Indian plum seller retails in Delhi, in the hot summer sun
'Indian plum' is a misnomer for the jamun fruit, with its far more complex tonalities of taste and astringency than the plum...
Syzygium cumini, jambul, jambolan, jamblang, or jamun, is an evergreen tropical tree in the flowering plant family Myrtaceae. Syzygium cumini is native to Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Indonesia. The name of the fruit is sometimes mistranslated as blackberry, which is a different fruit in an unrelated family.
The tree was introduced to Florida, USA in 1911 by the USDA, and is also now commonly grown in Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago. In Brazil, where it was introduced from India during Portuguese colonization, it has dispersed spontaneously in the wild in some places, as its fruits are eagerly sought by various native birds such as thrushes, tanagers and the Great Kiskadee. This species is considered an invasive in Hawaii, USA. It is also illegal to grow, plant or transplant in Sanibel, Florida.

■ ■ The Story
In the far reaches of North East India, lies a place, so hidden, that few have heard about. A realm of waterways, and floating meadows.
Indeed, a unique environment, essential to both the people who live around, and the wild animals, that share it.
This, is the story of the only floating national park on our planet, and the only home to an endangered deer subspecies, that has made a remarkable comeback from the brink of extinction.

13. Ayam Cermani Chicken
You might not think chickens are that exciting but did you know that there are luxury chickens that are worth thousands of dollars?? The Ayam Cermani Chicken is a rare breed of chicken from Indonesia.
12. Stag Beetle
You might not think Beetles would make the most affectionate pets but apparently they are extremely popular in Japan! I hear they make great listeners and are great pets for apartments!! And if you don’t like cute and cuddly, this guy is for you!
11. Toucan
Dreaming of having a toucan? You are not alone! They are beautiful birds that are wonderful to look at, with their black bodies making their colourful beaks stand out even more! If you are already a bird person and have parrots, you might think, gosh i could just add a toucan to the mix! Think again!
10. Savannah Cat
The savannah cat is one of the most majestic felines in the animal kingdom, with a long stride and tall body. A Savannah Cat is a hybrid cat crossed between an African serval and a domestic cat. You get the advantage of them looking like a wild cat but with a domestic personality which is much easier to handle for sure!!
9. De Brazza’s Monkey
De Brazza’s monkey is one of the most expensive MONKEYS in the world and is often kept as a pet in Africa. Aside from their fancy name, named after the Italian explorer who found them, they have a fancy haircut with an orange crest on their head, gentle eyes and a white muzzle from the nose down which makes it look like they have a wise old man’s beard.
8. Hyacinth Macaw
Macaws are popular exotic pets! They are pretty, easy to train and many find them to be a loving pet. But the Hyacinth Macaw outshines all of the others with its bright blue colouring with dashes of yellow. It is the largest of the flying parrot species and is native to Brazil, Bolivia and Paraguay.
7. Lavender Albino Ball Python
If you guys are afraid of snakes then watch out because here’s one for you, and it costs more than a car!! These lavender albino pythons are the result of a rare recessive gene which makes it a pretty shade of lavender with golden markings and ruby red eyes.
6. Black Palm Cockatoo
Before you spend $16,000 on a bird, it’s important to know that these birds are not very affectionate. They are very majestic birds and contrary to their name they aren’t entirely black. They are more of a smoky gray with bright red cheeks. Since they are so big, they are also known as Goliath Cockatoos.
5. Chimpanzees
Chimpanzees and baby monkeys can be irresistibly cute probably because of their caring nature, their curiosity and the fact that they are so similar to us. Many people think that getting a monkey is like getting a human baby and that it would be a great substitute for a human companion.
4. Arabian Horse.
Arabian horses are one of the most recognized horse breeds in the world, with their smaller head and dainty legs. They have had a strong presence throughout history and have been valued for their toughness and swiftness. It was first bred by the Bedouins who only allowed the finest horses to reproduce.
3. White Lion Cubs.
Similarly to the Lavender python, these cute little cubs are the product of a recessive gene which gives them their pure white fur. But before getting into how cute and unique they are I should say that getting a lion as a pet is not to be taken lightly. They are illegal in many places and need constant training and stimulation to keep them happy.
2. Green Monkey
Before you get too excited, I’m not talking about actual green monkeys but a horse named Green Monkey. While he isn’t an Arabian horse, this two-year-old American thoroughbred sold for guess how much?? Guess!! Go ahead! I’ll tell you in a bit. He was fathered from another racehorse named Forestry.
1. Sir Lancelot Encore
Finally, we have human’s best friend! If you have lost a beloved pet then this story might not sound as strange to you. Everyone loves their dogs because, well you don’t need me to tell you the reasons! Who doesn’t love being welcomed home, and comforted.

