Leo Tolstoy in Yasnaya Polyana (1908-1910) documentary
The first shots of the silent film montage (Lev Tolstoy celebrating his eightieth birthday party in 1908) were taken by Aleksandr Osipovich Drankov (1886-1949), and his two assistants, I. S. Frolov and V. Vasiliev. It seems to be the first film taken of Tolstoy.
The next shots (the death of Tolstoy) are excerpts from a Pathe Russia film released in 1910.

Yasnaya Polyana
Yasnaya Polyana (Russian: Я́сная Поля́на, literally: Bright Glade) is a writer's house museum, the former home of the writer Leo Tolstoy.
Tolstoy was born, wrote War and Peace and Anna Karenina in the house and is buried nearby. Tolstoy called Yasnaya Polyana his inaccessible literary stronghold.[1] It is 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) southwest of Tula, Russia, and 200 kilometres (120 mi) from Moscow.
In June 1921, the estate was nationalized and formally became his memorial museum. It was at first run by Alexandra Tolstaya, the writer's daughter. The current director of the museum is Vladimir Tolstoy, also one of Tolstoy's descendants.[2] The museum contains Tolstoy's personal effects and movables, as well as his library of 22,000 volumes. The estate-museum contains the writer's mansion, the school he founded for peasant children and a park where Tolstoy's unadorned grave is situated.

Russia - Zemin visits Lev Tolstoy's former estate
T/I: 10:54:17
Chinese president Jiang Zemin took a break from affairs of state on Friday (25/4) to pay his respects to the great Russian writer Leo Tolstoy. Zemin visited Tolstoy's former estate of Yasnaya Polyana, near
the city of Tula, about 200km from Moscow, where Tolstoy attempted to live out his idealistic, communitarian ideas. The Chinese motorcade whisked the president in, to a traditional greeting of bread and salt at the estate, which is now a museum.
Zemin laid flowers on the grave and expressed his respect for Tolstoy's contribution to world literature.

Palace Yasnaya Polyana
2 kilometers from Yalta, in Gaspra village, there is a palace called Romantic Alexandria. This Gothic style building was constructed in 1836 and was designed by F. Elson. The palace looks like a gloomy yet impressive building with two towers on the northern façade. It is referred to as a castle for its image. However, the southern side looks different: a subtle veranda attached to the palace gives it an Eastern look. Romantic Alexandria is surrounded with a beautiful park, where Gaspra locals and guests love to take strolls.
The first owner of the palace, Earl A. Golitsyn, lived there for just two years. A friend of the Earl, Ann Golitsyna, managed the construction. She was the one who decided that the palace should be built in Gothic style. She entrusted the creation of the park to a gardener from Vorontsov Palace, and then Ludwig Cremer was invited to work at the palace. The park was filled with oak, maple, beech, sycamore, chestnut, and cypress trees. In the centre of the park there was an artificial lake with a waterfall. Gradually the palace became an attraction. In 1837 it was visited by Emperor Nicholas I, accompanied by Zhukovsky.
After Golitsyn died from a stroke, the mansion was inherited by his sister Kalogrivova. In 1865 she sold the palace to Vladimir Levashov. Following his divorce, Romantic Alexandria was property of his ex-wife Sofia Panina, a woman with progressive liberal views. She let her steward Carl Clasen manage the beautification of the palace and its surrounding territories. The palace was restored, new premises were added, and the park with the garden were improved under his supervision.
In 1901-1902 the palace was occupied by writer Lev Tolstoy. There he held meetings with other famous people, including M. Gorky and A. Chekhov. Nowadays there is a museum of the writer’s creative work in the rooms that were occupied by him. For a year in 1917 the palace accommodated future writer V. Nabokov and his family. Young Nabokov loved catching butterflies in the palace park.
Currently Romantic Alexandria is used as one of the housings of Yasnaya Polyana sanatorium. The sanatorium was given this name after L. Tolstoy and his mansion that used to have the same name.
Address of Romantic Alexandria Palace: the Crimea, Gaspra village, Sevastopolskoe highway, 52.

A Note of Yasnaya Polyana
The story is inspired by the historical fact, Roka Tokutomi finally encountered the Russian novelist, Leo Tolstoy (1906), in the stay of Meiji Japan's infatuation with Western literature and culture. Roka also was a leading novelist and the scholar of Tolstoy during the era. The video narrate people's first and the last encounter of life, while some random guest appears in the teahouse, where the master held the ceremony in the autumn of mid afternoon. Toward the end, the earthquake hits the teahouse, which turned out to be shacked by the wirepuller, assistant for the theater crew.

The Tolstoyan movement is a social movement based on the philosophical and religious views of Russian novelist Leo Tolstoy .Tolstoy's views were formed by rigorous study of the ministry of Jesus, particularly the Sermon on the Mount.Tolstoy expressed great joy that groups of people have been springing up, not only in Russia but in various parts of Europe, who are in complete agreement with our views. However, the author also thought it was a mistake to create a specific movement or doctrine after him, urging individuals to listen to their own conscience rather than blindly follow his.In regard to a letter he received from an adherent, he wrote: To speak of Tolstoyism, to seek guidance, to inquire about my solution of questions, is a great and gross error.
