Amol is a city and the administrative center of Amol County, Mazandaran Province, Iran. In the 2006 census, the surveyed population of the city was 197,470, in 55,183 families.Amol is located on the Haraz river bank. It is less than 20 kilometres south of the Caspian sea and less than 10 kilometres north of the Alborz mountains. It is 180 kilometres from Tehran, and 60 kilometres west of the provincial capital, Sari. Amol is a historic city, with its foundation dating back to the Amard.

    The Veresk bridge is a masonry arch bridge in northern Iran. It was constructed mostly by Austrians before World War II by leadership of an engineer named Walter Aigner, constructed during the reign of Reza Shah. It is located in the Veresk district of Savadkuh County, in Mazandaran province. During World War II, it was known as the Pol-e Piroozi . The bridge stands 110 metres tall and its arch measures 66 metres long. The bridge serves the Trans-Iranian Railway network in Northern Iran. The Veresk bridge connects the railway between Tehran and the Caspian Sea region. It is located in Mazandaran’s Veresk district of Savad Kooh county, 85 kilometers south of Ghaemshahr and connects two of the mountains in the Abbas Abad region.