Ten must-do treks of Uttarakhand Himalaya
Ten must do treks in Garhwal Himalaya.
For true adventure seekers, the less crowded, in fact mostly isolated Himalayan terrains of the Garhwal region make for perfect trekking destinations. In fact, the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand had the potential of being the world’s most preferred trekking destination had Nepal not opened its borders to foreigners in 1950, as Garhwal was the region where people like Lord Curzon and Frank Smythe trekked and explored
1. Gangotri Glacier
The trek to the ever receding Gangotri Glacier makes for a must do trek in one’s lifetime. A moderate trek which begins at Gangotri (about 105 kms from Uttarkashi) and in the course of 18 kms takes one through a fast changing landscape and brings one across the most beautiful offerings of the Himalayas in terms of spectacular views of the Himalayan peaks like Sudarshan, Bhagirathi sisters, Shivling, etc and Himalayan fauna.
2. Dayara Buggyal
Dayara Buggyal, along with its twin, Gidara Buggyal, is perhaps one of the most beautiful alpine meadows in India. The meadows stretch out far and wide and all around the meadows are the many towering snow peaks.
3. Deoria Tal- Chandrashila or Chopta-Tungnath-Chandrashila
Chandrashila, located at an altitutde of around 4000 metres above sea level, is the summit of Tungnath, the highest Shiva Temple in the world at 3680 metres.
4. Valley of Flowers
The Valley of Flowers National Park is located in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. It was discovered by a lost Frank Smythe who was returning from a successful Kamet expedition in 1931, which happened to be the highest climbed mountain peak at that time.
5. Har Ki Dun
The Har ki Dun trek takes one through one of the most beautiful valleys in the western Garhwal Himalaya. It makes for an easy trek and hence attracts many first-timers. The trek starts from Sankri village in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand and gives spectacular views of the Swargarohini Peak. The maximum altitude attained during this trek is close to 12000 ft and the trail passes along the picturesque villages of Sankri, Osla, Seema and Taluka.
6. Roopkund
Roopkund, popularly known as the Skeleton Lake is a high altitude Himalayan lake at an altitude of 4800 metres above sea level in the Chamoli District of Garhwal. The villages of Wan and Lohajung in Kumaon act as the base camp for the trek to Roopkund.
7. Kuari Pass
Kuari Pass is a must-do trek in the winters. Lord Curzon, the 35th Viceroy of India and a great explorer discovered this trekking route. At an altitude of 4264 metres, Kuari Top is a natural amphitheatre where some of the stalwart peaks of Himalayas take stage. The 7000’ers visible from here include Kamet (7756m), Trishul (7120m), Chaukhamba (7128m), and Nanda Devi (7817m) and its twin Nanda Devi East (7434m).
8. Dodital
Dodital is a freshwater lake in Uttarakhand, India, situated at a height of 3,024 metres in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand and makes for an ideal trek for beginners.
9. Kedarnath
Even though it is known more for being a Hindu religious shrine, at over 3500 metres above sea level, Kedarnath is an enchanting place and makes for an enticing Himalayan trek. A trek of around 14 kms. from Gaurikund, the trek follows a well laid out path taken by pilgrims to the temple. Behind the Kedarnath shrine one gets to see Kedarnath and Kedarnath Dome peaks, both of which are around 7000 metres in height.
10.Rudragaira Base Camp
The trek to the base camp of the Rudragaira peak (5819m) begins from Gangotri in Uttarkashi district and is classified as a moderate to difficult level trek taking one to a height of about of 5400 metres en route.

Banned Horror Movies That Were Too Disturbing
If you're new, Subscribe! →
Horror movies are all about pushing boundaries, taking audiences and ratings boards to the very limit of what they can stomach. Some films have been so hardcore that entire countries have taken steps to ban them from their theaters, in some cases making screening or possessing them a criminal act. Sometimes you can see the rationale behind a movie being banned, but not always. For one reason or another, these horror films were all battlegrounds for censorship, deemed too disturbing for viewers… but they still managed to find their audiences anyway...
