for irrigation, it’s quite an eye-opening experience! We were received by all the companies with such enthusiasm and warmth, it really made the entire experience go beyond anything I was expecting.
Here are the locations mentioned in the video by order of appearance:
San Francisco Ferry Building-
Fiscalini Cheese Company, Modesto-
Hilmar Cheese Company, Hilmar-
Dewz Restaurant, Modesto
Gott's Roadside, St. Helena
Culinary Institute of America at Greystone
Louis M Martini Winery, Napa Valley-
Harvest Table, Napa Valley
Valley Ford Cheese, Sonoma County-
Mazarine Coffee, Union Square
Trader Joe's, Union Square
PS. I would like to thank the California Milk Advisory Board for this unforgettable experience, and also beshie Pepe Samson ( for making the trip even more fun! ❤️

$20 Malbec vs. $135 Malbec - Weekly Wine Picks Ep. 5

Malbec may be the world’s most MISUNDERSTOOD grape - and I’m on a mission to set the record straight. For too long we have thought of Malbec as a one-dimensional spicy alternative to Cabernet, incapable of elegance and restraint. In this weeks episode I’m exploring the various iterations of Malbec from Argentina, from big and bombastic to nuanced and subtle. Catena Zapata has been one of the leading producers of the grape since the early 1900’s and has lead the charge for the research and development of the vineyards in Argentina. The American consumer is likely to have seen their entry level wine “Catena” on the shelves of their shop, but the higher tier wines in the portfolio are really where they flourish. The tasting today pits the two against each other, and offers a third inexpensive highly rated one that will be perfect to buy by the case for your next party. **small editing note, I put RHOC instead of RHBH!!!! MY APOLOGIES!!!!**

Each week I'm bringing you 2 great wines that not only have great value, but are actually delicious. Whether you are looking for that perfect Tuesday night wine or just want to know what the sommelier's are drinking on their night's off (God forbid we're fresh out of Burgundy) - the Weekly Wine Picks series has you covered.
------------------------------------------------------
After years of struggling trying to find great wines that were not only valuable but easily accessible, I've finally found a great solution!!! With friends and family scattered across the US, I constantly ran into the same situation. They'd ask me, What wine can I buy for $20-$30 that is great. The problem would always be the same - no two stores ever carry the same wine, and if they did, it was generally something I didn't feel was either great or worth the money. So for the past year I've been doing some extensive research.
I started first by identifying the types of wines I would recommend, and then reverse engineer from there. I started googling these wines to see who carried them and how often. Then I started actually ordering them - which is where it got tricky.
Some online retailers would claim to have them and then upon ordering would be out of the vintage or the wine entirely. Others would ship them but the cost of shipping was more than the actual bottle. Then one day, I got a big break - a retailer that was once chock full of crap wine started carrying wines that I was actually interested in buying. It was a revelation. I would get email after email announcing the arrival of this wine, and that producer, and good lord back-vintages!! What's more, is they offered a ONE-TIME YEARLY SHIPPING MEMBERSHIP for UNLIMITED SHIPPING FOR $49!!!!!!! I thought I hit a gold-mine. Surely it would be some 3rd tier shipping service that took a month to deliver.
Perplexed and cautious, I made my first order. Fast forward 2 days later and the wine, no joke, was on my doorstep (yes, you have to sign for the package). Properly packaged, the wine arrived in tact and seemed to have even been shipped in a temperature controlled environment. I ordered again, surely it wouldn't happen like this every time. But time and time again, the same thing would happen. I started experimenting with other states, same deal. I even had a corked bottle arrive once so I called them up and they shipped me a new one immediately, free of charge.
The company I am referring to is WINE.COM - they have undoubtedly knocked out every other competitor on the market - and that includes, I'm sorry to say Gary Vaynerchuck, Wine Library (I had high hopes for them - but they failed me too many times).
In this series, I will pick 2 of my favorite wines (I'll try to keep them under $30) from wine.com and do a quick review of them here with links to buy them below. I'll switch its up from week to week with reds, whites, and sparkling to keep it fresh! Make sure to subscribe to stay up to date and I'll look forward to your feedback in the comments below!
One of America’s Best Sommeliers Blind Tastes Cabernets Under $15
Patrick Cappiello, the award-winning wine director at Rebelle in New York City, regularly drinks some of the best wines in the world, but we wanted him to drink like us everyday folk. So we went to the supermarket to find Cabernets you can easily get across the country for under $15—Trader Joe’s Charles Shaw, Lindeman’s, Columbia Crest, Beringer, J. Lohr—and had him do a blind taste test. Some were absolutely awful, but some, to his surprise, were actually good. Check out the video to see which wines are a great value the next time you’re at the grocery store and which ones fail miserably.

Victorianbourg Estate Pechette:
Today I am tasting wines from Victorianbourg Wine Estate in Niagara County, New York. These are all slightly flavored wines but they are made with New York State grapes to start with. The first one up that I'm going to be tasting is the Pechette which is a Chardonnay based wine, flavored with real white peaches grown in New York State. It smells like peaches right away, that very ripe peach aroma which is nice. You can faintly smell the Chardonnay underneath and it has a slight frizzante to it. Like a little very light effervescence, which adds to the flavors. You can sense that there's a flavor of Chardonnay underneath which makes it not just a sugary, too sweet of a wine. It adds some complexity to it as well. This is very nice and very refreshing chilled for the summer time.
The next one up is the Toriamour which has some red fruit in it. I believe this is also a Chardonnay base, we'll see what it's got in it. It definitely has some strawberries and raspberries. This one is a little bit sweeter and a little bit more overpowered by that fruity sweetness but again it's not just pure sugar. It has that fresh fruit type of sweetness which is nice. It doesn't leave you feeling like you just ate a bunch of candy, it feels like you just had a mouth full of berries. It's very smooth, very easy drinking, little bit less complex than the Pechette.
Last up we have Victoria's Chocolate Obsession. This is a blend of five New York State red grapes, then infused with milk chocolate and strawberries. It is kind of like a chocolate-covered strawberry. It smells like a chocolate covered strawberry, very chocolatey and lots of strawberry notes coming through as well. It is sweet, but again it is not super sweet. It doesn't leave your mouth coated in sugar. There is some concord grape in it, you get that grapey flavor along with the chocolate and the strawberry. The chocolate overpowers everything else which is nice for a little after dinner drink or evening by the fire. That's it for our wines from Victorianbourg Wine Estate up in Niagara County New York.
They also have very nice labels on them. If you can't see them from that far then you're going to have to stop in and take a look at them up close. Hope you enjoyed this, please feel free to send us your questions and comments. We look forward to see you soon, cheers!
