Žižkov Television Tower, Prague, & Views Over Prague, Czech Republic - 14th October, 2013
This film features footage of, within and from the Žižkov Television Tower, which is located just outside of the city centre of Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic in the suburb of Žižkov. The tower is a unique transmitter built in Prague between 1985 and 1992. It stands high above the city's traditional skyline from its position on top of a hill. The tower is an example of high-tech architecture.
The tower is 216 metres high, and has a number of pods, some of which are for technical purposes as a TV transmitter, and some of which are for public / corporate use as observation decks and a bar. The outside of the tower is decorated with black crawling babies, designed as an art installation by Czech artist David Černy.
This film predominantly features views over the Prague skyline on a late Summer afternoon. Visibility is reasonable, although a little misty in places. This is a great attraction in Prague and worth a visit if you are going to the City. You will find it much less busy than many of Prague's attractions.

Prague, Czech Republic - Žižkov Television Tower HD (2013)
The Žižkov Television Tower (Czech: Žižkovský vysílač) is a unique transmitter tower built in Prague between 1985 and 1992. Designed by the architect Václav Aulický and the structural engineer Jiří Kozák, it stands high above the city's traditional skyline from its position on top of a hill in the district of Žižkov, from which it takes its name. The tower is an example of high-tech architecture.
driver view Viking Cruises Prague by Night bus tour of Prague, Czech Republic (1 of 3)
This is part 1 of 3 showing a good part of the Viking Cruises Prague by Night optional tour of Prague, CZ on July 3, 2017. My camcorder mysteriously quit working toward the end during the best part when it was really dark, but these 3 videos show a good amount of the trip. Really regret the malfunction at the end--still no explanation at all. Had to disconnect battery from camcorder and re-install and it has worked fine since. This video includes an abbreviated portion of our visit to the Zizkov TV Tower which occurred during this tour. For more views of that, I have posted several videos under that name by itself.
Prague (Czech Republic)
Prague (Czech: Praha) is the capital and largest city of the Czech Republic. It is the 15th largest city in the European Union. It is also the historical capital of Bohemia. Situated in the north-west of the country on the Vltava River, the city is home to about 1.24 million people, while its larger urban zone is estimated to have a population of nearly 2 million.
Prague is home to a number of famous cultural attractions, many of which survived the violence and destruction of 20th-century Europe. Main attractions include the Prague Castle, the Charles Bridge, Old Town Square with the Prague astronomical clock, the Jewish Quarter, Petřín hill and Vyšehrad. Since 1992, the extensive historic centre of Prague has been included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites.
Prague ranked fifth in the Tripadvisor world list of best destinations in 2014. Prague is the fifth most visited European city after London, Paris, Istanbul and Rome.
Transport. Prague has about 130 bus lines (numbers 100-299) and 22 tram lines (numbers 1-26). There are also three funiculars, one on Petřín Hill, one on Mrázovka Hill and a third at the Zoo in Troja. All services have a common ticketing system, and are run by the Prague Public Transport Company. Taxi services make pick-ups on the streets or operate from regulated taxi stands. The Metro has three major lines extending throughout the city: A (green), B (yellow) and C (red). A fourth Metro line is planned, which would connect the city centre to southern parts of the city.
Cuisine. In 2008 the Allegro restaurant received the first Michelin star in the whole of the post-Communist part of Central Europe. It retained its star until 2011. As of 2012 there are two Michelin-starred restaurants in Prague (Alcron and La Degustation Bohême Bourgeoise). In Malá Strana, Staré Město, Žižkov and Nusle there are hundreds of restaurants, bars and pubs, especially with Czech beer. Prague also hosts the Czech Beer Festival (Český pivní festival), which is the biggest beer festival in the Czech Republic, held for 17 days every year in May. At the festival, more than 70 brands of Czech beer can be tasted.
Beautiful and interesting. Recommended! :)
