Dead fish San Diego creek Irvine
Recent rain raised the level of the San Diego Creek in Irvine. This video was taken on Saturday 7/14/2012 at the side of the creek in the vicinity of the Audbon House at the San Joaquin Marsh. The pool that these fish were stranded in had already dried out and the fish were dead.
I think dredging work a little further up the creek earlier in the year may have something to do with it as I walk along this stretch of the river almost every weekend and I have never seen this happen before, even in the winter when the river can flood quite often.
Whoever is responsible for the river (Orange County or Irvine Ranch Water District?) needs to open a channel from this large pool on the west side of the river at the Campus Drive bridge to avoid this happening again.

Spotted Sandpiper Stationary and Foraging
There are two segments. In the first segment, the bird is a juvenile. You can tell by the barred pattern on its wings. The closing slide of this video shows the sandpiper in the spring when it has dark spots on its chest.

Featherly Regional Park - Wcities
The Featherly Regional Park is only a recent addition to the number of parks in Orange County. The park covers a major portion of Santa Ana Canyon with limited access and viewing options from Santa Ana River Bikeway. In the wilderness, the Canyon R.V. Park, a privately operated park, is an area where camping facilities and cabins are available. Group events and camping is possible at this sight.
Irvine, California
Irvine (/ˈɜrvaɪn/ UR-vyn) is an affluent suburban city in Orange County, California, United States. It is a planned city, mainly developed by the Irvine Company since the 1960s. Formally incorporated on December 28, 1971, the 66 square miles (170 km2) city has a population of 212,375 as of the 2010 census; the California Department of Finance estimates its 2013 population to be 223,729. It has annexed in the past an undeveloped area to the north, and has also annexed the former El Toro Marine Corps Air Station, most of which is planned to be converted into the Orange County Great Park. The city's mission statement is to create and maintain a community where people can live, work, and play in an environment that is safe, vibrant, and aesthetically pleasing.
Because Irvine is home to very good public schools, a large number of jobs requiring a skilled workforce, and residential housing, Irvine was chosen in 2008 by CNNMoney.com as the fourth best place to live in the United States. In 2012, it was ranked in sixth place. In September 2011, Businessweek listed Irvine as the 5th best city in the US. In June 2010, the Federal Bureau of Investigation reported that Irvine had the lowest violent crime rate among cities in the United States with populations of more than 100,000, and in August 2008 the Census Bureau ranked Irvine as having the seventh highest median income among cities in the United States with populations of more than 65,000. In 2014, Irvine was named the best-run city in the U.S. by 24/7 Wall Street. Although Mercedes-Benz USA is headquartered in Montvale, New Jersey, the company selected Irvine for the second Mercedes-Benz Classic Center (and the only one outside of Germany), which opened in June 2006.

Santiago Oaks Regional Park
Santiago Oaks Regional Park is a nature lover's paradise that still remains open to hikers, bikers, families and outdoor enthusiasts despite its many burned areas.
Although Fullerton's regional parks were left untouched by the Canyon Fire 2 back in October 2017, Santiago Oaks, located in East Orange, was one of the parks damaged in the fire. Natural recovery is already underway. In fact, land managers are working to reopen all of the park's trails for public access as soon as it is safe and feasible for visitors and habitat.
