Boston has over half a million inhabitants and is the largest of New England's cities. As its most important commercial and financial centre, the city on the Charles River has always played an historic role and was the cradle of Independence.
In the centre of Boston, Copley Square features the Trinity Church, which contrasts with the modern Hancock Tower that dominates the skyline. Park Street Church was where, in 1829, William Garrison gave his first anti-slavery speech. In the adjacent Granary Burial Ground, some of America's most famous sons are buried, such as John Hancock, Samuel Adams and Paul Revere.
Beacon Hill has hardly changed over the past 150 years, an architectural gem with narrow, winding cobbled streets and even today, the wrought ironwork of its balconies and banisters indicate that this is one of Boston's most sought after areas.
In front of the Old South Meeting House, in 1729, thousands of Boston's inhabitants protested against the English king and the taxes that he had imposed upon them. The Old State House is Boston's oldest public building. In 1776, it was here that the Declaration of Independence was read out for the first time.
The Plymouth Plantation is a reconstruction of the Pilgrim Fathers' original settlement and is one of the jewels of the many living museums in the U.S.A. To the southwest of Boston there is the museum town of Old Sturbridge Village in which historic buildings from all over the country have been lovingly replicated. Village inhabitants in historical costumes walk and talk in wide open spaces and act out the scenes of daily life as it was two centuries ago.
New England is the traditional face of America and the heart of America's past.

Seychelles. The word Paradise must have been invented for this Indian Ocean Island Chain.
Seychelles officially the Republic of Seychelles is an island country spanning an archipelago of 115 islands in the Indian Ocean, some 1,500 kilometres (932 mi) east of mainland Africa, northeast of the island of Madagascar.
Other nearby island countries and territories include Zanzibar to the west, Mauritius, Rodrigues, Agalega and Réunion to the south, and Comoros and Mayotte to the southwest. Seychelles, with an estimated population of 86,525, has the smallest population of any African state. It also has the highest Human Development Index in Africa. Scholars assume that Austronesian seafarers, and later Maldivian and Arab traders were the first to visit the uninhabited Seychelles. Remains of Maldivian mariner presence from the 12th century were found in Silhouette Island.[4] The earliest recorded sighting by Europeans took place in 1502 by the Portuguese Admiral Vasco da Gama, who passed through the Amirantes and named them after himself (islands of the Admiral).
A transit point for trade between Africa and Asia, the islands were occasionally used by pirates until the French began to take control starting in 1756 when a Stone of Possession was laid by Captain Nicholas Morphey. The islands were named after Jean Moreau de Séchelles, Louis XV's Minister of Finance.
The British contested control over the islands between 1794 and 1810. Jean Baptiste Quéau de Quincy, French administrator of Seychelles during the years of war with the United Kingdom, declined to resist when armed enemy warships arrived. Instead, he successfully negotiated the status of capitulation to Britain which gave the settlers a privileged position of neutrality.
Britain eventually assumed full control upon the surrender of Mauritius in 1810, formalised in 1814 at the Treaty of Paris. Seychelles became a crown colony separate from Mauritius in 1903. Elections were held in 1966 and 1970. Independence was granted in 1976 as a republic within the Commonwealth.[7] In 1977, a coup d'état ousted the first president of the republic, James Mancham, who was replaced by France Albert René. The 1979 constitution declared a socialist one-party state, which lasted until 1991. The first draft of a new constitution failed to receive the requisite 60% of voters in 1992, but an amended version was approved in 1993.

The Freedom Trail
A 2.5 mi (4 km) walking tour of 16 historic websites. The Freedom Trail connects into the Boston Harbor Walk. The Freedom Trail is marked by a line of red paint or red brick at the sidewalk.
Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market, two of Boston's earliest marketplaces, contain a excellent set of mainly tourist-oriented stores and eateries.
Washington St Tremont St. Broadway is the undisputed centre of the theater world, but Boston's Theater District is where most Broadway shows will trailer and is usually the first stop on a show's touring run. Resident shows also operate.
• Bicycling. The Minuteman Bikeway is among the most heavily used rail trails in america. This eleven mile paved route is popular with cyclists, walkers, and in-line skaters. The course closely follows that shot at the start of the Revolutionary War. Available on the Red Line in Davis and Alewife channels.

Not the most interesting of clips, I might take this one down pretty quickly. I have an adventurous spirit, despite being disabled and fragile. I always like to go for restaurant meals ALONE in New York. My idea of a great evening is being all alone at a glittering cocktail party in a land where I know no one and do not speak the language!
2009 was the best year of my life (and 1981 was hard to beat!) I began 2010 feeling great, that most everything was pretty much okay in my life. But this metal over wood tiger year began (last one like this was 1950, the beginning of the Cold War) I sure enough, right after Chinese New Year, I got attacked -- again and again. My own spouse has attacked me SEVEN times this year, PHYSICALLY. Yes, I had police reports filed. What I have of a family, which isn't much, has turned against me or ignored me, and most people just try to crush me, use me as a cash dispenser, screw me either literally or figuratively, and SHAME ON THEM!
I just found out, France continues to consider me nearly fully disabled, yet I will not get a stipend. I am owed a huge amount in back disability benefits from the USA, but they kept losing my dossier, and it seems to be gone forever. No French doctor will fill out a form in English, and they are actually fordibben by French law to discuss my health with ANYONE, so putting together those dossiers took years of work. I wrote to Obama but have no answer. I agreed to cash out and renounce my citizenship. NO ANSWER. Who's minding the store?
I thought I finally got work at L'Université de Paris for one semester, but although formally engaged in writing at Nanterre, I was illegally fired for teaching web bot (they gave me no materials, by the way -- I had to make up a program about economics, law and business English on my own) and I was never paid and surely never will be. In Villetaneuse, I have lectured twice weekly, yet have STILL NOT BEEN FORMALLY ENGAGED IN WRITING, and they were supposed to pay me in November and did not. (Profs only get paid twice a year in France.) I am looking for work in another country, and just applied in Oman. (I think that is how you spell it. It is a Sultanate.) My spouse tells me he wants me dead (I have a lot of life insurance) or gone. 18 years of marriage, down the drain. He is depressed and under French law, I cannot force him to get care. I think he sees a psychologist, but I have no right to know who that is, when he goes, or what is happening.
I had to leave the USA in 1994 to get healthcare. I am uninsurable there, thanks to New York Life revoking a disability policy on me in 1991. (I sued them and won, eventually, but am uninsurable in the USA now.)
This Carnet d'Evasion tour run by Thistle Travel was a real loser. I tried to make the best of it, though, and found Turkey fascinating, the language beautiful, the women gorgeous and graceful, and the music, especially the pop music, to be lovely!
