iFly Indoor Skydiving Fort Lauderdale must do attraction #TravelTips #BucketList
Indoor Skydiving is one of those activities you must do at least once. Sort of a bucket list item. And when you visit Fort Lauderdale, very close to Sawgrass Mills you can find an amazing wind tunnel in iFly Indoor Skydiving Fort Lauderdale.
You can experience your flights being guided by an experienced flight trainer, who will correct your posture and help you through spins and turns, as well as bring you all the way up the tunnel.
At iFly Fort Lauderdale you can select different flight experiences and you can even book a virtual reality flight, in which you will combine both the adrenaline of the actual indoor skydiving flight, with an immersive video of a free fall.
This was my second time doing a flight, as I´ve already been to iFly Indoor Skydiving Orlando, and this time around I felt I was doing a lot better with the hand positioning and I could even do a couple of simple tricks that I wasn´t able to do on my first go around.
All in all, a great experience, and a must-do activity for tourists in Fort Lauderdale, and is suitable for almost all ages.
Great activity to do with kids and with teenagers.

IFLY SKYDIVING INDOOR SKYDIVING (BUCKET LIST) OKLAHOMA CITY, OK - EP31
One day, as we were traveling around in Oklahoma City OK, we drove by an iFly Indoor Skydiving facility. My jaw almost dropped when my wife looked at me and said I think I would like to try that!
I didn't wait too long for her to re-think this,.... and we made an appointment for the next day, and made sure her life insurance was paid up.
Sue took a package of flights,........the first would be a 1 minute experience to get a feel for what was to come, followed by (2) two minute trips thru the air to test out her new skills.
In the back of my mind, I thought maybe I would give it a try as well. I had jumped out of a plane once when I was 21, but since I'm a lot smarter now, I re-assessed my state of physical fitness. I decided my remaining hair would blow off, my recently repaired rotator cuff would most likely disconnect, and I would have to embarrass myself and tell them I am 199.99 pounds,........ on a good day.
(Height to weight ratio must be within a range.)
Sue dumbfounded me how well she did. I was so proud to be experiencing this with her. I was honored, and felt taller and better looking when telling people around me that she was my wife! This is a women who gets car sick sometimes, has slight motion sickness on cruises and while flying in a plane.
She told me I made the smart decision NOT to fly because it WOULD have been really bad on my shoulder. You apparently really have to push hard against the wind, and are arching your body and straining constantly to maintain good, consistent, straight posture to fly predictably.
The fact that she stretches everyday and does some yoga gave her the core body strength to be a natural at this. Her instructor told her that few people do as well as she did that day. It must have been her pigtails!

USS MIDWAY AIRCRAFT CARRIER-SAN DIEGO PEACE STATUE-SAN DIEGO CA-EP47
When visiting the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier, in San Diego California, learn from our mistakes. DO NOT park in the lot directly south of the carrier, the meters ($7.50) are only good for three hours. Plan to get to the actual carrier parking lot ($10/day) before the 10 am opening time to snag a spot. You will need at least 5 hours to do this museum justice if you are the type to stop and read things, and listen to the audio tour along the way. The cafe in the rear of the indoor hanger, with an outside deck seating area looked like a good plan to break up the day.
The USS Midway is the second longest serving aircraft carrier and was home to 200,000 military personnel from 1945 to 1992. It serves now as the largest museum in the world devoted to carriers and naval aviation. We visited on 01-04-2019 which was a Friday, and the crowd was very light, but still was busy.
If your time is limited, skip waiting in line for the tour of the “Island”, namely the Main Deck Control Tower. Tours run every 10 minutes, and only takes 20 people at a crack. Tour is about 20 minutes. Rooms are tight, and steep steel ladders are involved.
You can look at the line ahead of you and do the math. Although the tower is really interesting, this would be a bad trade-off if you miss all the other displays and rooms below deck! That's where the real action was!

Tandem Skydiving is the most exhilarating way to make your first skydive! Imagine the rush of exiting the skydiving aircraft and accelerate up to speeds of 120mph! With just about a minute of free fall, you will experience a rush of adrenaline which will take your breath away! You will also have the opportunity to pull the ripcord (Don't worry, your instructor will do it for you if you wish) as you decelerate to enjoy a 4 minute canopy ride while soaking in the breath taking views throughout Southern California, and truly understand why birds sing.
Tandem Skydiving is the quickest and safest way to enjoy your first skydiving experience, as you will be securely attached to a United States Parachute Association (USPA) licensed Tandem Master.
Skydive Elsinore adheres to and surpasses the highest levels of safety standards set for by the USPA. Additionally, we have an incredible safety record and have the longest running civilian Skydiving operation in North America which was established in 1959.
If you are looking for scenery, then look no further! Skydive Elsinore is by far the most scenic skydiving center throughout Southern California! With views of the Pacific Ocean, Catalina Island, Lake Elsinore, Mount Palomar, Big Bear, and Mt. San Jacinto, you will quickly realize why Skydive Elsinore is the most scenic, popular Skydiving Center throughout Southern California.
Being the closest Skydiving Center to Los Angeles, San Diego, Orange and Riverside Counties; Skydive Elsinore is a short drive from anywhere throughout Southern California!
Your instruction will include specific training on the equipment you will use with your Tandem Master, you will also learn about the aerodynamics of arching your body in free fall, along with how to assist flying the parachute with your instructor.
Video which will last a lifetime
You can never repeat your very first skydive - the excitement, the adrenalin, the pure freedom you feel that is utterly unlike anything else in the world. You can't repeat it but you can relive it!
We offer professional freefall photography services for your first jump and for training purposes. Your camera flyer will jump out of the plane with you, video and still cameras on his/her helmet, following you throughout freefall.
Your video and still pictures will include some pre-jump footage, up close freefall footage and the after jump excitement. Don't miss out on capturing forever this once in a lifetime experience!
What is the Accelerated Free Fall (AFF) Program?
The AFF course is the unsurpassed method of training if you are interested in jumping with your own equipment and ultimately becoming a licensed skydiver. The AFF course is the most advanced skydiving training course offered and is endorsed by the United States Parachute Association (USPA).
On your first AFF Level, you will receive 4-6 hours of ground training, followed by the jump utilizing your own equipment and jumping with two USPA certified instructors. Under normal conditions, you will jump the same day as you complete the ground training.
The AFF Course/Program is structured in a two-phase training progression program. Phase I consists of eight jumps, where you will be jumping with an instructor on each level. Each one of the eight jumps is regarded to as learning categories (modules). Each category features a performance objective that must be accomplished prior to advancing to the next level. Completing Phase I qualifies you to make solo skydives under the supervision of an AFF qualified Instructor. At this point, you will be allowed to skydive on your own as you will now be on Student Solo Status.
What you can expect on your first jump
After reaching the desired altitude (12,500'a.g.l.), it is time to free-fall with your two instructors who will grasp your harness on each side. Upon exiting the aircraft, you will quickly accelerate to over 120 miles per hour for up to 60 seconds in free fall! You will then pull the deployment handle (ripcord) and enjoy a breath taking five minute flight under your own parachute. Yes, these parachutes truly fly and you get to steer your parachute during your descent. We will help you guide your parachute via radio communication and control commands for a safe landing. After the skydive, you will be critiqued and given a First Jump Certificate and a skydiving logbook. As you pass to the next learning level, your instructor will outline the next lesson plan and explain the new objectives.
